Good, but could have been much better. . .
The only reason I didn't give this book a top rating is because the author, Bill Reynolds, for some unknown reason, excluded
BMW and Mercedes automobiles from his book. And, I can not imagine why??? What a shame! The book could have been a 10 if he'd only shown a few BMW and MB highlights!

beautiful,beautiful,beatiful
wow..this is 288 pages of wow. The best thing is the photography...it is absolutely beautiful...there is a car a page, and some great cars..thehe book is divided into..

Post war cars1945-1955 Turning up the wick 1956-1962 Mid Engines and more 1963-1973 Heads down for the fuel crisis 1974-1983 Resurgence 1983 onwards and goes from 1950 Ferrari 166 MM Barchetta to the 1996 Jaguar XK8.. this book is great for a husband and great for the car loving kid..so what are u waiting for???

Great Book for Sports Car Enthusiasts
Bill Reynolds' photography is stunning in this book. A variety of high performance cars is reviewed in relation to the time period they were produced, starting in 1945 and ending in 1996. Brief, yet detailed, descriptions cover many topics including a range from technical specifications to notable style designs on each car.

If you enjoy viewing beautiful cars or want to know what the engines can do, you should enjoy this book.

Another interesting point to the book is the comparison between the European market and the United States market for sports cars.

I highly recommend this book for your personal collection or as a gift.

Good Exercise Descriptions
This book has good detailed descriptions on every exercises and also has info on reps, restance training and how to recover from a workout. The exercise routines are a little out-dated.

This book gives you the "language" of the gym
I liked reading this book but I don't know exactly how scientific some of the terms are; like when he calls people who jerk the weights around for high reps "pumpers." I usually refer to them as time wasters because they are injuries waiting to happen. The book does present you with modern training methods, but if I have to recommend one book.....Steve Reeves' new book "Building the Classic Physique" is still the best.

The term "encyclopedia" is deserved
For those who want to learn an extensive set of exercises for each muscle group, this is the book. It illustrates every exercise it refers to and indicates the muscles affected. Moreover, the descriptions and illustrations are almost always on the same page for easy reference. Very useful for learning your set of routines and as a reminder before a training session.

A goody.
I found this book very enjoyable and it moved well, its not slow on the get go, I also liked the ending, very different from his other books, which usually end with the guy getting the girl in the end, this time they.... enuf said (: And I liked the mention of a New Zealander, Cheers Bova...:

An enjoyable novel describing a very possible future...
This was a book I just happened to look at because it had a cool cover and decent premise, so I decided to give it a shot. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised by how entertaining and how fast-paced it was - the kind of book you can read in one sitting. In addition, the book has a good, surprising ending - I don't want to spoil it for you. Peackeepers is the kind of book that should be made into a movie - although maybe they should wait a while because, on the surface, the plot seems similar to the movie The Peacemaker with George Clooney and Nicole Kidman (although the Peacekeepers is a much better story, trust me). Either way, even though this isn't Bova' most popular book, it's worth checking out.

Great book for all levels of weight trainers!
I have been weight training on and off, for the last 12 years and have come across many books on the subject but this is one of my favourites. This book by Samir presents a good source of information and working-out routines on body-building for all; from the beginner to the advanced body-builder. I expecially like its simple layout and a good range of illustrated exercises.

Best Book on Weights Training
This is one of the best books on weights training/ muscle building. Samir explains everything from muscle tissue, routines, diet to exercises. If followed the results can be truly rewarding. Five stars all the way. Its a pity that this book is not easily available in the book stores.

Disappointment
This book wasn't at all what I have expected. Since I am student and I have a full-time job I thought that this book would be helpful to me. The description and the reviews were over rated and deceiving. Ok so the book might have a lot of recipes but they is nothing new (anyone can fry eggs)it made me feel stuped since I now how to cook almost every thing in this book and what's worst they are poorly written and not illustrated... the paper is a very cheap quality and the writing is too small... The book is no help to me what so ever and I am sure that it will just collect dust on my book shelves...

Great Book for Beginners on a Budget
I first encountered "The Starving Student's Cookbook" the year it was released. Although I was a fairly accomplished cook, I was dealing with an extremely limited budget and a friend gave me the book thinking it might help me to cope. I found it immensely entertaining and, although it was geared to beginners and thus far below my skill level, it had tips that even I could use. If you are new to cooking, on a budget, or know some young (or not so young) person who needs help learning to feed themselves nutritiously and inexpensively, this book is a great place to start. It will teach you the basics with clear, gently humourous instructions.

