Wonderful ideas and pictures. Beautiful book.
The pictures are wonderful and the directions on how to make the different projects are fairly good although they could be a bit more specific on the quantities and types of dried material required. All in all I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in learning how to make topiaries and pomanders or to get great gift ideas.

impressive debut
This is an impressive debut. The opening poem about harriet tubmun is one of the best that i have ever read. All of the poems are written in a very conversational tone, yet not too elementary, which is a refreshing change from most contemporary poetry which is esoteric. If you like anything by E. Ethelbert Miller then you will love this book.

It kept me busy for a little while!
Even though this book wasn't very realistic, I was still going to give it a chance. The premise sounded interesting: A woman goes to a "life enhancement" doctor because she finds fault with her husband and wants to "enhance" him. That seems to be the age old question: "How do you change a man?" Well, for Elizabeth Baskin, that proved to be easy, with the doctors herbs from South America!--or something to that effect. She drops it into his orange juice every morning, and tah-dah! He is a changed person! He has become more attentive, more loving, more amorous! He has become so perfect, in fact, that he wants to make her perfect as well, nitpicking every thing she does, much like SHE DID before she slipped him the drugs!!!

Unfortunately, throughout the book, it went up and down, like a rollercoaster. She touched on something interesting, then it went back to the ---I think someone else's review explained it perfectly--- Lucy and Ethel routine! Elizabeth, and her friend Clover, try to break into the doctors office, end up in jail, and make friends with a prisoner named "Cherry." After that, it became a little bit too predictable for me. There were some extra added subplots (Chris Eckersly, the Cherry stuff, hotel manager holding her captive) that just wasn't needed.) I did like the detailed description of her job, reviewing hotels. That was very interesting.

Usually, I need a little more depth when I read novels (not entirely true, because I like chick lit) but if there is no depth, it should at least be fun. It just wasn't too fun, or funny for me. Maybe good for some, but not good enough for me.

I love Jane Heller's books
I have read all of Jane Heller's books. This one was excellent.

This perticular book is about a woman who is unhappy with her husband and would like him to be more attentive to her. Jane writes this book in "first person" so you feel like she is talking directly to you. She goes to a doctor who gives her medication to have him enhanced, but as the saying goes, "becareful what you wish for, it just might come true" She has a few twists and turns with the Characters and I just
loved it. I recommend it to all who would like some "reading
candy" or just read it for the fun of the story!

Keeps getting better!
I am a new fan of Jane Heller's - working my way up to reading her collection of wonderful books. Her imagination paired with realism is a masterpiece!

This book hit so close to home for me! Elizabeth Baskin is married to Roger and is not happy with her marriage. She feels as if the "thrill" is gone. He doesn't pay as much attention to his looks, he works too much, gained weight, makes messes with English Muffin crumbs every morning (and doesn't clean them up) and falls asleep on the couch at night watching TV...sound familiar?????

Elizabeth finds out about a "Life Enhancement" doctor who seems to have the answer to Roger's problem through a potion made up of herbs from Central America. She meets the doctor and is given what he called "The Stud Stimulant" that she is to sneak into his morning OJ or coffee. When the first dose doesn't take affect fast enough, being impatient she gives him double doses.

Needless to say, Roger is back to the man she first fell in love with. His sex drive is nonstop, he buys new clothes, goes to the gym, watches what he eats.

Sounds like the perfect potion, right? But, what about if he wants sex so much - that YOU can't keep up with him? What if
he becomes so obsessed with working out and eating healthy that he begins to complain about how YOU look?

In the beginning of the book, you learn that Elizabeth is employed with a company that sends her to 5 star hotels. She gets to stay there free, make impossible demands and inspect them to see if they remain 5 stars. I am thinking, this would be the PERFECT job for me! But, as I finished the book - I realized that NOTHING is perfect. Not a hotel, not a marriage, not you and not me.

