I originally bought this book for my granddaughter and now am using it for shower gifts with every package I send out. It's a great way to "start" the family off. It also gives dad an opportunity to show himself in the pictures. Can't be without this special bedtime story.

I found the book to be very enjoyable for not only my children but also myself. I have found as with all Helen Oxenbury books they are bright and colourful to catch a childs attention. These books will be enjoyed for generations as I was first introduced to Helen Oxenbury books in 1985 when my eldest son was born, and I have passed them down to my younger children and they are having as much pleasure as he did.

I bought this book for my son when he was 8 months old and he loved it. This is the perfect book for a baby. The pictures held my sons interest and the simplicity of the story was ideal for his short attention span. A very sweet story book.

This book and all the others by Helen Oxenbury are wonderful for pre-toddlers and toddlers. Both of my children, one boy and one girl, loved them. They are simple and take about a minute to show your kids (not counting all the requests for "again" you will get). My children asked for them more than any other book we own. My wife and I give these books regularly to friends expecting children of their own. I couldn't recommend them higher as reading material for your own children, or as gifts for others.

The author writes her thankyou letters for the gifts received in the song "The 12 Days of Christmas". This would be enjoyed by the whole family as everyone knows the words of this well-known counting song. It is cleverly written and charts the increasing desperation of the astonished recipient.The ending is a stroke of pure genius! This book is a "must" for the festive season and seen first by me when our own children were small and we were browsing in our local library. The illustrations are also beautifully done.

My 8-year old twins loved this book and other "Tom and Pippo" stories by Helen Oxenbury when they were toddlers. Now I am having to buy them all over again for my 16-month old daughter. We got a few Tom and Pippo books out of the library and within a couple of days she could say "Pippo"! She brings the books over to me at least 4 times a day to be read to her! Tom and Pippo's stories and illustrations are very appealing to toddlers. If you are going to invest in a few good books, be sure to get this one and others by Oxenbury. You'll get your money's worth!

Both of my sons, 2 and 6 months love all of the Tom and Pippo books. In this book Tom tries to do everything himself-just like the young reader. Great illustration and simple quick text for short attention spans.

We have just fallen in love with Tom and Pippo. Their adventures have just the right amount of drama and crisis for toddlers. The hassle of having to wear a hat is tackled in the few pages of this book and the solution is satisfying for everyone. Plus, it is an idea we are going to use also!

The Spanish translation of this book is BETTER than the original in English. The story, about a father and his children pretending that they are going on a bear hunt, is imaginative and entertaining. And the ending is funny and exciting. (The bear gets away unharmed.) This book is great fun to read aloud. I highly recommend it.
