I have read all of Gunilla Norris' books, and found them deeply contemplative. I highly recommend all of them, to be read with a morning cup of tea and muffin.

My main reason for writing this review is that I eagerly ordered this title and discovered it is a REPRINT of an old book. I was disappointed that the Amazon blurb didn't include it's older date of publication, 1993. So, if you have not read this book, you are in for a treat. If you have, this is not a new work. Just a re-issue.

I was surprised to read the editorial review which regarded this book (and similar books) so poorly. We have 2 of these books (Survival - Could You Be A Frog? and the "Mouse" one of the same series.) My son (5 years old) thinks it's a lot of fun to play the "game" of survival and along the way you learn a lot of interesting facts about the animal. We find the book to be entertaining and challenging. It's a nice change from a regular book and it is very unique! We wish there were more books in the series.

This work is an analysis of the nature of "meaning-talk," and takes a fresh approach to the topic. It draws on the work of Wilfrid Sellars and Robert Brandom, and articulates claims of meaning as normative rather than descriptive. Along the way, and perhaps most important, there is a discussion of the nature of normativity. Although this book requires a background in philosophy in order to understand, it has enormous implications for recent philosophical debate. Taking the Wittgensteinian idea that normativity arises within our practices, the authors develop a perspective that is not merely suggestive (as Wittgenstein often was) but thoroughly discussed and defended. By rights, this book, alongside Brandom's Making it Explicit, should set the parameters for philosophical discussion of language and normativity for years to come.

Even if your educational background is in labor law, this book is vital for understanding the complex procedures of the National Labor Relations Board. Practicing before the NLRB is a very unique experience and you will quickly find the agency has its own way of doing things. I am a lawyer and I use this book every single time I represent a client in any kind of NLRB proceeding. It's expensive, but well worth every penny (besides, it's tax-deductible as a business expense).

We have the Oceans and Jungles books in this series and I want them all. My 2 year old son adores them. He finds new animals all the time and likes to hear all about them. I think the books are great because they combine the fun of a flap book with the mystery of a puzzle. They are beautiful to look at and lots of fun. I wish they'd come back in print, though I imagine they are expensive to manufacture. We think they're worth it!

I think that this book is a all time favourite, my friends have recommended it and i do to. The Best.

A great resource for management.

An excellent overview of a very complex and timely subject. I especially liked the ERP/E-Business Matrix and the discussion of regions, companies and assumptions underlying it. I found the discussion of "adaptive" vs. "disruptive" changes helpful and insightful. Very concise and to-the-point, a quick & easy read, but one which should be internalized over a longer period of time. Covered a lot of ground in less than 200 pages. Overall, an excellent addition to my bookshelf.

Would, however, have liked to see a bibliography & some footnotes for the statistics cited

The authors provide an excellent overview of what to expect when embarking upon the implementation of an enterprise resource planning system like SAP. They provide thoughtful insight on factors that should influence the decision to proceed with such a project as well as sufficient detail on the particulars of SAP.

An excellent introduction to SAP by people who live and breath it.

This book has excellent sections on Business Case, Functionality (showing the links between modules, not just functions)and Deployment Options. It really helped me understand what I was going into implementing SAP for my company.

The Book has only two dissappointing sections. The chapter on process reengineering could have been better structured and applied, Hammer has better material. The walk through of methodology in chapters 17 and 18 was dry, uninspiring and again unapplied. More could have been written on ASAP.

This book is designed for managers and deciders who are in an evaluation phase and compare different ERP solutions. R/3 is a world-class integrated ERP solution and the less risky possible choice. If there is any doubt left, this book will convince the reader. SAP is not just a piece of software, it's also a culture and a club. Belonging to it is a real asset in someone's career.

John Norris writes a very informative book in an easy-to-read style. All aspects of Artillery - from technology to tactics - and discussed. The Book is divided into centuries. Within each century, chapters about specific wars or technological/strategic developments appear. The only complaints i have about this book is that the text may seem dry at times and some of the technological innovations are hard to visualize without illustrations (the picture section in the middle is almost useless for this purpose). Overall, however, Artillery: a History is a good source for general artillery knowledge.

John Norris has conducted detailed research on his subject and traces the development of artillery through the ages up to modern times, from its earliest use in battle to the recent Gulf war. Artillery: A History isn't your usual picture book but a insightful and informative military history which examines how artillery plays an important part in conflicts.
