V FOR VICTORY FALLS TO GRIM DEFEAT
This book is remarkably full of errors. Multiple prices for the same item are listed in different locations. Items are completely mislabelled with regard to what they are made of or what they are. When comparing prices in this guide with his other homefront guide the prices for many items are completely different reflecting this authors failure to be consistent and to proofread his work. Were it not for the pics sent by the collectors, this book would have zero utility. The pics are good thanks to his contributors but the rest of the guide for accuracy and integrity is sorely lacking. Give it a one star because of the pics. I'd pass on this sloppy work...

A Wonderful New Volume Highlighting "V" For Victory Items
This is a brand new 2001 volume featuring a wide array of collectibles with the "V" for victory from the 1940's. Many photos are large, sharp, and in full color. Most are super black and white photos. There's a nice introduction. Major topics range from Pearl Harbor, Banks, Music, V-Mail, Postcards to Linens, Stamps, Bonds, Banners, and Victory Gardens,Toys, Ads, posters, and much more. Adequate text is provided. This is a very timely book, with patriotism at an all time high. It's of interest to every American, no matter their year of birth. Add it to your library.

Hard to understand
The 12 page introduction gives a good historical background overview. Brief, but good biographies of the authors are given. A center section has photos of paintings, sculptures and architecture of the time.

This Anthology has writings by English authors. Although the writings are annotated, I found it impossible to read many of them. They were supposedly witty and full of biting satire, but I missed the point. This book is probably meant to be a text for a post graduate level course in English Literature. It is probably not for browsers like me with degrees in life science. I was interested in the differences between the English and French writers of the period. It would be difficult to find writings by many of the fairly obscure English authors included in this book.

THIS IS AN ERROR REPORT!
NOTE: I am NOT writing a review ... I just want to inform you that you have the incorrect backcover summary for this title.

You have the summary for THE AMERICAN JOURNEY (see below), and, instead, the title is actually:

Diversity Amid Globalization : World Regions, Environment, Development

From the Back Cover Written in a clear, engaging style with a straightforward chronological organization, The American Journey introduces readers to the key features of American political, social, and economic history. It gives prominent coverage to the West and South, highlights the importance of religion in American history, and traces the emergence of distinctively American ideals-and the way the conflict between those ideals and reality has shaped our nation's development. Compelling stories, ample use of quotations, excerpts from primary sources, and plentiful illustrations bring the past vividly alive. This combined volume covers American history from 1600 to present times. Chapter topics include the war for independence; the first republic; Jeffersonian Republicanism; the Jacksonian Era; industrial change and urbanization; slavery and the old South; the Civil War; transforming the West; the Progressive Era; the Great Depression and the New Deal; World War: 1939-1945; John F. Kennedy and the Cold War; Nixon and Watergate; and the Reagan revolution. For armchair historians who appreciate the fact that knowledge of the past matters most of all if we are to understand the present-and shape the future.
