This book is a joy to read.
John Randolph Price takes possibility thinking to the max in Living a Life of Joy--a book that is truly a joy to read. Price writes that "Disease, suffering, turmoil, discord, failure, and poverty are the result of restricting the flow of spiritual energy...." This brilliant author inspires the reader to "turn away from sadness and sorrow, from lack and limitation, from conflict and chaos." Also helpful are the practical techniques that Price offers for aligning with the Master Mind.

Living a Life of Joy makes a thoughtful gift for anyone for any occasion, but this book is especially helpful for friends and family who need to be cheered and infused with hope for "Living a Life of Joy".

Three Really Great Short Stories
This set contains two now out of print audio books: "Four Card Draw" and "The Turkey Feather Riders." All three are well done with a great cast of characters and special effects. The audio is crisp and clear, easily heard in an automobile's noisy environment.

Four Card Draw. Louis L'Amour starts this audio volume with a short discourse on period books about the old west. "Four Card Draw" is told first person by Allen Ring, a gambler who wins the Red Rock Ranch in Arizona. He is told the ranch is haunted by someone who was murdered there. That someone was one of the three Haslet brothers, owners of a neighboring ranch, who are out for revenge. Allen walks right into the middle of a frying pan and ends up fighting for his life!

Riding For The Brand. Jed Asberry wins a poker game only to find himself robbed by the angry losers. They dump him in the desert with no clothes, left to die. Days later, on his last legs, he stumbles across three recently killed people (two men and a woman)... in the middle of the desert. Taking clothes, guns, and papers from one of the men, Jed becomes Micheal Latch. Micheal was on his way to inherit a ranch, so Jed decides to assume this role. He finds himself up to his neck in serious shooting trouble as someone else is willing to murder to get the property!

The Turkey Feather Riders. Louis L'Amour starts this story by giving a short discourse on cowboys and the cattle business as it was in the 1860's through 1880's (and now). Jim Sandefer is the forman for a New Mexico ranch. His boss, Grey Bowen, makes a sudden visit (after years of being away) with his daughter, Elaine, and some new guests: Rose and Lee Martin. Grey wants to marry Rose, but Jim discovers that she and her son are up to something that doesn't smell right! Then the shooting begins!

Well worth the purchase price. Run Time: 180 minutes.

Wonderful follow up book to "Superbeings!"
I read John's "Superbeings" many, many years ago and it effected me like no other book I have ever read in my life. I have read numerous books since on spirituality and while they all "sparked" something in me, none have touched me the way superbeings did. Superbeings motivated me to change my life and follow my dreams! It inspired me to write my own book on self improvement which is titled The Turning Point by Crystal Rose. Thank you John for sharing your wonderful work with us!!!

A convincing argument
Having made up my mind in advance to approach Braham's book with outright scepticism I put it down after reading with a newfound perspective on this troubling issue. The arguments contained within are surprisingly convincing and well-constructed. The book effectively demonstrated to me that many generally-held beliefs about Vatican policy during WWII are based on little more than second-hand and often erroneous information. Difficult to put down, this book is good reading for anyone with an interest in history and politics (whatever your spiritual persuasion).

Story of Two Couples Whose Friendship Spans Decades
I bought this book with great expectation having read the glowing reviews here at amazon. The premise of the story sounded intriguing---two 'ordinary' couples meet and form a friendship that lasts a lifetime. Alas, real life is often dull and this book redefines dull. The promise of youth and the sadness of aging no matter how gracefully, the love that endures sickness and health, the value of true friendship are all examined and with introspective honesty. However, what isn't in the book, the great moments glossed over or ignored, left this reader wondering how Wallace Stegner got to be so renowned.

On a more positive note, if you can endure the first 3/4 of the book, the last 1/4 will be uplifting. The reader will finally get some insight into Charity and Syd's dysfunctional marriage, Larry's unquestioning love for the invalid Sally, and the universality of Stegner's premise that one of us doesn't differ that much from another, each generation repeating its parents so that everything returns upon itself, repeating and renewing until the present can hardly be told from past.

Stegner writes a convincing enough narrative about the grace of surviving life, but as for me, the next time I want a story about nothing, I will tune in to a Seinfeld rerun.

