Excellent
I reviewed the other volume in this unabridged re-publishing of the two volumes, and I highly recommend them. They are certainly must-reads for all.

Great re-publishing of the ancient Chinese epic
This, along with the other volume (also on this site), make an excellent epic story. This re-publishing has an informative foreword, is in paperback, and is unabridged (the two volumes combines make over a thousand pages!). I highly recommend these two volumes.

Beautiful, Informative and Excellent Price
I wish I had seen the exhibition of which this beautiful book is the catalogue. It must have been breathtaking. This is more than a catalogue, it is a reference book, beginning with an overview and four informative introductory essays. The Catalogue itself is divided into twelve specific areas/types of Tibetan Sacred Art. These cover not only the different representations of the Shakyamuni Buddha, Arhats, Boddhisattvas and others, but also the four Tibetan Buddhist Orders. The Illustations are very clear and many detailed illusrtrations and graphs help to explain the Thangaks and Mandalas. The text is very informative, and the book is also printed and bound well.... A truly wonderful gift.

Superb visuals and explanations of Tibetan art
This is one book you can judge by it's cover. It is fabulous. The photos of Tibetan paintings and statuary are simply beautiful. In some cases, such as a Tibetan thangka painting of Shakyamuni buddha's life, the whole painting is shown first, then close-up shots of other parts of the painting are shown for a more detailed view. Scenes from the painting are then explained. Anyone who has tried to decipher the meaning in a thangka, knows that without the help of experts, it is nearly impossible to capture the true story. Marylin Rhie and Robert Thurman help unlock the mysteries in a book with stunning photography, history and artful explanations. If you are interested in Tibetan iconography, a collector, buddhist or an art student--BUY IT, you'll love it!

A dazzling spectacle of an artbook
Robert Taylor: Air Combat Paintings Volume II is a dazzling spectacle of an artbook, filled with black-and-white as well as full color images of aerial combat paintings, especially those related to World War II air battles. An extensive, in-depth commentaries and history adds a special depth to the origin and moment captured in these heart-stopping works of art. Robert Taylor: Air Combat Paintings, Volume II is a recommended treasure trove of great air combat illustrations for aviation and military history buffs. Also highly recommended is the companion compilation, The Air Combat Paintings of Robert Taylor: Volume 1 (0715314300, £20.00).

A classic
There are few books on selling that stand the test of time, this one does. Although there are some things that might make this seem dated, like the manual systems that might be easier done on a PC, the knowledge is the basic info that a sales rep needs to get started. It is the first book I'd give to a new sales rep.

WWII Arctic seas warfare, told from real facts and stories.
It is June 27, 1942, nearly three years after the German army invaded Poland and began a war that is now being fought all over the globe. On board a battered, rusty freighter in the bleak port of Hvalfjordur, Iceland, Ensign Howard E. Carraway surveys the dozens of cargo ships anchored nearby; their decks crammed with tanks, crated aircraft, barrels of gasoline, and other implements of war. Despite the near certainty of enemy attack and the hazards of a voyage through the brutally cold waters above the Arctic Circle, these ships will sail tomorrow in an Allied convoy bound for Russia (Convoy PQ 17). For without the supplies she so desperately needs, the Soviet Union may well collapse; German soldiers are even now camped outside Moscow. Drawing on Ensign Carraway's personal diary and on documents long buried in military files, the author recreates the story of one of the most significant episodes in World War II naval history, an event that was to have far-reaching consequences, not only for the Soviet Union but for every future convoy that would sail near enemy territory. Above all, Theodore Taylor, the author, has written a vivid and compelling account of a military disaster, and of the simple courage, intelligence, and even humor with which ordinary human beings cope with the terrible perils of war. Unique B & W watercolor prints also add another dimension to this book.

An ideal tool for teaching poetry to high school students.
I teach high school English. My students are wild about this book. That's all I have to say, and an astute reader will recognize immediately that nothing more need be said.

Contemporary Issues in Leadership

A Good Intermediate Text
This book is best for those who have already read a couple of books on leadership, particularly those by Warren Bennis and James MacGregor Burns since these two figure's ideas are present in many of this book's pages. That is not to say there are no new paths taken. Sashkin and Rosenbach's "A New Vision of Leadership" is eye-opening in its redefinition of transformational leadership. This essay also does well in illustrating the differences between leadership and management, a division I was not sure existed until I picked up this book. Payne, Fuqua, and Canegami's "Women as Leaders" was equally fresh and eye-opening. This is a good book to read to start developing more complex ways of looking at leadership.

Bataan Death March - detailed account
One of the most acclaimed (and most sought after) books ever written on the Bataan Death March. The book details the true story of General Robert Preston Taylor during World War Two. A enlightening read and one that really should be part of any comprehensive personal WWII reference library.

Excellent in teaching graduate psychology students
"Distinguishing Psychological from Organic Disorders: Screening for Psychological Masquerade" is an excellent orientation and foundation for the beginner, and the proficient in the field of psychology and counseling. It is a direct and straight forward review of medical disorders that pass for psychiatric illnesses. I have used the book since it first came out in teaching graduate students in a Masters Program, as well as, in a Doctoral Program. Students find it easy to read and more important easier to understand and apply to case formulations and to case dispositions. I have recommended this textbook to many other faculty members for both their own background fund of information, as well as, for their use in teaching. Libraries, at several schools have ordered the book based on my recommendation. Robert Taylor has kept the book up-to-date and practical through several editions including when it was first released as "Mind or Body: Distinguishing psychologic from organic" back in 1982.

I have also given it to clients to read relevant chapters in order to better understand themselves or their relatives and family members. Many have enjoyed it enough, that they have purchased the book for themselves.

I am a Psychologist, a member of the National Registry of Health Care Providers in Psychology, and have been working in this field since 1972 and I have been a faculty member for the last fourteen years and this is one of the best books in the area of teaching psychodiagnosis that I have used to teach this material. It has been consistently rated the highest scores by students who have taken my classes, they only wish the other texts that I use would be as easy to digest and apply -they say that it "...sets their expectations high for the other texts..."

The Greatest Summer Job in the Whole, Wide World
Published in Hardcover by Silk Label Books (03 April, 2001)
Authors: Robert L. Hecker, Gyla Beth Seal, and January Taylor
Amazon base price: $24.95

A great read!
The Greatest Summer Job in the Whole, Wide World is a charming story, filled with excellent characters placed in a glitzy setting. Cal, a naieve young man from Idaho, travels to Lake Tahoe for a summer job. A bright fellow, unaccustomed to the Nevada nightlife, he runs afoul of some shady characters, stumbles into some unusual situations, gender wise, and makes friends in the most unlikely places. Cal lacks wisdom, but the story teller doesn't. Told with humor by a savvy writer, this tale proved to be the most fun I've had reading a book in a long time. The writing is fresh, the content humoruous and the characters memorable. An excellent read!
