Horrible
This book, was undoubtly my worst investment. My friend and I read this book and it helped us only in the way of supercuting our time and our pocketbook. From an obviously poorly written book, comes content that is just hard to comprehende. Trust me, save your money, because this book is horrible.

SUPERCUT: NUTRITION FOR THE ULTIMATE PHYSIQUE
I PURCHASED THIS BOOK BECAUSE I WAS LOOKING FOR A COOKBOOK TO USE WHEN PREPARING MY MEALS. THIS BOOK GIVES YOU PLENTY OF INFORMATION ON HOW TO PREPARE MEALS FOR BODYBUILDERS. EACH RECIPE GIVES YOU A LISTING OF NUTRITIONAL INFORMATION AS WELL AS SIMPLE INSTRUCTIONS TO FOLLOW. IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO SPICE UP YOUR DIET BUT STILL WANT HEALTHY FOOD, I RECOMMEND THIS BOOK.

Complete and easy to use
I just purchased this book after searching for a cookbook appropriate to bodybuilders. The information included in the beginning chapters focus on training splits, sample exercises for every bodypart, and how nutrition impacts a bodybuilders' physique. Although there is some focus on weight-gain, most of it can be tailored to fit someone looking for strength and tone without bulk. The recipes that follow are simple yet tasty, and they don't use a lot of complicated ingredients, which is great for those on the run. A fitting addition to any fitness enthusiasts' collection.

Should have been VB.Net Programming with the Public Beta 2..
This book is not based on Visual Studio.Net Final Release!

I have read the book front to back including introduction page. I just realized that the book was based on beta 2 of Visual Studio.Net, too late for a refund. Anyway, I went on to read it and found out that the book was not very much organised as tons of '...we'll discuss this on chapter xx ... ' appear no less than 5 times in a single chapter (on some chapters). Mispelled words also are catching enough to say that this book was in a hurry to be printed.

If you're looking for a book that covers thorough details on window forms and web form control howtos, this wouldn't give you enough detail on those topics. Web Services is equally a mere introduction, with about two pages of discussion on UDDI as well as WSDL. Not much on ADO.Net and XML.

I should have borrowed this book instead and skim through it or should have bought it for 20 bucks less. Besides, it's already outdated. I hope the same authors would come up with a second edition that has richer detail...and send me a free copy.

WROX site shows this as out of print
I was planning on buying this book and noticed the out of print note on the Wrox site. Not exactly sure what out of print means.
Looks like other books based on the betas say out of print on the Wrox site.
If this book was released in August 2001 then it should have been based on the beta. They might plan on releasing an updated version.

Best book so far for VB.NET
I'd say this is the best Professional VB.NET book so far. I like the the ADO.NET part and VB control part of this book. Better than O'really ASP and VB book.

Lead to succeed-10 great traits of freat leaders
I just finished Lead to Succeed this a.m and I'm back at amazon to order 3 more for my key employees. This book had common sense ideas that can be related to any business in the growth mode. I'm not a big basketball fan, but I certainly am a fan of the wisdom of Mr. Pitino. The book was a wealth of knowledge and information, very entertaining and a book that I could not put down till I finished. Pass it on, it will encourage anyone to strive to become the best.

A Coach can't win by himself
Coach Pitino's latest book does a good job combining his ideas on leadership and his realities as a basketball coach. While his tenure in Boston was not as successful as he (or the loyal Celtics fans) wished it to be, his thoughts on coaching there are a good read (too bad this book was published before he decided to leave, I would like to know what his current thoughts are). Of course most of this book repeats much of the motivational talk of business gurus, but how much new material has been there every been in this field? I just felt good reading it and in the end that is really what matters (it has been a long time since any boss has inspired me). Good luck in Louisville, Coach.

Excellent Information, Very Motivational
This is an amazing book from cover to cover. I wouldn't know where to start giving compliments on it. I've read several books over the years on business, motivation, and leadership. This book is by far one of the top reads. I strongly recommend it to anyone looking to improve themselves as well as those around them.

Three Strikes and You're Out: A Promise to Kimber: The Chronicle of America's Toughest Anti-Crime Law

Awful book. Badly written, biased, waste of time/money.
If you are looking for an honest, intelligent account of the Three Strikes law, its origins, and its impacts, this is NOT the book to read.