Crossing to Stegner
I had not read Stegner before. I will be reading him again! I found the start slow at first and in fact had to pick it up several times. Once I persevered, here's what I found: A beautiful and well written book. What I found was a well made novel--both in narrative structure and figurative language. There were no strained metaphors (so common in most modern fiction) and no lack of insight. I found a story of friends, more than that the most rare of friends; two married couples. I say that couples this close are rare for the very same reason that the Morgans and the Langs eventually fall out of close contact. The people we choose to love, to "fuse" our lives together with are ours because no one else would choose them. As much as Sid could not live without Charity, Larry would never choose to live with her. As a result it becomes difficult for Larry and Sally to watch the various strains of Sid and Charity's relationship. And while it may not strain the couple's friendhsip per se, it stretches it a bit. This story does not fall into the predictable. It moves you to tears and laughter and jealousy. How wonderful to have found besides spouses that you love even in the tough times, friends who are more than willing to help see you through the tough times. Don't be put off by the fact that it moves slowly at first, don't be put off by the lack of glamor, drugs and violence. Hopefully, glamor, drugs and violence are not commonplace events in any of your lives. Read instead this book that talks of quiet lives that recognize the need for both sorrowful and "sunny hours" in order to make them beautiful.

Now I would like to read more Wallace Stegner!
A wonderful reading experience, especially since this is the first Wallace Stegner book I have read. I am now driven to read "Angle of Repose" and "The Sound of Mountain Water", and perhaps other works of his in the future. The prose is beautiful in its fluidity and richness of details, save maybe for Stegner's skewed characterization of Charity over Sally. Personally, I would not like to meet a character like Charity, and I do not understand how a reasonably strong character like Sid would put up with her, unless, of course, he is attracted to exceedingly cosmopolitan and worldly---not to mention annoyingly feisty and obsessive-compulsive---types like Charity. The last part was a little slow, and I was somehow expecting that Larry would find Sid in that "edenic pool" that seemed like their (the two couples') best-kept secret from their long-ago hike in the woods. I would think that that might be an appropriate symbol of Sid's reconnecting with his persona without Charity's incessant controlling and smothering manipulation---that it was never too late to find himself and feel free again. I know it sounds selfish, but , inasmuch as their friendships seemed so perfect and ideal, Charity's dominant personality and self-righteousness spelled like a potential omen to their entire relationship. Moderation and the tenets of civility ruled over the book, however, and I was nonetheless captivated by it.

Another Powerful Parable
If the authors are right about how they defined 'empowerment' and the three essential keys for achieving true empowerment, then leaders, managers, and employees of all organizations should read, discuss, and decide to apply this easy-to-read book's lessons. I am convinced this book has the potential to lead organizations to unheard of levels of effectiveness and productivity.

In typical Ken Blanchard fashion, the authors taught their important lessons through a logical and believable fictional story based on their years of research and experience. The story "guides readers step-by-step through one manager's struggle to discover the three essential keys to empowerment. By following the manager's odyssey to the Land of Empowerment, readers discover that they can take the same journey, which, like any heroic journey, is filled with paradox, challenge, and fitful stops and starts."

The authors defined empowerment as not giving power to people, but releasing the knowledge, experience, and motivation they already have. They then identified and explained the three essential keys for achieving true empowerment:
1.Share information with everyone
2.Create autonomy through boundaries
3.Replace hierarchical thinking with self-managed teams
These simple definitions are deceptively powerful when teamed with patience and persistence. I found the title of this book was most appropriate.

From my experience, the term 'empowerment' is frequently spoken, largely misunderstood, and rarely applied to its maximum extent. This book took the mystery out of the concept of empowerment and left me with a great appreciation for what true empowerment is and how it can be achieved. I am excited about what it could release in me and others who read it.

Highly Recommended!
The author of The One Minute Manager switches gears and tells you not to manage your employees minute-by-minute. Instead, Ken Blanchard, along with John P. Carlos, and Alan Randolph, advocates and explains the notion of empowerment - giving your employees the information and authority to act and make decisions on their own, within a structured set of organizational goals and values. Presented as the story of a turnaround manager getting tutored by an empowerment mentor, the book establishes the fundamentals of the (now ubiquitous) theory of empowerment in a conversational and enjoyable style. We [...] recommend this quick, informative read, which will expand your management horizons in only a few short minutes.

