This is a fantastic book on the art of consulting. As a previous partner of McKinsey, I took a lot away from this book that took me 20 years to learn previously. I highly recommend this book to every level consultant, doing any type of consulting.

Totalmente recomendable. La traducción al español es muy buena.

Comprehensive Commercial Focus on Real Estate
I took Jack Corgel's course in the Hotel School at Cornell. We used the third edition of this text, and it covered the spectrum of concepts for a basic introduction to real estate investment. Even though the course focused on commercial real estate, I found the concepts have helped me determine whether I have made good choices in residential real estate, as well. The best aspect of the book (and the course) was applying a discounted cash flow analysis to particular properties. As a method to assess the financial viability of a property by analyzing the rent, tax, depreciation and other effects, the discounted cash flow analysis helped me feel much more confident in my real estate investments.

The book covers four basic areas: investment principles like net present value, real estate markets, mortgage financing, and legal aspects of real estate. Although not flashy with lots of pictures, the essential concepts and methods are thoughtfully explained and applied. I highly recommend this book as a reference to keep on your shelf to refer to periodically if engaged in the acquisition of real estate.

Brings a new dimension to World War II
From the training camps of Texas to the insect invested jungles of the far flung Pacific and from the Red Cross Clubmobiles in the UK to occupied Japan, this book really tells through carefully collected correspondance what the women did "over there." Theirs was an important contribution to the huge war effort and was the foundation of the feminist movement of the sixties. While these normal and healthy young women bemoaned the lack of and longed for hot showers, beauty salons and the latest fashions, not one let their vanity get in the way of their work. They did it all on the war front. Cared for the sick, organized and ordered supplies, and delivered new planes. These were the women of the Army Nurse Corps, the Navy Nurses, the WAVES, WACS and SPARS. The women of the American Red Cross were just as important and I was fascinated to learn that they too were taught how to handle firearms and themselves in all wartime situations.

Through the words of these women, we hear about their friends, love life, battles, air raids and typical military humor. Their thoughts always strayed toward home, but they were all in agreement about one thing. They would not trade places. Each knew that this experience would change them forever. I am sure it did. Their successful work during that time certainly changed the roles of all women forever.

If you like Xena, why not try Red Sonja?
Red Sonja, like the more famous Xena, is a female warrior who travels the world in search of adventure. This character made her first appearence as a supporting player in the Conan the Barbarian comics. She quickly made the grade and was spun off into her own comics, and then a novel series, this being the first of said series. In this novel, Red Sonja joins good King Olin on his quest to destroy the evil sorcerer(is there any other kind?)who destroyed his city. To kill the sorcerer, they must first possess the fabled ring of Ikribu. While on their quest, they are confronted with zombies, black magic, and traitors. All of this is standard fare in sword and sorcery stories, but, it's alot of fun to see the lead character being a strong intelligent female as opposed to the usual muscular clod. As an extra bonus, readers are treated to a truley gorgeous cover courtesy of renowned fantasy artist Borris. The only problem readers will have is finding a copy of this book. It is long out of print and may not be available in local used bookstores or libraries. However, if you go to the trouble of finding a copy, you won't be disappointed.

A bold, new, FEMALE warrior is upon us!
This is a refreshing book for those who are tired of the same old cliche' in fantasy novels ( strong muscle bound oaf takes on the world). It centers on a beautiful, flame tressed woman who happens to be intelligent( heaven forbid!) She is one Red Sonja and she is fantastic reading. Check this out, you won't be dissapointed.

Where are the Pirates?
It should be called "Patriots and Portraits". I have the book and went to see the show, but the title is a misnomer. You will be very disappointed if you are looking for N. C. Wyeth's pirate paintings. The are no Pirate paintings. The N.C. Wyeth paintings are mainly war and patriotic painting. The Jamie Wyeth paintings are mainly portraits of patriots.

The Two Greatest Wyeths
This book shows the comparison of grandfather (N.C) and grandson's (Jamie) work. An excellent study. I have always considerend N.C.'s work superior to any of the other Wyeths, Andrew specifically and in particular. This book pretty much affirms it. Check it out.

A pretty good anthology
Let's face it, most people won't be buying this volume by choice--they'll buy it for a class. Still, it's good to know what you're getting into. This is a pretty good anthology of American literature, starting all the way back with Native American myths and Columbus's journals and continuing through Puritan, Enlightenment, Transcendentalist, Romantic, and modern periods of literature in America.

The introductions to the pieces are good--as good or better than Norton's--and the selections themselves are generally good. Still, though, there are a few notable things missing, but that is to be expected in any compendium, I suppose.

One of the highlights of this volume is the full reprints of Benjamin Franklin's Autobiography and Mark Twain's Huckleberry Finn. If you have to buy this book, it should be useful and may even be worth keeping around after the class is over. I know I'm going to keep mine.

Not all Daughters are Sugar and Spice
In the fourth volume in the adventures of Red Sonja, our heroine must deal with a gang of street urchins, an insane sorceress (Endithor's daughter), political inintrigue, and a vampire. Needless to say, the action is fast and furious. In the end the wicked are punished, and the virtuous live happily ever after. Actually, only the virtuous who are still alive at the end get to live happily ever after, but why quibble? All in all an exciting addition to the Red Sonja canon. As with all books in the series, the cover art is provided by Boris, and in my humble opinion, this is his best cover for the series

It's OK I guess
Having a vetinory background, I frankly think that some of the so-called 'cures' are a bit dubious, but this book really helped when our flock came down with red-scruff mange last sprong, so I guess it falls somewhere between "invaluable" and "childish scrawlings".

Great Reference and learning Tool
Goat Medicine is a MUST for folks who have goats and want to understand and learn about goat health and diseases. Don't run your veterinarian off! but this book can help the owner/manager recognize symptons, understand prevention and work out reasonable treatments...treatments that work into an already too busy day. Yes, there is theory.... Great if you like to understand and run ideas through your own head. skip that part, if it doesn't make sense, and go onto more basics-- prevention, control, treatment.

If my 75 animals aren't 100%, this is the first book I open. And the book stays on my truck seat, kitchen table, bedside until some questions are answered. There are many books with basic goat care. If that is what you want, fine. If you want to dig a little deeper, understand goat health and learn more about your animals, then THIS IS THE BOOK FOR YOU!! Well worth the money..just by saving/helping one animal.
P.S. Exceptional for international goat health..if that's your thing.

A cracking good read for old billys and young kids alike!
Never in all my years have I found such a moving and touching tale, disguised within the often dry confines of a medical textbook.

Full kudos to the authors, and to those bounders who complained about the lack of detailed information in the "poison plant" section, well, what do you think your village wise-woman is there for? Certainly not her good looks, at any rate.
