Jess Lederman is a genius
Jess Lederman, one of the editors of this book, has written or edited many books on mortgage banking, markets and interest rate risk - he is simply the most-informed writer on the subject, and if this is your area of interest I recommend you pick up anything he's been involved with and read it.

Defalco captures the very best of the beauty of Handel
This is the absolute best reference book on Handel lighting - period. Defalco & Company show that they are the number one authority on the subject of Handel. I have seen many reference publications with examples of Handel lighting but never such a comprehensive work such as this.

_Jung and Christianity in Dialogue: Faith, Feminism, and Hermeneutics_ is a rich and diverse collection of writings, from some of the foremost authors in the fields of religion and psychology. This companion volume to _Carl Jung and Christian Spirituality_ explores the relationships between Jungian psychology and Christian traditions in new and illuminating ways. It includes some of the finest articles yet contributed to this dialogue, organized into four different sections: "Jung and Theology" discusses Jung and Christian faith; "Jung, Feminism, and Spirituality" presents feminist critques of Jungian psychology; "Jung and Hermeneutics" explores Jung's interpretive approach to Christian scripture and theology; and "Jung and Pastoral Care" looks at the application of Jung's psychology for the parish minister and pastoral counselor.
Origin and Evolution of Viruses

All the news that's fit to print
The Origin and Evolution of Viruses is the most comprehensive and up-to-date treatment of virus genetics available today. Starting with pre-biological evolution in the primitive RNA world a billion years ago and coming right up to date with present concerns about HIV and hepatitis C, this book covers all aspects of virus genomes. The treatment of all the subjects is covered in depth and given the space needed - this is not a superficial review of a few virus families - just what one would have expected from editors as well respected as these. Although in places the book would have benefited from a little colour in the illustrations, and the mathematical treatment of some subjects may be off-putting to the uninitiated, this is required in a book which will undoubtedly become the definitive source on this subject in years to come.

nice practical book
This book is well written and includes many practical examples and illustrations. It provides Minitab macros for computations and includes modern advances including the bootstrap. These macros are written out in an appendix and the data sets used are also listed in an appendix. The data and macros can be used on the computer throught the floppy diskette that comes attached to the book. The authors show exact calculations of the bootstrap distribution for the median. This is useful text that I referenced in my book on the bootstrap. The level of the book is intermediate and is appropriate for an advanced undergraduate or a graduate course in modern statistical inference. It covers both the robust estimation of location and scale and has a nice bibliography of the literature as of 1990. It also includes many advanced topics such as the two-sample problem, robust regression and time series. Chapter 1 introduces modern advances in statistics and provides motivation for robust methods. The authors emphasize the importance of computing in modern statistics but also provide a sound warning against the over-reliance on computers. They make a serious effort to mix theory and practice, covering the important asymptotic results and theoretical concepts and also providing practical examples mainly from biology and the physical sciences.

A must-have reference book
What can one say for this bible of internal medicine ! Excellent algorithms, organised sections about the diseases with precise information are dominant in this book. It's a reference book with the ability to keep you satisfied no matter what you are looking for. If it's not in Harrison's it isn't anywhere !
A MUST BUY for the future Internist
This book is the Bible of Internal Medicine.
Anyone considering a career in medicine should have this book in their library.
Comprehensive and well written, it is the gold standard of medical textbooks.
Harrison's keeps being an authority in medicine
This book is a medical tradition, and it is as important to doctors as their stethoscope.
It is very complete, there is no doubt about it. Every subject of medicine is covered, and for a reference book is a must-have. It is also written in an easy-to-read way, but some chapters are more difficult to understand than others, and like a good meal, in excess it can get heavy and occasionally become a brick, so slow-reading is advised. Also worth to mention are the atlases, that give a lot of pictographic information.
I would recommend it only as a reference book, because for the USMLE, or as a course textbook, it is impossible to read it all, especially if time is scarce.
