The biggest weakness is that the book doesn't contain anything about this season's incredible crop of rookies, from Jackie Stiles to Katie Smith. However, if your local paper's sports section is as lousy at WNBA coverage as mine is, the book contains a treasure of pictures and words about some of the solidest basketball players in the world.

I hate to admit it, by my 18-month-old boy prefers this book to any other in his book collection. He likes "Goodnight Moon" and "Goodnight Gorilla," but he loves this book. I am ordering a new copy because the first one has worn out from use. The pictures are crisp and the text is simple for a young child. It has a fun page on counting and simple opposite concepts. It even helps mom learn some basketball stats --- like how tall Shaq is and how small Damon Stoudamire is. A drawback is your child may learn key terms like "dunk" or "dribble" before he says "mama."

This book deals with many problems fourth graders go through, from fitting in with your friends to apologizing to others when you are wrong. Bob Lanier writes a great story about three friends who love to play basketball (four friends if you count Joe's sister Sam). In this book, the boys are trying to think of a nickname for their new friend Gan.
I teach first grade and I think this would be a great book for read alouds. The book contains many black and white pictures and interesting topics boys and girls would be interested in. If the students have not experienced things in the story, they one day will and they may re-read this on their own.

Wake Me Up In Spring is a wonderful little book to read with a young child. The interaction between two friends, a mouse and a bear, conveys the sadness of being separated from a good friend and the joy of reuniting in a very simple and sweet way. You'll walk away from this one happy.

Would you like to solve a mystery? Well Jigsaw Jones did in The Case of the Great Sled Race. It was written by James Preller. In this book I learned not to steal. I liked this book because I like mystery.

I received the scrapbook a week before christmas and I was so excited. I thought it would of showed pictures of how they made the mummy... maybe a couple of pictures and about the CGI and everything but it only did a resume about the movie "The Mummy" and say a couple of egyptian facts here and there. Also, I only found 1 quote from an actors point of view (from Arnold Vosloo) in this VERY THIN scrapbook of 48 pages and they didn't even write his name right! His pictures were sexy but they could of embellish this book with a bit more information and quotes from the actors themselves...