Jane's books always give me a little bit more wisdom and a smile as I close the book.

Nice - but only 2 stars for this "booklet".
Beverly Lewis is one of my favorite writers, but this time, she failed to have enought story line to fill a whole book!

Sarah Cain, 28, is a successful real estate broker living in Portland, Oregon. She is financially well off, but suffers from an unresolved guilt from a past accident which killed a little girl. She is evading, and running from her chance of happiness with Bryan.

Sarah has long been partially estranged from her only sister, 34 yr. old Ivy. Therefore, when widowed Ivy dies unexpectedly, Sarah is shocked that her will names Sarah as guardian for the five orphaned minor children.

Ivy's family is Amish, living on a large farm in Lancaster County, PA. Heavily featured in this book is the oldest child, 16 yr. old Lydia. Disciplined, dutiful and sensitive, Lydia fills in as mother until Sarah can arrive. She is biding her time until she can marry Levi King.

Sarah's selfish independence and her love of wealth and its' trappings conflict with the simple, Amish lifestyle of her nephews and nieces. Therefore, she sets about to solve her uncomfortable new status quickly by flying to Lancaster for one week, during which time she is determined to find a nice Amish home for the children.

Obviously, Beverly Lewis has a future for this fractured family, and the ending is all too abrupt and predictable, not at all like her 3 book Shunning series. That, in particular is why I gave the book only 2 stars. The material is great and it was interesting, but there was not nearly enough to fill a complete book and I was disappointed with its' lack of depth.

Good but a little disappointed
I've read all of Beverly Lewis' books but the Sunroom, and have loved all of them. The Redemption of Sarah Cain, I read in little over a day. I thought it was really good. I liked how the character Sarah Cain was portrayed. How she was so in love with her life and her material things, it started to make me angry. =) Once I started to get towards the end of the book, I thought there was going to be a sequel, because I didn't feel it could have ended in so little of pages left. Well this was the disappointing part for me, within the last 15 pages of the book, everything was solved. I thought the entire book had a good pace but at the end it just went so quickly. I was glad it was a happy ending though. Please don't take me wrong it was a VERY good book and really worth reading. I look forward as always to reading the next book from her.

I loved this book!
This was another great Beverly Lewis based on the life of the Amish. I am fascinated with the Amish. This story is about Sarah Cain whose widowed sister dies living behind 5 young children and requests Sarah as guardian to raise the children. Sarah and Ivy were not raised Amish but Ivy and her husband had joined the New-Order Amish. Sarah is a big city gal with a career and must choose between her familiar lifestyle and a much different life in Lancaster County. During this time she must work through many issues that have been troubling her for years. Reading this book is further insight into the Amish lifestyle and the children is this book are enjoyable and inspirational.

His Secret Child (Thorndike Large Print Silhouette Series)

it was nice
This book started off well. Good sexy hero, interesting strong heroine and a background that had potential.

Unfortunately though, there was nothing too special about this book. Despite the potential for all kinds of interesting developments, Ms. Barton didn't take advantage of them. Caleb had a debilitating injury and a lot of guilt to work through. Sheila had a secret and a mother's protective instincts. And they had a history. An eleven year old history.

As a result, this became a romance between 3 people. The sexual tension and emotional turmoil that can really be explosive when stretched between a couple was diluted to include the needs and desires of the child.

After this series I think I'll stick to Ms. Barton's longer titles where she has room to really show her talents.

A strong beginning for a gudiebook geared toward Gay travel.
The publication of the guidebook automatically makes it destined for success. Since there are so few guidebooks for Gay travelers, these specialized editions are long overdue and extremely welcome. Future editions should include color photographs, brief interviews with local men and women in the various cities, brief commentaries by travelers---listing the good, the bad, and the 'watch out'! These brief commentaries can include the actual experiences of travellers. They can write of who they met, where, and what transpired. All of course in a friendly and dignified (?) manner. Then too, it would be helpful for the traveller to get specific addresses of not only the bars, restaurants, and tourist hangouts, but also the spots that are frequented by local gays. Advise the reader of any friendship clubs or organizations in the various cities. Tell the reader about friendly citizens that are willing to act as guides or informational services. This is the real world. It's time for Senor Cordova to compete with Moon, Lonely Planet, and Fodor's Publications. He will definitely get a good share of the market!

