Incomparable Reading of Poe by Basil Rathbone

CreepyThis story is set in a very, very dark atmosphere, and yet Poe describe the castle and it's rooms as full of colors and life, creating an interesting contrast. This is a story about how no one can escape somethings in life, no matter what they do and how poerful they are. So, don't try to escape this short and nice story.

Another Dupin misteryThrough a series of newspaper clippings, Dupin and his friend, the narrator, are able to bring to light the mysterious murder of a young parisian girl. At times, though, Poe's style of writing seems a bit confusing, and I had to go back some paragraphs to fully understand Dupin's arguments and way of thinking. As happens with "The murders at Rue Morgue", here Poe is writing the beggining of the detective stories, but in "The mistery of Marie Roget" sometimes I had to disagree with Dupin's arguments, they just seemed a little bit too confusing and directerd the way he wanted things to seem.
Anyway, Poe was a master of rethoric and misty writing, and this story is another example of his great talent.

gran libro

A must have for all edgar allen poe fans

The best book in my library. To read more than once.Edgar Allan poe, the master of mystery and terror, translated by one of the greatest french poet, Charles Beaudelaire, who rewrite these stories with his own poetry rather than just translate word for word.
The edition? Simply the best! Best quality paper, and a real leather cover written in 23 carat gold.
The tales? Terrifying.
Chapeau!

ExcellentA traveler and his companion are caught in the road in the middle of the night. Seeing an abandoned building, they decide to pass the night in it. The traveler finds a room full of portraits, but one specially attracts his attention, because the woman in the portrait seems almost alive! The traveler's horror increases as he discovers the truth behind the painting story.
This is one of Poe's shortest stories, but it is also one of the greatest.