The murder of Kimber Reynolds was a tragic, sad, horrendous event, and my heart goes out to Mike Reynolds. I can see how he would want to start a crusade to prevent such a tragedy from occurring again.

I am a policy analyst who has done a great deal of reearch on Three Strikes. There are various potential benefits of the Three Strikes law, but the impacts on the budget and the corrections system will probably be vast. These costs and effects are never discussed in this book. The details of the law are glossed over.

The book is a pathetic attempt to turn a sad story into heavy-handed propaganda for a controversial law and its proponents. It's like an overly long campaign leaflet, launching harsh attacks on the law's opponents and making the law's proponents out to be heroes.

Easily one of the worst books I have ever read. If there were any way to give it less than one star, I certainly would.

Bad/sad story on how you go from grief to horrendous policy
This book is an embarrassment. Badly written, badly conceived. A sad, incomplete, and partial account of the tragic slippage from personal grief to the collective tragedy of a policy that does nothing but aggravate the problem it is supposed to solve. Relies on emotion, not on argument. Pitiful.

Tough Love Through Strict Sentencing...
Until Mike became motivated by the loss of his daughter, California's prisons were a short stopover for violent criminals on their way to their next victim. Poor grammar aside, the book vividly portrays California's legislature being run by an immensely strong liberal cadre of men dedicated not to the public who elected them but to a political philosphy out of step with common sense and the one man who ran the assembly at that time, Willy Brown.

Not only was Kimber sensely sacrificed but also Polly Klaas. Polly was kidnapped from her home during a pajama party then raped and killed by a repeat felon just out of prison. This took place just as the initiative was being circulated for signatures. The event so moved the hearts and souls of the citizens of California that the politicians resisting the prison reform effort either got out of the way or joined the ranks of those supporting it.

The Three Strikes law has accomplished what it set out to do: Take dangerous repeat offenders off the street! Not only is crime down over 46% here in the state (2000 stats) but not one single prison has been built. In fact, prison population is down.

The only senseless thing is why did so many have to suffer and die and why did it take so long to bring about this common sense reform?

New Yorkers take note!

The unorthodox bible to building fat
Apparently the authors don't know the strength of the word bible. If this book is a bible, then I hope that I'll never find it in the drawer of a hotel bed-side table. Absurd information about nutrition. Someone should tell the people from Gold's to start from the beginning instead of writing books for their, already huge, friends. If you're a beginner, don't join the gold's religion; find another bible that's realist.

Concise but dated and often vague
The "Gold's Gym Nutrition Bible", while comprehensive in its approach to bodybuilding nutrition, is nonetheless vague and outdated. Most of the nutrition advice offered is basic, beginner-intermediate level, and very little scientific research is quoted to support its claims. A good point of departure for anyone seeking an introduction to bodybuilding nutrition, but not detailed enough to make a useful compliment to training and diet. Most of the information between the covers of GGNB can be found on the newly mandated food package nutrition labels -for FREE

great great book if ur beginner or bulking up
great great great book , if u want to increase and bulk up it is the the most powerful book u'll find on the market BUT ONLY if you are a bgginer like me or really want a huge gains with fair muscle and then going on a cut up cycle great for big arms protien intake to me (;:::

Pro-Style Bodybuilding

This book is outdated
The school of bodybuilding this book teaches is very outdated. Save your money! Don't buy this book. I was following the instructions in this book and I gained thirty pounds...in fat! That's right, it tells you to eat anything. You heard me, ANYTHING. In the old school way, the bodybuilder eats whatever he wants to gain mass and later on sheds off the fat through aerobic exercise. The problem with that is, during the rigorous aerobic training, much muscle mass is also lost with it. The new way of bodybuilding (which makes alot of sense) stresses to eat alot and eat LEAN while you train. It does offer some great exercises but nothing you can't get from other good weight training books.

Very motivational
Tom Platz is definitely ahead of everyone else in terms of intensity. I admire him for that. This book is very motivational but I feel that this book is more suited for competitive bodybuilders than beginners.