Easy to read and put into practice.
If you are a new manager or a manager with outdated skills, this novel little book will have an absolutely positive impact if you follow the simple three keys to success. The book is based on a story of a real or contrived (who knows) manager and his adventure in discovering the importance of empowerment and why his technics have failed with his employees. Within the first week of reading this book, I used one of the exercises that was recommended. This simple exercise showed me that my employees are infact on track to becoming empowered. If your employees are struggling to complete everyday work because of a motivational problem instead of an ability problem, this book will show you how to get your team to respond. After you read this book, you may discover that the problem is supervisory and not employee related. However, this read gave me ideas of how to correct both!

New Age or Christian???
Definitely new age theology in this book. I don't know how the author could mix new age theology and Christianity together - they are so different. The Bible says there is one God who created 'human' beings, not little demi-gods. New Age theology says "you are Gods". Christianity and new age can never agree because they are diametrically opposed, anyone who says otherwise obviously does not know the Bible.

The Jesus Code is a Sacred Gift to the World
If you never read another book, read The Jesus Code. John Randolph Price, one of the world's greatest spiritual teachers, writes with authenticity from his intimate relationship with the Higher Power. The Jesus Code offers simple, yet profound solutions to all of our earthly challenges. Price convincingly assures us that we are complete and empowered to enjoy peace and happiness as we recognize the Divine Presence within ourselves and others and as we emulate Jesus as a model for our spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical wholeness. The meditations written for this book are truly transformational! The Jesus Code will remain on my nightstand, because I plan to re-read it many times.

The Abundance Book

Excellent. Insightful.
If you are (a) really stuck financially, and (b) open to new insights, particularly about the relationship between Spirit and Supply, this book is for you. Another reviewer noted, "Don't be fooled by its small size." Indeed...At the book's core is the 40 Day Abundance Plan. The Plan works. However, it requires discipline -- which, unfortunately, many lack. The is not about some imaginary Free Lunch in the Sky. This is about developing Abundance in one's life by developing spiritually. It must be followed fully with attention to detail, with care...One of the side benefits of following the Plan is an increase in abundance of joy. Spend the money (modest). Buy the book. Follow the Plan. Blessings.

Learn what the real source of abundance is!
All true abundance comes from God, and John Randolph Price shares his wisdom and knowledge he has received from spirit on this very important topic. Learn to manifest monetary supply through spiritual principles, and bring yourself the abundance you truly deserve while on the earthplane. This book includes a 40 day plan for prosperity, consisting of meditations designed to connect your conscious mind with spirit, the true source of your abundance. A must-have for anyone on a spiritual path who would like to generate more material supply.

The first time I worked with this book, I definitely had an increase in income, but I was still learning how to truly accept the concepts presented in this book, since it was all new to me. I put the book away for a couple of years, and got it out again recently. This time, I have been amazed by the results- I immediately had abundance manifest into my life in the form of clients, abundance, and unexpected gifts. I am very grateful that I am going through the 40-Day Prosperity Plan again, because it is working great! Highly recommended.

One of the Best Tools for Revising Your Beliefs About Money
Have you ever felt like you wouldn't have so many money issues if only you could get out of your own way? More precisely, have you noticed that possibly it's your core beliefs about money that set you up for feeling the presence or absence of it in your life? If so, you're fully primed for THE ABUNDANCE BOOK.

This book is perfect for anyone who is willing to consider the possibility that God (or divine spirit) exists fully and completely within each and every one of us, and that there is an innate energy of total prosperity implicit in this fact. In other words, we are divine beings who deserve to live prosperous, creative, inspired lives! If you can accept this premise into your core beliefs, and devote 15 minutes of each day for 40 days to writing down one of ten daily affirmations, you will have completed the John Randolph Price's Prosperity Plan.

This purse-sized book will give you everything you need to help you find the flow of money in your life, provided (1) you are willing to accept the basic premise that divine spirit is the source of money and resides within you, and (2) you are disciplined enough to spend 15 minutes each day meditating on the daily affirmations.

