A persuasive sell, packed, practical and fast paced.
Just like all the other portable MBA books. This book is packed with pretty useful ideas. It is very focused and so you 'll need to be as well when you read it.

Why did I go to B-school?
This book boils all of the marketing concepts I learned while in B-school(and some I didn't) into an easy read format. The only thing missing is that annoying quant-jock who sat behind my chewing gum the entire semester! If you just want a great introduction to marketing, or are an MBA looking to refresh your understanding of the 4P's, pick-up this book. You won't be disappointed.

Focuses on customer needs, preferences & expectations
Companies flying high on economic good times may be in danger of forgetting the business fundamentals that underlie their success. Increased focus on the bottom line, competitive strategies, and financial goals divert attention from the primary source of every company's good fortune-the customer. The Portable MBA in Marketing, second edition, is dedicated to the principle that the only guarantee for continued success is a consistent focus on and attention to customer needs, preferences, and expectations.

This powerful tool for business success in the twenty-first century furnishes bright, ambitious managers with a solid grounding in MBA-level marketing theory and practice. Fully updated and expanded, this new edition emphasizes fresh marketing strategies and cutting-edge marketing concepts and techniques that help keep you in touch with your customers. It focuses on the key issues facing companies today, including how to outperform competitors, anticipate future trends, improve advertising and sales, build customer loyalty, and market on the Internet.

Charles D. Schewe, PhD, is a principal at Lifestage Matrix Marketing and a full professor at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He has authored ten books and more than fifty articles on marketing. Alexander Hiam is the author of a dozen books, including Marketing for Dummies, The Vest-Pocket Marketer, and The Entrepreneur's Complete Sourcebook.

From the back...
Once Deborah Vaughn had loved Ashe McLaughlin with all of her teenage heart. Then he'd disappeared, leaving Deborah with nothing...except the son they'd created. Now Ashe was back, insisting she play the part of his lover.
Ashe had never forgotten Deborah and the night of passion they'd shared, or the way her father had railroaded him out of town. But as the star witness in a murder trial, Deborah needed Ashe, and he would do anything to keep her safe...and the safest place for her was in his arms.

In my Opinion...
Ashe is called back to his hometown by Deborah's mother. Ashe is told that Deborah is in need of a bodyguard. Deborah witnesses a murder and plans to testify against the man, however, someone is threatning her life and trying to keep her from telling what she knows. Ashe never thought that he would return home after Deborah's father ran him out of town, but how could he say no when Deborah's life was on the line. Ashe moves in with Deborah, her mother, and her brother. Deborah hoped to never see Ashe again after he left her years ago. She has never told anyone that her brother is actually her son, and Ashe's--not even Ashe. Now the man is living in her house and around their son and she is scared that he will find out the truth. But what happens when Deborah discovers the truth, that her own father accused Ashe of rape and ran him out of town. I had a hard time with this book and it was only because of my strong belief that every man has a right to know that he fathered a child. Ashe was never told about his son and to me that is simply unforgivable. Deborah may have been young and scared to go against her father, but later after she had gotten older and her father died she should have found Ashe and told him about their son. The book was good and another great addition to The Protectors series. The only problem with the book came from my own beliefs.

Having His Baby (Thorndike Large Print Silhouette Series)

the best of this series
This is the third book of Ms. Barton's "3 Babies for 3 Brothers" series (though it should have been called 3 pregnancies for 3 widows) and it's the most enjoyable of the lot. Our heroine starts off the book with only the child and the memory of our hero. Our hero starts off the book being blind-sided by our heroine's pregnancy and determination to keep him out of her life.

Then they have to work at it. They have to make a conscious decision that they're going to live beyond their pasts and find the courage to be together. That's what I liked about this book, both the hero and the heroine had to work at the relationship. It didn't just work itself out because they fell in lust. It's not the best book ever - the dialogue with the secondary characters felt stilted and unrealistic, the plot was too convenient. But I liked and could understand the main couple. I wanted them to be together and by the end I believed that they had what it takes to stay together.

A VERY GOOD READ
KEEPING ANNIE SAFE is a wonderful story revolving two very strong-willed people. The passion that ignites between the two and the danger involved will keep you on the edge of your seat and ready to jump into a cold shower. It's a book worthy of your time and money.

Hands-On Learning
I used this book as a guide to teaching Patterns to a Kindergarten class during my Student-Teaching this past year. As with the other Investigations units I have had experience with, I find the results to be absolutely amazing. The activities are fun for the students and well-organized for the teacher. At the same time, there is a lot of flexibility allowed for the educator to adapt the curriculum to his/her own teaching methods. It's just a great resource to use in the classroom!

A Preview of the Summer Hill Secrets collection
These are exceptionally well written books! The story makes youfeel like you also have an Amish family as neighbors. You can learnabout a young girl's life and her many adventures with friends, school, and family. Although not everyone is facing the same dilemas as Merry ,the main character in these books, many can relate to having friendships that are worth a sacrafice. I recommend these books to everyone. It will keep you interested for hours.

Unique mosaic and broken china projects
This is a wonderful book with great ideas to make with broken china and old/ugly tile that needs refurbishing. However, I have found that there are a few difficulties with this book. The author refers to PVA glue which cannot be found at local hardware stores and doesn't use a manufacturer's product name (come to find out this is actually close to Elmer's white or yellow glue). Also, there appears to be an error on pages 32 and 33 - please look at them as the instructions repeat themselves and there is no Day Two instructions so you can't finish the project- which is one of the projects I had planned on doing. As much as I love her ideas, I'm having a difficult time finding the products she uses and the suppliers list in the back were not helpful and some were no longer attainable on the internet. Someone needs to contact the author and ask her for clarification on the products that she used (especially for the fountain project).
