I was given this book by a friend in 1984 when my grandmother died. I did not read it then. But, when my father died in 1994, I finally picked this book up and read it. The revised version (which you can purchase now with the additional poems, etc.) is even better than the old version I received in 1984. It's tremendous and very spiritually uplifting and healing when you have just lost a loved one. I now send a copy along with a sympathy card to all of my close friends and family members who "Lose A Loved One." I've mailed two of these books (in the last five months) to friends of mine who lost a parent. I highly recommend it!

I have not read this book, but I read a poem from one of Helen Steiner's book at my father's funeral in 1998, it was about "My Dad" or a similar title, I thought it was in the book "Somebody Loves You" but it isn't can somebody help me find it please. Many thanks

After the death of our 16 yr old daughter we were given many books to read and groups to join for comfort. Out of 8 books that we read only this one "When you lose a loved one" by Charles Allen offered us comfort and peace. I have shared this book with the newly bereaved and the feedback is always "thank you, it really helped me". No book will ever take away the pain but this book gave me an inner peace that helped me to go forward as a christian. I have recommended this book to Compassionate Friends in our area in California and they have also had positive feedback. M.Burrin

This book brings much confort when you are looking for reasons for the many hurts present in today's world. The answer is "Jesus" but too many times we look for other answers when the only true one is our Lord. This book shows this in every page.

I am sending this book to a family who lost a daughter and a granddaughter on the United Plane that hit the World Trade Center.

I have really tried to find words to express my heart-felt hurt for this family but this book says it all.

For anyone who likes poetry, especially the poetry of Helen Steiner Rice, this book is a gem. The selections she chose for this book cover many topics, such as friendship, grieving, love, over- coming trials, faith, endurance, etc. It especially brought comfort to me after the passing of my dear mother-in-law who was one of my best friends. I also liked the fact that scriptural verses (from the King James version of the Bible) were intermingled with the poetry. When I am feeling a little blue, this book always helps to cheer me up.

This book is small, but it is filled with inspiring and encouraging poetry touching on the different aspects of a mother's love for God, her family, and the world around her. In my opinion, every mother should receive one from a child, grandchild, or a friend. It is a perfect gift, and so affordable ... it is a best buy!

This was great, you could have a scripture reading each day and a word of encouragement to go with the scripture..
It is a quick easy way for a quick faith builder when you need in in the midst of a very busy schedule... I was stressed and read 10 pages, and by the time I got to the tenth, my stress was gone. Remember God loves you and wants to protect you, So seek that small haven and be guided by prayer to that place of protection within God's loving care. Every word of God proves true, He defends all who come to him for protection. Prov 30:5, Today seek safety and secutiry in God's everlasting arms. Just one small example of one page or day...

At the break of day, nothing lifts the spirit better than a good cup of freshly brewed coffee and a positive word to set the stage. Daily we face trials, but with the inspiring words of Helen Steiner Rice, she brings forth words of encouragement to lift the spirit.

Each page contains a four line verse revealing her heart. The rest of the page is just yearning for you to capture your thoughts within this beautifully bound book.

For many, journaling is a way of healing. What better way to heal and grow than with one so positive in the choice of words by Helen Steiner Rice. I closed the page on one book and I am eager to continue on to book number two.

I received this book from a dear friend when my brother was dying of cancer. It's inspirational verses helped me through troubled times during a 2 year period. This book can bring comfort to a troubled heart. I highly recommend it for anyone going through a traumatic life experience.

i love this book their is a special poem for every reason

This in one of the first books that I've ever read by this famous writer. The poems are heartfelt and totally inspirational as Helen Steiner Rice shares her precious thoughts with us, and eases our burdens through her written word.
Mostly for those bent in acknowledging God's precious creation also the magic of love.....and also some poems suitable for kids. Her work is very simply written and it is so amazing that one woman who went through so much illness and misfortune could still look at life in such a positive manner. Readers you can't miss this. This book is worth your time.

This book covers everything; such as the history of the poinsetta, mistletoe, candy canes, etc. Also, eloquent Christmas poems and sayings, with heavy doses of Old World charm. It includes projects, Christmas Carols, prayers, etc. It truely depicts the 'true meanings of Christmas.' I am astounded that no one has written a review of this book. I have also become aware that it isn't a well known book. Surely, this book is destined to become a classic! For Children to adult.
