Meaning of What Again?
Well, the Python Fellows have done it again! They have produced a book so funny, so rue to nothing, that it could be just a figment of a madman's imagination. If they think that someone will want to buy this book, they are definetly right on, chaps! I hope everyone will buy this book, read it, and then send it to me! (Just kidding!)

Contains deleted scenes!
This is the companion book to Monty Python's most outrageous film. Great color photos illustrate the script, but the REAL reason to own this is that it is the only place you may ever get to read/see some sequences cut from the film. These are "The Adventures of Martin Luther," in which Jones plays a very randy Martin Luther making the Jewish parents of two young daughters (mother Chapman and father Palin) quite nervous and an extended version of the "Middle Age" sequence featuring Carol Cleveland as a waitress in the Dungeon Room waiting on Idle and Palin. The text to these scenes is what warrants the high rating - otherwise, it's simply a souvenier.

Too many politics and not so many shotguns
I miss more information about the core topic: the Spanish fine shotguns. There are only a few pages with shotgun's pictures, which is a great way to see the excellent quality of the Spanish shotguns. I miss more information related to the different models manufactured in Spain (luxury O/U do not appear at all and they have been sold to Royal Houses around the world...). There is also an extensive description (biased in my opinion) of the history of the basques which adds little interest to the main topic: the Spanish shotguns. The best of all is that the author has had the courage to show internationally the outstanding quality of our guns and to fight against the black legend about the Spanish steels.

More than a book about great guns
Terry Wieland's book is a thoughtful and thorough analysis of the Spanish gunmaking trade. Spanish guns enjoy a spotty reputation in North America and this book helps consumers determine between the quality Spanish guns and the rest. It is also reviews the history of the Basque people and is an invaluable reference should one entertain the idea of going to Spain to order a shotgun. I have visited Eibar and toured the gunmakers and having a copy of this book made the trip much more enjoyable. In some respects, Spanish Best is also a good travel book because Wieland describes the local customs and notes interesting places to visit (San Sebastian and Guernika). Having been to Eibar, I can attest that his descriptions of the gun makers, local people, the Hotel Arrate and the restaurant Chalcha are impressively accurate. I understand that a second edition is in the works and I look forward to it with great anticipation.

If you've seen the movie....
The format is a mass-market paperback, but this isn't a novelization but rather the screenplay as the movie was made. You'll notice that last has a subtle distinction. Oftentimes screenplays differ notably from the movies as you see them--scenes are cut because they didn't work, cost too much to do, or just because of the limits of time. The screenplays of Brazil and Monty Python and the Holy Grail are full of wonderful little tidbits that didn't make it to the screen. Unfortunately, for Life of Brian, there's only the parts that did get made, which are funny indeed, but you've already seen them.

excelente review of environmental enrichment
A book that had to be written. This book is a good and basic guide for people working or interested in environmental enrichment. Several aspects are covered by the book, from theoretical bases to the implications to use enrichment for the conservation and welfare of wild animals. However, although it gives a lots of examples on mammals and some on reptiles, it forgets birds.

Bull Session: An Up-Close Look at Michael Jordan and Courtside Stories About the Chicago Bulls

Title is Misleading
This is NOT a book about Michael Jordan. He is only vaguely mentioned on a few pages. If you are looking for Johnny Kerr's autobiography, then this would meet your needs. However, I bought it for my husband, a Michael Jordan fan, and we were disappointed.

Excellent.
this is a fun run back through the great old Bulls stories, with Red Kerr's special take on the happenings.

Roland Lazenby

Before Michael and the Dynasty, there was "Big Red".
Terry Pluto relays, some hilarious stories as only Bulls 1st Coach, Johnny "Red" Kerr can tell. The first Bulls parade in Chicago was not as large as one would expect, it consisted of a flatbed truck, Coach Johnny "RED" Kerr, the team owner and a real live Bull. No Kidding!!

Enjoy stories of banging with Wilt Chamberlin, trying to figure out Bill Russell, how "Red" would have guarded Kareem Abdul Jabbar, and the Genesis of Da Bulls Dynasty.

Johnny "Red" Kerr is a master story teller.

Read and Laugh on.

Basic does not have to mean "little content"
"Around the Buoys" intends to be a primer on basic racing tactics.

It is written as a narrative. I think that a more succinct format with diagrams and bullet point lists of tactical considerations and options would be more helpful for learning. Certainly nothing would be lost. A narrative format seems more appropriate for Walker, Melges, and Perry as they are covering advanced tactics, competitive psychology, and tuning.

It does not have very much content. Even if one were to distill the tactical knowledge from the book, there would not be much.

"Performance Racing Tactics" by Bill Gladstone offered by North Sails is superior in its presentation and content for beginner racers. It also covers some more advanced topics, and would be valuable even to an accomplished racer.

some confusion
Pretty good, but there are some concepts that are not explained in a very clear way. Particularly, wind shifts. There are various explanations of playing the shifts throughout the book, based on the idea of predictiing shifts and acting accordingly, but they are often rather mysterious. Also, some ideas are outdated due to rules changes. A new, improved edition would be great.

Excellent Tactics Book for the Beginning Racer
.

I'm a sailing instructor. Many of my students ask me how to get invited out on boats more. I tell them two things. Sign on as crew on a small boat in a one design fleet and, be prepared to not miss a race to establish a reputation for reliability. These things will do more to improve your reputation and skills than anything else.

This is the book I now recommend to my students who want to learn about racing tactics without being put to sleep. I think it is the easiest to understand book on the market for this subject.

I especially enjoyed the section on wakes on pages 103-104.

The book is strong on tactics, and weak on the finer nuances of shifting gears for maximizing speed. I recommend Buddy Melges or Stuart Walker for more information on those topics--along with a GPS and on-the-water experimentation. See my reviews of other books on sailing for more information.

I'm very happy with the boat. It hold a special spot on my bookshelf, and I won't loan this one out.

What Stories Does My Son Need?: A Guide to Books and Movies That Build Character in Boys

Average review score:

boys are worth it
Boys are worth it. They do deserve just as much fuss and time as our girls. The interest has peaked on this topic and the author's aren't living up to their potential. Slow down authors. We will wait for sincere and more weighted guidelines for our sons. For parents who want to raise thinking, creative and caring children (especially boys) consider other worthy words from two other great books: "Loneliness in Childhood and Adolescence," and ''MOMMY-CEO,'' (not at all what you're thinking but great in sharing the little but important stuff) and both are easy friendly reading.

Excellent Idea, But Left Out The Best One
This book is an excellent idea. However, the authors left out what I have found to be the best one for our sons AND OUR DAUGHTERS. Add the book, "West Point" by Norman Thomas Remick to your list (in fact, this should be first as it gives the basics). It's a veritable education in character and leadership.

Practical, and fun to share with your kids
This book is a small-but-potent guide to finding positive entertainment amid all the negativity and violence that's in the movies and television today. I'll take Gurian's suggestions over Doom or the WWF anytime. It outlines 100 movies and 100 books for all age ranges, and my family has benefited from it.

not too bad , but...
The book is very simple to read and understand, but there is a problem. The example presented seems to be tailor-made to demonstrate the use of different features of OMT and Booch methods. Now when you try to apply these to the project that you are actually doing, you find yourself asking the same questions as you were doing before. In real life, projects don't sit up and beg to be OO-ised.
