Henry and Mudge and the Forever Sea
I picked this book out at our local library for my two year old daughter because she loves dogs and the beach. It turned out to be such a big hit that I am buying it! She of course can't read, but enjoyed the story and pictures very much. She loves Mudges playfullness and had just been to the beach recently so she could relate to Henry and his father playing in the water. The length of the story is just right also for her. It's a wonderful book and we are buying two more from the series besides this one!

We love Mudge!
These funny, easy to read chapter books are a favorite in our house. Henry and his drooling dog, Mudge are the best of friends and love one another tremendously. In this story, Henry and Mudge learn to love a bedraggled cat that looks like "mushed prunes". The illustrations add to the humor of the story.

Adorable and fun!
Henry buys a spy kit. He and his dog, Mudge, canvas the neighborhood to "flirt with danger" and "steal secrets". One day Henry finds a secret code and is determined to crack it. Funny, adorable, irresistable Mudge is a favorite at house! He can even get my reluctant reader eager to see what happens next. Easy reading level with short chapters gives the hesitant reader a real sense of accomplishment.

A gem of a book for kids and parents alike
Stumbling upon the Henry and Mudge books was like stumbling upon a gold mine. My first grader and my preschooler absolutely love these books. This one is my personal favorite but every one of these adventures is wonderful. Rylant uses simple words so beautifully. I can't think of a better way for us to help our children learn to love reading than by giving them books that tell great stories in such well-written fashion. Although the stories are about a boy and his dog, they appeal to my daughters, neither of whom even like dogs (or boys, for that matter). Six and seven-year olds should be able to read them for themselves, and younger children will love to hear them read over and over. If you're looking for a great series of books for 4-7 year olds, check out all of the books in this series.

Henry and Mudge in the Sparkle Days
Henry and Mudge in the Sparkle Days

Henry and Mudge enjoy the winter season in this delightful collection of three short stories. The words are easy and the type is large enough for the beginning reader to feel comfortable. This book is filled with humorous illustrations that extend the text. In one illustration Henry is sliding a reluctant Mudge across an icy pond. In another picture Mudge messes up Henry's snow angel. This is a good book for the younger set.

We love Mudge!
In this book Henry and his big dog, Mudge, enjoy the escapades of fall. They shake together as Henry's mom tells scary Halloween stories and together they endure the Thanksgiving visit from Aunt Sally. These books are a favorite for my reluctant reader. The love between Henry and his dog Mudge is heart-warming.

Fun!
This book is the Spanish version of "Henry and Mudge in Puddle Trouble". Funny story about Henry and his big dog Mudge, as they enjoy springtime adventures together. Henry is disappointed when Mudge eats a snow glory he has been waiting to pick. Henry and Mudge decide to enjoy a mud puddle, and Mudge becomes the protector of five baby kittens. Fun story and adorable pictures!

fun and feminine
My daughter loves these books! They are filled with warm, happy relationships, fun craft projects and girlish adventures she can relate too. Junie B. Jones is a lot of fun, but my daughter is a softer, gentler person, and these gentle books fill her imagination. She loves to imagine herself in the attic with Tess.

cynthia rylant fans!
We love all of Cynthia Rylant's books and series of books, and The Lighthouse Family series is our new favorite! We are anxious to read the next book as soon as it comes out so we can know what happens to Pandora the cat, Seabold the dog and their three little mice children. Rylant uses wonderful words in her books, painting a beautiful story of words. (the illustrations in this book are beautiful too!) This is for a little older readers than her Mr. Putter and Tabby, Henry and Mudge, Poppleton, or Little Whistle series, ALL of which I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Sweet and entertaining
My 4-year-old daughter loves this book. It has three stories, each on a different topic. She insists we read all three each time, and they are not long so it's OK. The language rolls off the tongue and is fun to read aloud. Pictures are cute, and characters whimsical and sweet. She also is learning about the concept of a Table of Contents because the three stories are listed there.
