Michael and Natalie LOVE the Poppleton books!
Our names are Michael and Natalie. We are 2nd graders at Anna Merritt Elementary School in Lockport, NY. Our favorite book is Poppleton Forever. The characters are Newhouse, Poppleton, Cherry Sue, and Fillmore. Michael's favorite part is when Cherry Sue got stuck in the wallpaper. Natalie's favorite part is when Poppleton painted.

Sweet and entertaining
My 4-year-old daughter loves this book. It has three stories, each on a different topic. She insists we read all three each time, and they are not long so it's OK. The language rolls off the tongue and is fun to read aloud. Pictures are cute, and characters whimsical and sweet. She also is learning about the concept of a Table of Contents because the three stories are listed there.

Poppleton in Spring
Another gem from Cynthia Rylant! Great blend of sweet and silly. My six year old can read some of it, but it is neither simplistic nor boring (like so many "early readers").

Cobble Street Cousins - Special Gifts
The "special gift" is this book and the entire series of Cobble Street Cousins. I am the proud mother of four lovely daughters and what a pleasure to find such a sweetly written book. I have recommended this book to friends with daughters and they have loved it as well. It is hard to find a morally appropriate, light, non-violent book for young girls. Thank you, thank you, thank you! This is the type of book all little girls should grow up on.

The Heavenly Village: A heavenly read
My nine year old daughter brought this book home from her school library and passed it on to me after she read it. I read it in less than an hour and it made me cry at the end. I like to think that there really is such a place! The tear jerker for me was when God visits the potter and he's just a little shy about bothering him so late at night while he's working. I never thought of God as being shy. I'm going to buy a few copies for gifts and myself!
A true treasure to read!
This book was such a treasure to read! The short, easy prose was like honey to my heart. But the content was beautiful as well. Ms Rylant has portrayed the hereafter sensibly, biblically and very lovingly. We got this from our library, but I plan to buy several copies for gifts, and to keep. This is one of those books that will be better with each subsequent reading!
An outstanding book
This book helps make sense for people dealing with the unexpected loss of a loved one. The book is extremely good for children and adults alike. It is simple and not haughty or deeply theological. It is a quick easy read whose philosophy can be interpreted at both the child and adult levels. The book helped me realize that death need not be the big monster in the closet that no one wants to talk about. Death, by this book's definition, is a natural progression, even if it comes early in one's life. The end is yet just another beginning.

Some Very Good News
It was a very good book. I like the characters because they are pretty and it is fun to hear their thoughts. The characters have good ideas. I also like books with pictures, they help me figure out what is going on in the story and this book has several pictures. I really liked the Junie B. Jones books and was looking for other books to read. I finally found the Cobble Street Cousins series and really enjoy them.
This book is about...
I like this book because I like its' newspaper. It showed me how Lily Rosie and Tess put a newspaper together. It's a lot like the newsletter than Morgan and Julia and I write.

The cookie cat and the bakers
This book is about a cookie-store and bakers. It was night and the baker looked and saw a kitten. The bakers bought the kitten a bag of cat food, a little gray bed and a white dish that said Kitty on it. The bakers decided to keep the kitten. This book uses really good and amazing pictures by Cynthia Rylant. I think if you are 5 or older you would really like this book.
Sweet dream of a book
My children, 5 and 6, love this book. We checked it out so many times from the library I finally had to buy it so other children could enjoy it. While my children liked the images of a cat's peaceful and safe life (and the cookies), I liked the book because it reinforces the message of showing kindness to animals. The bakers' kindness and humanity towards the cat and children is a message which can never be repeated too often. We also liked the cookie recipes at the back of the book.

Marcus' review on Henry and Mudge and the Starry Night
I liked this book because it's about camping and I like camping. The fish had a great picture. Henry's mother was setting up the camp and the really funny part was when Mudge unpacked a ham sandwich and it looked like a bunch of leaves. His dad brought his guitar and a smile on his face because he was happy to be camping. It was funny when Henry and Mudge thought that there were bears so they were hugging each other. I thought it was a good book because in the end Mudge does something really funny but you have to read the book to find out what it is.
Henry and Mudge and the Starry Night
In their 17th adventure together Henry & Mudge go camping with Henry's parent. Out at Big Bear Lake they take A Good Smelly Hike & have some sweet Green Dreams. While Henry's mother organizes the trip because she's been a Camp Fire Girl & Henry's dad brings along his guitar & a willing back, Henry and Mudge imagine what they'll see on their camping trip. Ah, here comes summer - let's go camping together! Great early reader. ()
Henry and Mudge and the Starry Night
We have every one of the Henry and Mudge books and have been reading them to our daughter since she was two. She is four now and she still loves them. We would reccommend these books for both boys and girls. There is a Henry and Mudge book for every occassion. Henry and Mudge and the Starry Night is perfect to prepare for a camping trip. The feeling of a campout comes through loud and clear and the story is delightful.

A Cool Book!
I liked this book because it's a good and funny book. The way Mr. Putter keeps on saying, "Are you sure? Are you sure? Are you very, very, sure? " is funny. It's it a little easy to read. It reminded me of Poppleton. Most kids would like this book. (age 8)
Mr. Putter's Train Ride
In this book, Mr. Putter and Mrs. Teaberry try to bring their pets, Tabby (the cat) and Zeke (the dog) on the train. When they find out that they can't, Mr. Putter comes up with a scheme to bring the pets on the ride.
This story helps kids realize that Mr. Putter can come up with a good plan and can be kind of "naughty" in a good way.

In this third book, though, Little Whistle has to don his medical gear because Soldier cannot tell the bedtime story as he is ill with a headache.
Little Whistle comes to the rescue! After hopping into a toy train, he finds a toy first-aid kit and helps his friend with bandages and toy medicine. Little Whistle has cured his friend and Soldier is now able to tell his night stories to all the toys--and to Little Whistle.
Wonderful drawings and a wonderful book for children.
