good hot reading, qualitative prose, and imaginative topics
flesh and the word 3 is an excellent book about all the different nuances and possibilities of gay sex and erotics. it combines stories of the realistic tradition with stories of a more experimentalist or postmodern type. the whole range of american contemporary fiction is in a way combined with passion, erotics and obsessions. anybody interested in reading and interested in sex between men, should absolutely possess this book.

Flesh and the Word 3, solid buy.
As a good book that reaches a broad range of tastes in gay sex this is a good buy for the collector of anthologies. Some of the stories are wildly erotic and some are less that desiring, but overall the book contains quality stories. I strongly suggest it to an adventurer or the collector.

Don't you wish this club existed?
Ah, one of the staples of erotica -- the club, the organization, the underground world where the idea of SSC is tossed to the wind. Here we follow one young man's journey into such a "real" world where he is trained to be the plaything for other men, a role he enjoys from waking moment to sleeping moment and even in his dreams. Just wish more time was spent on the "slaves", all of them, instead of so focused on one man.

Depression & Anxiety Management: Cognitive Techniques for Managing Emotional Problems
Published in Audio Cassette by New Harbinger Pubns (1993)
Author: John, Ph.D. Preston
Amazon base price: $11.95
Average review score:

Depression Management
This is an excellent audio tape that explains what clinical depression is. It is a good starting point to help a person recognize what they are feeling. The side on anxiety management is for heavy problems. It might have been better to make two different tapes, but I still would highly recommend it.

I've given this tape to people who are obviously hurting. It is a way to help someone help themselves. It is easier to comprehend that reading a book on depression. Plus, it gives you a way to help when you see someone in pain.

This is not erotica or pornography
This very short books is a series of monologues by Franny, a gay man who embraces the role of "queen" not only by wearing what might be considered feminine clothing but also by protecting and teaching other gay men to accept themselves and not hide from the world around them. The monologues begin in 1950 when Franny is just accepting who he is and learning to become part of his community. The monologue chronical Franny's life for four decades as he interacts with dragqueens, butch gay men, lesbians, politicos, and intellectuals who come to view Franny as a staple and inspiring force in their lives. No explicit sexuality at all but a serious of honest and common spoken pieces representing the changes gay men and the mainstream culture around them experience post WWII. Often considered one of the best gay novels in American literature.

Hitler in Hollywood?
Interesting historical fiction about Nazi influence in the Hollywood of the World War. More than a little chilling in today's context.

A History of Watauga County, North Carolina

Good Source for information about early Watauga County
This is an excellent book for research about Watauga County, and it's early settlers. This book is a reprint of the 1915 edition and portions of it can be found online on my geocities site, Heartland/Estates/8473, when there, just click on the "Watauga" link and then watch for the name of the book. This book has original photographs and is a very nice volume to own and is just as nice as some of the other reprints out there, at a better price. Highly desirable if you do genealogy research in Watauga County. This book from the Overmountain Press, Johnson City, TN has a full name index which helps tremendously when doing your research.

Safe Sex: The Ultimate Erotic Guide

Good, Clean, Dirty, Fun !
I've always been keenly interested in reading about a man's first time and how he deals with safe sex, particularly a "straight" man's first time with another man. This book has compiled a nice collection of guidelines that address just that topic. The topics range from the romantic and sweet to the extremely erotic. It's a page turner, and you'll probably read it from cover to cover in only two sittings, and, dispite being a little "rehashed," it's good, clean, dirty, fun.

The Silver Jubilee Edition Commemorating the Twenty-Fifth Anniversary of the Leatherman's Handbook

Must have!
This is a wonderful classic of non-fiction in the "BDSM" world. Interwoven with snippets of erotica, Townsend explores the safety and reality of gay male "BDSM". Useful for any man who is a bottom and for those who enjoy them. My own copy has a bit of an update on AIDS but this book should be supplemented with current safety and health materials.