Pretty fluffy read
This book was definitely a light read. The "hero", Jack, didn't do much heroic throughout the book. I didn't have that "Whoah, I want this guy on my side" feeling through most of the book because he primarily watched "the bad guy" without having much interaction with him until the end. The main female character, Carly, was the typical smart, tough girl beaten down by circumstances. The premise of the cattle drive seemed far-fetched. I couldn't understand why the Feds, knowing they had their "bad guy" and the money, let innocent people go off into the wilderness with a highly successful assassin and only one man to watch over them. And, even more important than that, when Carly was undressing Jack, how did she manage to get his jeans off BEFORE his boots? Now that's a good question!

HORRIBLE! Shame on Beverly Lewis!
This was the most awful and depressing book I have ever read. I don't understand how Beverly Lewis ever got it published! Who would like it? People who constantly want to feel sorry for themselves, that's who! It was supposed to be based on her childhood, you would have thought she could have made it more interesting than that. Read "The Postcard" and "The Crossroad", which are beautifully written, but don't lay a finger on this one! If you should be so unfortunate to get it as a gift, please run screaming for the hills!

A 12 yr old girl sacrifices -proving her love for her mother
12 yr. old Becky loves God, her Mother, and her tremendously talented piano playing. Being the older of 2 girls in her family, she tries to set a Godly example for her younger sister by maturing during the absence of their young mother. The thing she wants most is for her Mother to get well and return home and she thinks she can strike a bargain with God to bring this about. Her father is the pastor of their small church and struggles with his wife's illness, his responsibilities to his church and the welfare of his 2 daughters. Becky is sure the Sunroom must be a beautiful place and wishes she could visit her mother in person there, but first she has to live up to her end of the bargain with God. This is not easy, considering she has offered to completely give up the one thing that consumes her thoughts, fills her lonely time and brings her some measure of peace!

A precious story with a surprising ending...
Beverly Lewis is an extremely gifted "Christian" writer, obviously focusing her talents on conveying messages in wholesome, respectful manners. This is a beautiful yet heart-wrenching story of a young girl's struggle with life, death, and change. There are many lessons about love, trust, and faith to be learned in reading this simple yet elegant acccount. You will weep, then rejoice in the final chapters. I highly recommend this book to anyone with a heart.

too generic for the breed.
This book has the basics but it is obvious that Four Paws has their hands in this. The book advertises Four Paws Products and the rest is basics. This book is not written from a knowledgable viewpoint. It is a bunch of hype. There are other MUCH better written books on the breed. My favorite is a new book by well known breeder of Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Barbara Garnet-Smith. I've recommendend her book to all my new puppy owners.

beautiful pictures and much basic information
I loved this book. So many beautiful pictures of the cavalier king charles. I am the proud owner of Lily, 8mths old and the book helped me tremendously when it came to basic information. HOw to house train, what to feed her, how to bathe her. I highly recomend this book.

His Woman, His Child (Thorndike Large Print Silhouette Series)

not up to Ms. Barton's standards
These two annoyed me. Hank and Susan have wanted each other for years. Hank and Susan are pregnant because Susan's dead husband begged Hank to donate his sperm. When we get to the real story, both the h & h lack the courage to go after what they really want - each other. Instead of being honest and talking with each other, they allowed themselves to be dictated by other people's opinions of how they should live their lives. This book was 200 pages of "We shouldn't do this. We shouldn't feel this, but I really want you" until they finally realized that as adults, they can do and feel whatever they please.
