It is a very different read than most fantasies
The Master of Evil is certainly one of the most intriguing fantasies I have read in a long time. It has a different writting style than I have ever encountered elsewhere and I found it a very absorbing read. Saly enough, I have not been able to find the other books in this series, the Fall of the First World, so I can not comment on the series as a whole.
This first book is likely to have strange effect on the reader. For myself, I am still no tryly sure if I like or hate the authors particulare style of writting and would need to read more of his books to decide this. The fact that I want to read more seems to say that I am leaning towards liking him, however.
I will not comment on the actual plot line etc. since part of the books appeal lies in the fact that, while some events may be rather predictable, the author has a facinating way of going about describing them and the book seems to have a very strong poetic flare.
In closing I would recommend that anyone who wants to read this book and I would love to hear the opinions of others who have read it.

For a Devilish Good Time Read This Book
The story deals with Red Sonja getting mixed up with a prison break. The prisoners are made up of a band of thugs and a wizard who has sold his soul to an ancient and very powerful Hell spawned demon. Needless to say, Sonja joins forces with a military expedition set out to bring the convicts back in line. This story has it all, adventure on the high seas, acts of piracy, loads of action, character development(a rarity for this series), and an overgrown mud monster. Also in this story, we finally learn the origin of Sonja's famous, or rather infamous, metal bikini battle armor. But bummer of all bummers, as soon as we learn it's origin, it's destroyed in battle, and Sonja replaces it with more practical armor:( To date, this is the best Red Sonja novel I have read. I was strongly tempted to give it 5 stars, but it just falls short of this lofty rank. As with all Red Sonja novels this item is long out of print. But if you are diligent in your search, you will be well rewarded. As with all books in the series, renowned fantasy artist Boris provides a truly gorgeous cover painting. Fortunately, Boris chose to depict Sonja in her more famous metal bikini on the cover rather than in her knew practical armor:)

A no frills book with literaly no thrills.
Few literary textbooks equal "An Anthology of American Literature" in length and dryness. While the book is a collection of mediocre stories who are now only seeing the light of day due to the baneful effects of political correctness, the editor of this work delves deeper to not include a single illustration that may have shed some light of this terrible experience of reading this collection of pointless stories,
I think its great
I, on the other hand, think its a great collection of American literature, but maybe just a bit too pricey for what it offers. I would suggest it more as something to use as a reference than as something that should be read cover to cover, I mean, geeze, its 2060 pages long.
Anthology of American Literature: Volume II
This huge textbook is a steal: hundreds of major works from the last century and a half, printed on quality paper, bound with a strong but flexible gum binding. If this were a hardcover, you'd pay twice the price for what it includes. It's thorough and scholarly, a tome that defines the Big League of anthologies. It's not for the shallow reader, though, who's accustomed to the sensuous audio-visuals of TV and the Internet. This is TEXT. Time to resuscitate the thinking mind, the patient intellect, the autonomous imagination.

Outdated, but an interesting artifact.
This well-written, fun book is definitely required reading for any would-be Macintosh expert. Although it's now far too outdated to be of very much practical use, it is full of colorful tidbits, descriptions, pointers and secrets from the Mac's "middle period" -- when System 7 was state-of-the-art, when Steve Jobs, the chair behind his desk at Apple still warm, was trying to make NeXT Computing the next big thing, when the PowerPC processor was years into the future. Perhaps the most interesting thing about "Inside Track to the Mac," however, is that its author, John Dvorak, is now notorious for his anti-Macintosh opinions as a columnist for a prominent computer magazine and website. That makes this book fascinating as a relic of Dvorak's past, as well as of the Macintosh's.

Red Sonja's (Not Jonga's) Swansong
In this the sixth, and final, novel in the series, Red Sonja not only battles an evil cult that has managed to capture a shooting star, she also falls in love. As with all sword and sorcery novels, you get the standard fantasy elements. I.E. a witch who can steal souls and trap them in monsterous bodies, power mad sorcerers out to destroy the world, etc. However, the most fantastic element of this novel is that the authors expect us to buy Red Sonja falling in love with her dweeb sidekick. It is just totally unbelievable that she would fall for this sensitive swordsman/sorcerer in training. The relationship is so forced, that it weakens the story whenever the two characters are together, which is about 85% of the time. Having Red Sonja fall in love isn't a bad idea, it just should have been with somebody that the readers could accept for her. As it stands, what should have been Sonja's final blaze of glory, winds up being an ember of mediocrity. As with all Red Sonja novels, this item is no longer in print and requirs some searching for. If readers are diligent in their search, they will be well rewarded, if not by the story, then by the beautiful cover painting by Borris.

It's Ok
The footnotes are numbered strangely and they don't elaborate on the footnoted item very well.
Good Textbook
This was the textbook used in my American Literature I class last semester. Volume Two is being used in the second half that I am taking this semester. The book offers a good collection of American Literature from the earliest European Explorers to the late 1800's. The additional information offered in the introductions to each author and literary time period adds to the student's understanding of the works.
