A true ocean's journey
Elsa Warnick's beautiful watercolors coupled with Seymour Simon's words create a new understanding, that is to the point, of animal migration. Simon covers every ocean species from the American Eel to the great migrator - the whale. This book is a must have for any child or elementary school teacher.

Who can resist baby animals?
Baby animals have a natural appeal to most children (and to many adults, too). Seymour Simon's "Wild Babies" is a good book for those interested in this topic. Directed towards younger readers, this book covers animal babies of many different species and geographic regions: kangaroos, emperor penguins, dolphins, alligators, giraffes, and more.

Each of the 13 species profiles consists of a two-page spread: a full-color, full page photograph on one page, with a simply written but informative text on the facing page. The book is full of memorable images: an elephant matriarch guarding her herd's babies, a polar bear cub and mother ambling across the arctic landscape, a baboon family engaged in a relaxing grooming session, and more. This is an outstanding book for the family library.

Everything you ever wanted to know about winter...
Well, boys and girls, up here in the Northland we know all about winter, which lasts from Halloween until Easter. So the beautiful photographs of trees covered in snow and ice are pretty much standard fare in this neck of the woods. But "Winter Across America" takes us from the musk ox of the Article Circle to anhinga of the Everglades. As nice as the pictures are the explanation of all things winter from Seymour Simon is even better. Simon has written more than one hundred science books for children and it shows. He covers a lot of information in a clear and concise manner, all the while making it seems like he is telling you about all these neat things rather than lecturing you. This 1992 book has excellent production values and I liked the snow motif that is used under each page of text. "Winter Across America" is written for upper elementary school students, although the information level is certainly adequate for students in junior high as well. In fact, I would not be surprised if teachers did not use this book as a reference source for a unit on Winter. This is the second in a series depicting the changing season, following "Autumn Across America." You can connect the dots and take a wild guess what the other two volumes are called.

Jupiter
This book is abut Jupiter.Did you know it has sixteen moons? There are other books in this series. They are all about the solar system.I gave this book four stars.Read it if you want to find out more about Jupiter.

Jupiter by Seymour Simon
Jupiter, by Seymour Simon is a very educational, easy to read book talking about our Solar System's largest planet. I especially liked all the interesting facts mentioned i this book and it was an informational and short read. Some of the facts that I found fasciating in this book were that Jupiter is one-and-one-half times as big as the other eiht planets put together, Jupiter's atmosphere is mostly made up of hydrogen gas, and the temperature is 250 degrees Fahrenheit below zero. This book also has some really good pages describing Jupiter's moons, an extremely informative page describing the Great Red Spot- Jupiter's super-hurricane more than twice the size of Earth-, and a page on the thin ring encircling this super-planet. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants detailed information on our largest planet. The color photographs in this book are amazing and really cool to look at.

Snakes
My 5 year old son absolutely adores this book. The pictures are terrific and it had a few of the Cobras which are his favorites. It is also filled with very good information on a large variety of snakes. I think any child interested in snakes should take a look at this one. I plan to purchase more of Seymour Simon's books.

Great Resource for Education
I recently taught a unit to a second grade class on Wolves. This book was very resourceful to me and enjoyable to the children. The pictures are breathtaking and it is filled with a variety of wolf information. Although, I feel that the reading level is slighlty above ages 4-8. I would suggest, for independant reading, ages 8-10 perhaps.

Who's afraid of the big bad wolf?
This is a wonderful book written by the renowned naturalist R.D.Lawrence that aims to introduce school children to the world of the wolf. Lawrence is one of the foremost experts on wildlife, and has written many books for adults, but this book is aimed at a much younger audience. Children from nine years and onwards will thoroughly enjoy this colorful book that is filled with amazing photos and an interesting narrative that takes the young reader deep into the lair of the wolf. Lawrence presents his experience of wolves in the wild as well as other interesting facts such as the historical distribution of the wolves over the centuries and how wolves differ from other canine species. This is a well written book that will draw the child into the strange and wonderful world of the wolf. However this book is more suitable for the older reader; younger readers would probably enjoy looking at the many photos and drawings but the narrative is aimed at a child with better than average reading skills. Several younger children that I know of who have been introduced to this book as a learning aid were keener on the colorful drawings/sketches than the photos (though they did like them) and they wanted a more interactive book. They especially liked it when Lawrence "asked" them questions such as "Is it a wolf or coyote?" and then described the difference briefly whilst showing a sketch of a wolf and a coyote. It would be great if another book about wolves could be published to meet the needs of younger readers (age group 4 to 8 years) because there obviously is a niche that could be filled. All the same this is an excellent learning aid for the older child, as well as being a beautiful book that charts the rise, fall and rise again of the supposed big "bad" wolf.

Jason & Trucks
The story I read about was about trucks. I practically love trucks myself, their one of my favorite vehicles besides old hotrods...
This story had all kinds of trucks which do different jobs such as the logging truck, it carries logs to places. I liked the big monster truck...
Trucks come in different sizes and shapes. They can do all kinds of jobs including farm work, help carry building materials, deliver mail for the postal service, and fire fighters use trucks to put out fires.
This book was as good book but it left out a truck, a pickup truck. This truck book was a good book other than the pickup truck they left out.
