Romantic and Touching Story
Jessie's Wedding is a suspencful romance that keeps the reader guessing, and wishing until the end. Jessie O'Brien had known Jarrett Collins since they were cildren at her aunt's wedding. They dated throughtout their adolescence and early twenties, until Jarrett left her.

Now Jessie, older and wiser, has overcome the pain of Jarrett leaving and gotten her life on track and in the right direction. Until one day, Jarrett shows up as the new doctor at the hospital she works at. Now seeing him again, Jessie remembers her past and how their life together was. Although she knows better than to let herself fall for Jarrett and open up to him, she soon finds herself doing so. The fear of being hurt once again by him worries her along with the mysteries of his life while he was away from Wisconsin. Jessie lets herself fall in his trap of secret, but can she overcome their past as well as his past and let them start their life togteher again, or will these secrets and memories ruin their chances of being together once more?

Kathryn quick writes a truely touching romance. The romance between Jessie and Jarrett brings hope to any relationship and allows the reader to feel the emotions in Jessie's heart as she lets Jarrett back into her life. I recomend this novel to any romance lover looking from an enjoyable page-turner. The story held you until the very end and kept you wanting more. An excellent novel!

Super Recipes
Barbara Goodfellow was the wife of a Navy Admiral who found she was often in the kitchen cooking while the guests were gathered in the living room and den and she was missing the opportunity to visit her guests. She put together the recipes in this book that could be prepared ahead of time, often even the previous day, and then cooked in an oven without further attention. Many are of casserole type; however, they do not taste like casseroles. I have been using the recipes for over 25 years and have nearly always been asked for the recipe. Half of all proceeds devolving to Mrs. Goodfellow were donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Bon Appetit!

Best Bread Book for Beginners
I read this book and I think it is a very good book. It gives wonderful hints on how to make the different breads...how to store them....substitute suggestions, etc.

I especially loved this book because of all the different varieties it offers and at the same time offering simplicity.

This book is a must for SERIOUS bakers. (That is why I'm looking for my own copy!)

The Quick
The Quick reminds me of an apple: dense, tasty, with an aftertaste that lingers, and whose energy persists long after it's eaten.

The Fairy Godmother is Real
I glanced at the table of contents. Why women need female mentors...What is a mentor anyway?...How do you find a mentor?...Love you hate you-healing the mother daughter bond. I turned to that chapter and found in the pages new definitions, interpretations and possibilities for working on my difficult relationship with my adult daughter. The ideas were refreshing, sometimes afirming, and challenging. Recognizing the difference between mothering and mentoring was full of possibilities for healing. The book shares many of the interviews with people in mentoring relationships and sites some studies in psychology and anthropology to support the ideas. How can we turn the imaginary fairy godmother into a real person who can give incouragement, guidance and help us to be free to be our full selves. How to find a mentor or how to be one are exciting ideas that are possible with the tools and information in this easy to read, fast paced book.

GREAT IN TECHNIQUE; POOR IN INTERIOR DESIGN
This book has some excellent, easy-to-follow instructions, which in itself is a major plus. Walls, floors, you name it, there is something here to please almost everyone and the instructions are clear, precise and straight forward. The numerous photographs are also a great plus.

On the downside, however, the reader will find Debbie's talents lie with the actual techniques and not with colour schemes and interior design. Personally, I find many of rooms to be overly trendy, garishly co-ordinated and rather a mismash of "whatever fits, use it." Thoughtful and thorough advanced planning did not seem to be a component of the finished project. The techniques for walls and floors were creative; as for the furniture, there was little to be found here that impressed me.

The book is worth having for the wall and floor finishes and the techniques used, although I must admit I am still a strong advocate for oil-based materials as opposed to water based. The durability and relatively easy maintenance of oil-based materials cannot be surpassed. The extra cost of an oil-based product is money well spent in the long run. There are some great concepts presented here, and some not so great, depending on whether the reader is buying the book strictly for wall and floor techniques or the total finished concept of design and colour.

