Rock Steady: A Story of Noah's Ark
Published in Library Binding by HarperCollins Children's Books (1901)
Authors: Sting and Hugh Whyte
Amazon base price: $16.89
Used price: $11.99
Average review score:

Manna From Heaven - For Your Inner Child
Sting's contemporary retelling of the biblical story of Noah's Ark is fantastic fun to read (or sing) to your children (or to your inner child).

The text is adapted from the lyrics of his song, Rock Steady, which is available on his ... Nothing Like the Sun CD. The artwork (by Hugh Whyte) is colorful and captivating. (Sting fans will especially enjoy the image of the young man wearing the black and yellow striped sweater - a treat for "Sting" fans who know how he got his nickname.)

Bible purists beware, however, as Sting has taken some poetic license with the biblical story. The plot follows a couple who respond to an add in the newspaper and join Noah to "commune with Mother Nature on a big wooden ship." While Noah informs that couple that he "heard God's message on the radio" and that there is more to the journey than is apparent to the eye, the story does not explain or allude to God's motivation or the biblical reason for the flood. (On the bright side, as your children get older, you can use this book as an example of Christianity's impact on contemporary culture.)

So buy the book - the proceeds go to a great cause - the Rainforest Foundation.

How could it be anything short of great?
Sting's lyric in this title is superb. I find many of his lyrics beyond Good/Average and believe he ought to be published in a literary sense. I am a poet/writer, but was first a musician as well. Cross venues are common with creative minds, but someone, please publish more of Sting! Lots of children's stories to be told, and much more adult imagery to express...

More From the Author of Corvette 1953-1962
If you've already read Mike Mueller's first Corvette offering, or if you happen to think the Sting Rays of the mid-sixties were the best of the bunch, this book's another must-read. Done in the same style of his previous efort, with lots of technical and historical information, Mr. Mueller provides an in-depth look at the five-year run of Sting Rays. He also supplies many beautiful examples of his own photographic expertise. This book's an excellent companion to any other Corvette books you may own, as well as a logical follow-up to Mr. Mueller's first book.

Jungle Stories: The Fight for the Amazon
Published in Hardcover by St. Martin's Press (1996)
Authors: Sting and Jeanne-Pierre Dutilleux
Amazon base price: $22.95
Average review score:

Highly Recommended
Jungle Stories is a a book co-written by Sting and photographer Jean Pierre Dutilleux about their visits to the Amazon rainforest, firstly in 1987 (when he was accompanied by Trudie Styler), and later in 1989 (when trying to get President Sarney to agree to the demarcation of the Xingu National Park). Dutilleux was responsible for introducing Sting to the problems being faced by the Amazonian indians and for introducing him to Chief Raoni. The book features many superb colour photographs of the rainforest and the damage being done by logging and mining companies, but especially of the mysterious and proud Indian tribes. Sting introduces us to several larger than life characters in his contributions. His writing is good - written in short, snappy, journal fashion, serious without being overly so, and punctuated with flashes of humour. His admiration for the Indians shines through the book, and Dutilleux's excellent photographs - many of Sting - set this book off marvellously. Highly recommended.

An excellent book!
Scorpion's Sting combines elements of clever detective work, compelling personal narrative, and Southwestern life and politics to create an intreguing tale that any reader will love. When McKenzie's unlikely hero, Hal Taylor, adds part-time detective work to his credentials as a high school history teacher and father, he quickly finds himself involved in one of the biggest cases in Arizona history. McKenzie adds vibrant character depth to an excellently developed story, and the result is a terrific novel.

The Sting Book: A Guide to Setting Up and Running a Clandestine Storefront Sting Operation

The Sting Book
This is the ultimate book for anyone wanting to understand Sting operations from A to Z, or for a practioner that wants to set up a sting operation Lt. Frazier leaves nothing out of this work. It gives the reader all the background information and ups and downs of such an operation. I highly recommned the book and author. I have seen his work first hand and there is no one better within the field. Lt. Frazier knows what he's talking about and has proven that time and again with his many sting operations netting 100s of hard core crooks each time he puts a sting together....a great book for anyone in the business or student of criminal justice.