A Great Cookbook
I bought this cookbook for the staff to use at my disabled son's home. They need to cook for one and it is hard to find decent cookbooks. The staff rave about this cookbook. It is great! Easy to read, simple ingrediants and they love the picture of the which pot or pan to use.

Breathlessly Tells The Forgotten Dream Of 30 Summers Ago
Bill Reynolds captures the emotion that held the Boston Red Sox together that summer. From that first win on a cold April day to Tony C.'s tragic beaning, the Sox stuck like glue. In the process they created a legend that echoes in the mind of all New England sports fans. Only once in a century could a story like this unfold and only once in a century could a man retell the story with Bill Reynold's passion.

Willy Woodchuck by Bill Reynolds
Old Newt, a large man who lives in a cabin in the woods, likes to tell stories to his visitors. One such story is the story of Willy Woodchuck, who wants to do something that woodchucks don't instinctively do: climb trees. Discouraged by his mother and most of the woods' creatures that he meets during his odyssey, Willy nonetheless is determined to accomplish his dream for he wishes to see the New World that Squirrel sees every time he scampers up a tree. Only the Little Ladybug offers affirmation: "Mister Woodchuck is determined to climb a tree and there is nothing wrong with determination." The others, including his mother, think that he is "foolhardy." Ultimately, with the help of the firemen's ladder, Willy is able to climb his "perfect tree" and see the New World. But reaching this goal is not what the didactic story is really about, for Bill Reynolds has written a refreshingly simple and charming story about the value of friendship and the importance of community. In addition to increasing their vocabulary, children reading the story will learn, as did Willy, that "sometimes you need help doing what you want to do" and "...before you can have friends, you must be a friend" and finally, "A friend is a good thing to be." Delightful illustrations by Gaynor Reynolds Darabi enchance the optimistic story. Willy Woodchuck is a fun story for parents to read to their children and for older children (7-9) to read themselves.

This book is OK for people who already understand the basics
This book contains all of Weider's best principles. If you want to know some new things that can make your workout interesting. When you design your own workouts, don't use the ones the pros use until you have put on some lean muscle on a less strenuous program.

Bodybuilding Knowledge galore!
I personally thought this book was a real winner. I have read this book many times cover to cover, yes this takes a while. I use it for reference all the time. It spells out exactly what and how to do all exercises. It also contains great photography of the stars in action. This also contains much information, many pages, great pictures, and pure content for the price. The only other book that is comparable is Arnold's Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding.

Just Get The Book!
As an ACE-Certified Personal Trainer and Nutrition Specialist, I have to give this book a high recommendation. The beginner will get a good introduction to physique development. The more experienced will get ideas for adding variety to their programs. The photos are a bit misleading for the beginner - you'll never look like that unless you use drugs. However, all the technical information is good, and I like the presentation. This book is a real bargain!

not enough examples to be called a beginner book
This book had a lack of examples.
Poor presentation.
The little snippets of code it used to navigate through
the book were very dificult to grasp since there are no
example to demonstrate that they work.
I have been thru just under a dozen .net books. This is
one of the worst alongside ithe vb.net unleashed book.
It was very easy to give up reading this book since you always
wonder if the code you type is ever going to work or
is that the reason why some of the the code was not downloadable

Some good, some bad
Since this book has 3 authors, it would be interesting to know who wrote what parts. Some parts are very good, with understandable examples and clear explanations. Other parts I just scratched my head and wondered.

It's not that I didn't understand what they were doing, it's that I wondered why they were doing it. It seems they went out of their way to make parts of the code complex and confusing.

The main program developed in the book, the Product Management System, took 4 chapters. It could have been a great example of a simple program that taught the main points of database programming.

However, parts of the code was poorly designed and written, resulting in the program being overly complex and not functioning like a professional program should.

I feel that if you are teaching someone, you should show them the right way to do it. As a beginner in VB I am looking at the whole picture. Just because this book is about database programming, the authors should not ignore the quality of the rest of the language in their example code. Is it too much to ask the professional programmers who write books to write professional quality programs?

I currently don't have a better book to recommend. I've started reading another book I got from the library, but I don't have an opinion yet. To bad the library doesn't have more books on VB so I could try before I buy.

A very good introduction on VB .Net databases
For people with some experienced on VB .Net, this book will serve as a very good introduction on the basic skills on database programming. Not only have the authors done a good job on showing how to use ADO .Net, but they have also done a very nice job of showing how to apply the skills of objected-oriented programming techinques. Base forms are developed and then inherited to develop more sophisticated windows forms.I strongly think that this book is worth reading.