What I love most about working with this book and it's 40 day prosperity plan is that I noticed beliefs changing inside me that I didn't even know I had, until I started this program! I love the way this book stays so positively focused on the desired outcome that it blows away any inner critic or negativity. It's awesome!

Values of the Game extend life beyond the hardwood.
VALUES OF THE GAME

There is complete silence in Madison Square Garden; suddenly "swish" Bradley leads the Knicks to another victory and the crowd is in complete pandemonium. Bill Bradley is no longer portrayed simply as a basketball player and a US Senator, he is now seen as a prolific writer. In his most recent book, Values of the Game, Bradley returns to the scene of his first career and is first great passion, basketball. Values of the Game is a wonderfully written book that is filled with some of Bradley's most intense personal reflections. Bradley revisits the basketball court with the fire of a competitor but, with the mind of a writer. Of course things have changed since Bradley's playing days, the shorts are longer and the salaries are higher but, what separates the winners form the losers remains very much the same. No collection of players no matter how good, can win unless a team is formed. No team can succeed unless they share certain values. Among these values that are displayed throughout the book are courage, resilience, discipline, respect and the most notable the pure love for the game. Bradley also discusses other qualities of the game such as the individual courage to risk the last-second shot, to face a hostile crowd, to say "I blew it." The responsibility to teammates, coaches and the fans in honoring the game. Values of the Games is also illustrated with dramatic photographs of players, coaches and archetypal games. Pictures range from legends such as Bill Russell, Oscar Robertson, and Bob Cousy; through the brilliant Magic Johnson and Larry Bird years and the greatest player ever, Michael Jordan. Even if you are not a NBA or college basketball fan the book has references associated with other aspects of life. It is filled with life long lessons that doesn't necessarily deal with professional athletes but, things that mundane people can identify with. The quote "Fame, you learn, is like a rainstorm-it come-on fast and then goes just as quickly, often leaving behind a certain amount of destruction" refers to how one should have the right perspective on themselves. One must realize that in life sometimes you will be the hero but, other times you will be the scapegoat. Bradley lets the reader in on basketball's secrets, which turns out, extend to life beyond the hardwood court.

Joe Reed

Values of the Game
I think this book is very good for people or children who like to play basketball. The book is written by Bill Bradley, who is one of the most famous players and is forwarded by Phil Jackson, who is one of the best choaches in the NBA today. The book does not only cover the surface of the game of basketball; the book also breaks down into few critical attitudes toward the game of basketball. The book starts by letting the readers know how passion is required in a player in order to play a good game of basketball. Then bhe book covers discipline, selflessness, respect, perspective, courage, leadership, responsibility, resilience, and imagination, which are all very important factors and attitudes that a player requires. Another good thing about this book is that, in each one of th ecritical attitudes that the book covers, it provides the readers a few well-known NBA players as examples, both current players and legends. And the author also puts in his own experience, so that the readers can understand deep down the meaning of the point the book points out. Overall, I think the book is very good for people who really likes to play basketball. It tells the reader that the game of basketball is not only scoring, there're a few very important factors which affect whom or which team gets the victory.

Bradley's book reminds us how we can all be champions
In this inspiring book, Bradley demonstrates the values that have helped shape him as a person, and enabled him to achieve excellence. The book is a colorful and creative collection of eye-catching basketball photos interlaced with chapters on values of the game.

In describing ideals that have helped him and other champions to succeed both on and off the court, he encourages us all to pursue excellence in our own lives- whatever our life circumstances may be.

He names ten core values that he has found meaningful in his development as a player and a person. They are: passion, discipline, selflessness, respect, perspective, courage, leadership, responsibility, resilience and imagination.

Bill Bradley has demonstrated here that he is truly a man of the people. He wants to encourage every American to celebrate the gifts, abilities and values that give them meaning and hope in their lives.

I highly recommend this book to everyone with the courage to reach beyond their grasp and strive for excellence in their lives. The pictures and stories are great, and the essays are even better. Pick it up today, and also, be sure to make your vote count in November- your opinion matters and deserves to be heard!
