not for young children
This book may be fine for older children (12+), but I read the section where Lanny/Jake is in the office with the principal and found it totally inappropriate for my daughter (age 9).
Skimming through other chapters of the book, I found passages that were more suitable for middle school readers. I wouldn't reccommend this book for children under 12 years of age.

Grizzly Attack

This book has inaccurate information about Alaska
I felt that while this book is a fast pace read, there are some errors that greatly bring down the value of this book. The Iditarod was run to provide medicine for diptheria, not smallpox as is stated in the book. The dog museum is in Cinicinati, not in San Francisco. While this is corrected in the end of the book, it should have been correct all throught the book. The most grievous error though is that Doris and Richard were not provided a home within there village. A home in the village would be found for children in their circumstances. I feel this book should have been better researched.

Great book on survival for students of all ages.
Tyler is VISITING his uncle in Alaska. I had a great sense of what Alaska, and it's wildlife is like after reading this book. I am going to recommend it to my intermediate elementary aged students as well as my high school aged son who is a reluctant reader. It is fast moving and enjoyable. While I usually use a Paulsen book when kids are looking for an adventure book, this book reads quicker and will be a hit. I am going to go out and buy the entire "Against The Odds" series for my elementary school library today!!

A cool book.
Tyler has gone to visit his uncle in the wilderness of Alaska. He doesn't expect to find two kids, Richard and Doris, who are half-Indian, living with his uncle. Now Tyler's uncle is sick, and Tyler and Richard aren't getting along. Then a ferocious grizzly attacks the cabin. Can Tyler and Richard work together to fend off the grizzly

Don't Get Caught in the Teachers' Lounge
Don't Get Caught in the Teachers' Lounge

The novel, Don't Get caught in the Teachers' Lounge, by Todd Strasser, is a story about three kids trying to pull off a scam at their school. If they get caught, they could get expelled. Wilson, Dusty, and Kyle, are buying drinks from the teachers lounge, and selling them in the boy's bathroom.
They novel takes place at the Harts Mark's Middle School, but the theme of the story is, when you do something bad, but you know you won't get caught, you shouldn't do it anyways. The main characters of the story are Wilson, Dusty, and Kyle. Wilson, is the kind of guy that likes to invent things and is always getting into trouble. Dusty, on the other hand, is a slick guy that can talk his way out of anything. Kyle, is just a nice guy that no one would expect to get in trouble. I like Dusty, Kyle, and Wilson, because they are funny when they mess up. I like the way the author wrote the book. I liked how he told about the different things. I also liked the way the author ended the novel.
Todd Srasser, keeps the reader interested by making things funny. The vocabulary is about right for the complication of the story. I liked the way the author told about everything. However, I think the author might have described everything a little too much. I recommend this book for right year olds to eleven year olds. It would be too hard for younger children and too easy for older children. I would recommend this book because it's funny, has some action, and isn't boring. From a scale from 1* to 5* I rate it * * * *.

Don't get caught in the teachers' lounge
It is a really good book about three kids who are really thristy and the teachers' lounge is the only spot that has pop. They go into the lounge and ... you will have to read the book to find out what happens to them. I would recommend this book to all kids in elementary school.

A Real Tear Jerker
You will love this book to death! If you are even an adult older than 12 you will like it! I personally loved it! I can relate to the boy in this book very much. WE had so much in common. I laughed and cried so much throughout this book.

"A Great Book For Kids Who Like Tear Jerkers"
Free Willy 2 is an awesome book for children from the ages 8-12. I read it as a 9 year old and absolutely loved it. I laughed and I cryed. The boy in this story related to me very much because we have many similarities. I know how he feels in this book and if you read it im sure you'll feel the same way. I highly recommend this book for you!

Cute, Enjoyable Story!
I love the Beverly Hillbillies TV Show, I just love the down to earth, home spun, appeal of that show, and I thought the Beverly Hillbillies Movie remake was really cute and funny, I listened to the audio book recording of Todd Strasser's the Beverly Hillbillies Movie (based on the screenplay) and I really enjoyed listening to it! I have always liked Henry Gibson (Laugh-In and numerous movie and TV appearances, including Bio-Dome and Sabrina The Teenage Witch), and I was very pleased that he did the narration! The audio book is abridged and I enjoyed it so much I found myself wishing to hear the whole book on tape!

What Do Husbands Think About?
Funny book. Makes me think of what might happen if the protagonist of NEVER MIND NIRVANA actually DID marry and decide to settle down.

How does remain faithful, especially when one is in love with one's spouse and there is a half-naked woman in the window of the next building? And can one stay on task when working from home?

Very dry wit, neatly written. Very enjoyable. Worth a couple of reads.

I think it was a very good book to read for plesure.
I THINK THAT IT WAS A VERY NICELY WRITTEN BOOK. If I wanted i could of just went and rented the movie if I wanted to. Even though I have read and watched Micale on 34th Street I still think it is a good book to read and many children from thages 9-12 should read this book. When they do read this book they should come back and leave a review on this book like I have done to express my feelings toward the book.