What about deployment?!
There are a zillion books about .NET. I was hoping this one would cover deployment as the title promises. DON'T BE FOOLED!
Where is the information about Strong Naming, about how to get things into the GAC, about the line item tools like sn.exe, gacutil.exe, resgen.exe, al.exe (come on!)
What about the classes in AssemblyInfo.vb ??

No wonder only two of the authors put their faces on it. POOR

why make a difficult subject even harder?
I was looking for a good book on enterprise development in preparation for my first "big" enterprise project, so I got this book in the hope that I would learn something worthwhile.
Having already been involved in the development of stand-alone applications over the years, I was comfortable with the basics.
My, was I disappointed! The authors obviously knew what they were doing, but how to make themselves understood by mere mortals like myself was their greatest problem. It did not
take me long to begin to wonder why I could easily follow Fransesco Balena's advanced writings, and I could not follow these authors'. Tried as I may I could not get past the
first two chapters or so, before I looked for some other things to do.
This is the second book by Matt Reynold's that I have bought (the other was Beginning E-commerce with VB, MTS and ASP), and I have been unhappy with both books. I don't think I
will be going near his books anytime in the future.
If you really want to learn something about enterprise development, I suggest you scour Microsoft's MSDN website, or look for a more responsible book. This website has tons of lists you could also check out. This one is a waste of precious time.

Generous at 3 stars
I found the language in this book very difficult to follow. The WEO code is good, but following the examples in the book is a challenge. It is obviuos the book was put together quickly and that it is aimed at expert developers, who probably don't need a book like this. The downloadable code does not track the book examples very well. Only the final example in each 2 to 3 chapter group is included, the intermediate examples aimed at getting you familiar with the material are not included and expletives on buttons in the download code is so unprofessional.

Suppliment advertisement
This book is nothing more than a suppliment advertisement.

Don't be fooled...bodybuilders only.
Please make sure that when you're buying this book, you're not under the misconception that this is by any means a nutritional book. I was looking for dietary hints from people who I thought would be most in tune with their bodily needs. Instead, I received a book full of 'feel the burn' and 'maintain discipline' lifting slogans and little useful information for anyone who is not preparing for a competition. If that's what you're looking for, this is a wonderful book for you. For useful insites into nutrition and lean muscle mass correlation to your daily diet look somewhere else.

I use it as my nutrition bible!
This book is the only book I've found that goes deep into the importance of nutrition in bodybuilding. I refer back to it time and time again and each time I learn something new! It's great for those who just want to shed a little body fat for summer and for those who want to "cut-up" for competition. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in learning more about diet, exercise and strength training!

Client-Centered Consulting: Getting Your Expertise Used When You're Not in Charge

Unfulfilling
The authors have taken a pick and mix approach to a variety of theories and have come up with a half baked product. If you want counselling theory look up some Rogers; for organisational models try some Weber; for Transactional Analysis refer to Berne or Harris; the list could go on. In this work you will get selections from a number of sources but some key points are overlooked, mis-interpreted or badly applied. Without presenting evidence to support the basis for this editing of other (better) material Client Centered Consulting does not hold water.

The Greyhound (Top Dog Series)
Published in Library Binding by Crestwood House (1989)
Authors: William Reynolds Sanford, Carl R. Green, and Bill Sanford
Amazon base price: $12.95
Used price: $2.51
Average review score:

Ugh!! One wonders if the authors ever saw a Greyhound!
This book is poorly written, inaccurate and misleading. I am not talking about the occasional, minor inaccuracy, but incessant and blatant fallacies page after page after page. At one point, the authors suggest that one might buy a GH puppy, train it and then take it to the track and race it! The reality is that dogs are raced by large kennels that have contractual agreements with tracks to operate there. Unlike in some foreign countries, individual Americans cannot operate a single dog or handful of dogs. No distinction is made between the AKC Greyhound (a show dog) and the NGA GH (the racer). The authors stated that GHs are usually a solid color. Yet if one merely looks at the photos of the dogs in the book, it would be easy to see that most dogs are a combination of colors, often brindled. At one point, the authors say that Salukis are the swiftest of the sighthounds -- if that were true, then there would be Saluki racing instead of GH racing. I have personally seen GHs and Salukis run side-by-side at lure coursing practice and there is no comparison. This is an awful book that seems to have been written entirely on rumor, heresay and supposition. Don't buy it. If you did buy it, burn it.
