Eicosanoids in Invertebrates is Gaining More Attention
This book serves to inform the reader of the current progress of research on eicosanoid signal transduction in invertebrate organisms, namely insects. The author is an expert in the field not only in the United States but in Europe as well and has published extensively on this subject. David Stanley's discussion of eicosanoids as signal molecules illustrates the biological significance of these molecules from the cellular level to their impact on physiological ecology. After reading this book I concluded that eicosanoids are likely to be biologically significant to all animals. This book is a standard reference in my laboratory. I recommend it to students interested in invertebrate biology and scientists conducting research as well.

Excellent Book
This book has information on every movie, song, and the days of Elvis' life. It's like DAY BY DAY by Peter Guralnick (spelling?) but not as much $. Awesome color photos and a really nice cover make this book something to show off. 5 Stars!

indispensable for elvis fans
If you want to know everything about Elvis, then this is the book you need. It contains everything about his personal life, his music, his movies, his friends and family, his likes and dislikes and more.
It was compiled by his stepbrother David E. Stanley and it has a foreward by Lamar Fike, Elvis' best friend.
It also has an Elvis trivia quiz for the real fantics.
If you need to know those more obscure songs he sang, you'll find it in here.
Since this book was first published in '94, I can only spot two original albums missing from the "his music" section.
"For the asking" and "Tomorrow is a long" time were supposed to have been released in the early and late sixties respectively, but instead they were dropped in favour of soundtrack albums. A lot of the songs from these two albums were used as fillers on soundtrack albums of the sixties.
Now these two long lost albums have recently been released by RCA. So the only reason they're not mentioned in this book, is because they weren't commercially available at the time this book was published.
It does mention at the beginning of the music section "this anthology contains only records released commercially - no bootlegs or unauthorised material".
They released this book with an alternative front cover in '98 (in the uk anyway), and I'm assuming it's exactly the same. I might buy that book because I've looked at my book so many times, especially in the music section, that some of the pages have come out. This is probably due to flicking back and forth so much.
Buy this book! You won't believe the amount of info in it.

A guide so good I only needed one shoestring!
In a nutshell the _Lonely Planet: Eastern Europe on a Shoestring_ guide was lovingly referred to as 'the bible' by travellers I ran into from around the world (myself included). Checking in at the hostel in the evening with my _LP_ stuffed in the side pocket of my pack always generated a look of envy from those carrying other, less comprehensive guides. In the face of the perpetually changing environment of Eastern Europe, _LP_ has managed to compile a list of places to stay and food for the hungary (among other handy things such as maps and phone numbers). Prices and availability change as frequently as the currency in Bosnia, but nine times out of ten when I followed the guide to an address not only was it reliable, but a comfort to know I had friends on my side in unfamiliar and distant countries. Absolutely a must for people starting out on a mision to explore the world (Eastern Europe in this case) and not a bad resource for those of you who have already learned how to make all your train connections and find a place to stay. The peace of mind you have knowing that there's help along the way is well worth the price.

Still The Best Academic Introduction to Paleontology
"Principles of Paleontology" remains the finest introductory academic text to paleontology, written by two of the foremost paleontologists in the latter half of the 20th Century. It may be of interest too to historians and philosophers of science since the book reflects paleontology's emergence as a quantitative science shaped by recent advances in systematic biology and theoretical ecology. David Raup, now professor emeritus of geophysical sciences at the University of Chicago, was probably the paleontologist most responsible for paleontology's emergence as a quantitative science; his research covered many aspects of theoretical paleontology from analyzing shell morphology to measuring evolutionary rates. Steven M. Stanley, still a professor of geology at Johns Hopkins University, is noted for his research on the functional morphology of mollusk shells, measuring evolutionary rates, and introducing the concept of "Species Selection".

Raup's and Stanley's text covers all aspects of paleontology from preservation and the fossil record to functional morphology, biostratigraphy, paleoecology, and macroevolution. Of special note to historians of science is the considerable attention that they devoted to then recent advances in community and population ecology, such as the MacArthur-Wilson theory of equilibrium island biogeography. Admittedly, much of the book emphasizes invertebrate paleontology, though some attention is devoted too to paleobotany and vertebrate paleontology.

Excellent comprehensive Retina Vitreous text
This two volume set covers medical and surgical retina. It has many fine color photographs and is written on a high level. It seems to fill some of the gaps left by the Ryan Retina series. Drug coverage seems up to date, and treatment recommendations are current
