lack of knowledge
just open the first sample page. you see that the author does not even understand what profit maximization, as defined by economists, is. i would be careful if i were you.

I passed
I would recommend this book if you are looking to pass the DANTES principles of finance test. The contents of the book match well with the test subjects, and I was able to pass the test. The pass rate for this test is 21%, and this was the only study aid I used.

It is really good for Students
Okay in Brief- there is 1042 solved questions.
This book is really good and it is very useful for students and beginners as well. You will never regret buying it at all. just go and buy it and pray for me.

Appear to be some math errors in this book
I find this book to be well organized and easy to read. There is a great deal of useful material that does not go over anyone's head.

I think there are some math errors - I looked mostly in the CAPITAL BUDGETING chapter. On page 328, the present value of 3.3073 should be 3.0373 with disasterous results.

On page 348, the formulae for Standard Deviation appear to be totally wrong. Frankly I am amazed by these errors and they put most of the of math the book into serious question. I didn't continue into this chapter after this as I no longer trust the math - so beware and check for yourself.

This is unfortunate - except for some simple yet devastating errors, I like the book a great deal. Just too bad.

Complete Accounting Guide
This book was not only helpful with creating our companies budget, but it went into complete detail of every day functions our company should be performing. It outlined who should be responsible for what aspects of not only the budget but for daily, weekly, and monthly reports. The book was complete with diagrams and easy to follow samples. It was an easy read besides. The book has become part of our reference library.

very informative
informative, but not highly readable. Its worded very much like a textbook. But the information within is solid. It covers almost all the basic elements of entrepreneurship. I think its a great stepping stone for someone who knows nothing about starting his/her own business. From vc's to ipo's, its all in this book. But unless your going to start a business any time soon, it may be too specific. Either way, knowledge is power baby!

Lots of help!
Starting off, I had no idea where to begin which the financial management of a non-profit. I was worried this book would read through like an accounting textbook, but that is not the case at all. The book gives practical advice about running a non-profit and how this differs for a for-profit organization. There are also a lot of basic financial statements to use as examples. While this book did not contain all the information I was looking for, I found it to be a great starting point in my learning process.

Good Investment
I bought this book to complement a senior level financial accounting course that I was took. The book is concise, provides plenty of examples, and helps to solidify theories & actual practices of financial accounting. There's also plenty of exercises to go through to help solidify your practical understanding of the material. I found that it was particulary useful to help me review & brush up before my tests in my financial accounting course. Overall a good investment.

Great quick-reference guide for all business people
I found this guide to be a great resource for a variety of business needs. The cover of the book refers to it as a great reference for the CFO and the like. I want to expand that to say it is a great quick-reference book for all business people. Whether you're in entry-level sales, middle management, or executive level, you need to understand the financial basis for each decision. This book allows even a financial novice to quickly get enough information to intelligently approach financial issues.

Is there a software with this book?
I want to know about this book. Are there Jobshop Scheduling or Queing(assing n job for m machine for minimum idle time)and I finding the software about it.

Good General Reference
Pretty good general reference. Does not go into depth but I don't think that's the purpose of the book. Gives you enough insight to be able to do further research or at least understand what the brod concepts are.

A Mile Wide And An Inch Thin
For an experienced financial professional, this text does not add much value. The book touches upon a great many subjects, but does not appear to cover any one in any depth. The book may be most appropriate as an introductory text on the subject on the undergraduate level but not as a practioner's desk reference. As a professional with significant experience in investment banking with a CPA and MBA, I was looking for in-depth guide to the specific mechnanics of the contoller's function.

broad coverage but not in depth explanation
It has a broad coverage in topics and gives you a reasonably good introduction as well as some tips such as pros and cons of getting into certain types of transacrtions, etc., when you want to look up an topic that is not familiar to you. However, naturally due to the neture of any reference book, you would need to look for other textbooks if you want to dig into more. One thing that needs a little improvement is that there are at least a few errors in calculations and/or application of formulas (e.g. calculations related to lease transactions), which may bother you, especialy because you are looking to this handbook when you want to have a good idea on whatever the topic you are looking at since you are not too familiar with the topic....

"Overview" more like it.
I expected a "handbook" to show more useful detail. Not bad, but there are better desk books for the money.