Very good book for a "non-handy" person like me, and...
...guess what? I repainted my entire house myself using her techniques and suggestions, something I NEVER would have thought of doing had I not stumbled upon Ms. Travis' book. The how-to information is laid out in a very easy-to-digest format, complete with sequential photos. She also provides a number of "themed" rooms and color schemes, but I didn't have to follow any of those decorating themes when I painted my own home. And since my faux finish and textured house painting has been so well received, it's a testimony to the book's ability to teach the techniques and then let the reader adapt them to his/her particular tastes and colors. Another nice thing is that the book's down-to-earth approach leaves the reader with a "Yeah, I think I can do this!" level of confidence.

BEAUTIFUL BOOK EVERY NOVICE DECORATOR SHOULD OWN
Tired of white walls, I purchased (and returned) several books in an effort to learn how to make my new home look like those photographed in magazines. In particular, I was looking for an easy procedure for the Ragging Off finish. Debbie Travis' book provides that and more. Each finish for walls, furniture and floors includes a brief description, a list of paint and tools, easy instructions with photographs and several variations of the featured theme. Equally important, her TIP sidebars helped me avoid costly and time consuming mistakes. The most creative chapter, Patterns, includes Squeegee Stripes, Combing, Terra-Cotta Tiles and Stone Blocking. Another favorite is the Carrara Marble effect in the Stone Finishes chapter. This book has something for everyone regardless of style preference, experience or ability. It's an absolute must for novices and professionals alike!

Classic American Food Without Fuss: Our Favorite Recipes Made Easy

Favorites Made Easy and Simply
Very minimalist describes the approach to this collection of favorites. From Boston Baked Beans to Coq Au Vin, this has the recipes we all enjoy.

Receiving this one free is likely the only way I would have this in my collection. I have others that I turn to for more inspiration on American cooking, such as Sheila Lukens "USA Cooking" which is exceptional, or James Beard's "American Cooking."

This is not worthless or poorly done, it is just too bland for my tastes, such as a simple Meat Loaf with the ketschup smeared on the top. Many will gravitate to this food, so to each his own meatloaf.

An Excellent Cookbook For Non-Cooks
Speaking as some one who has very few kitchen skills, I find McCullough and Witt's CLASSIC AMERICAN FOOD WITHOUT FUSS an indispensable work, for it offers more than one hundred receipes of foods I always liked but never actually knew how to make--and it offers them in concise, easy to follow, and surprisingly witty prose.

The sections include starters, soups, salads, main dishes, side dishes, breads, and desserts. In addition to such homey items as deviled eggs, chicken soup, pot roast, and macaroni and cheese, McCullough and Witt also include a surprising number of complex ethnic dishes such as moussaka and duck a l'orange, taking care to reduce their more complicated dishes to an essential level that even non-cooks will find unintimidating. The text is also sprinkled with side-bars on everything from roasting garlic to macaroons, and the various receipes invite experimentation.

Truly advanced cooks will no doubt find this particular cookbook basic, but for some one less interested in spending all day in the kitchen than in simply turning out an enjoyable upper-middle-class dinner for four it is a remarkably useful collection, easy to read and easy to use. It is also quite a bit of fun. Recommended.

No American cook should be without this book
If you're pondering again about what to fix for dinner look no further than this cookbook. It is complete unto itself. You no longer have to sift through the pages of over-built cookbooks that are so heavy one could use them for a doorstop. This is a mere 277 pages but it laden with delicious recipes. From carbonara to rice pudding. Everything I have fixed from this book is both pleasing to the eye as well as to the palate. You can quiet even the most finicky eater with this tome. Nicely laid out and easy to read and understand. The classic, that is to say, original recipe for coq a vin is included. Delicious!!! This book easily lays open on your counter or workspace. Don't be afraid to break the binding. It won't matter becase you will be using this book over and over again anyway. It covers the world. Pasta, fish, lamb, desserts, breads. If it is a comfort food brought over by many of the immigrants, it will most likely be here. Greek; mousaka. Italian; lasagne. French; steak au poivre. Jewish; potato pancakes. English; corn pudding. Too many crowd pleasers to name but absolutely one to have in your home.
