Color your own Book of Kells at your own kitchen table
"Color Your Own Book of Kells" is my favorite of the Color Your own Art Masterpieces volumes with illustrations rendered by Marty Noble. You know, the "Book of Kells," the famous Celtic book of the Middle Ages, may well be one of the first coloring books, in a manner of speaking. Certainly those illustrations lend themselves to being used for a classy little coloring book a lot better than the artwork of Renoir, Matisse or Cassatt. This book has 30 full-page renderings of saints, members of the Holy Family, Celtic crosses, and other finely detailed animals and Celtic spirits. "Color Your Own Book of Kells" would make a nice little gift for any little Irish lad or lass that you might be needing to give a present to in the days to come. Plus, if they have never seen a reproduction of the original (whose illustrations are actually much smaller than what is rendered here), then this will probably motivate them to do so.

Great For Everything!
I bought this book because I wanted to transfer the pictures on to fabric so I could do needle work with them. I found about 100 other uses as well. The Pictures were very clear and had bold lines that made it easy to see when tranfered. The faries themselves were very pretty, and even though there were about 50-75 different fairies, they all seemed to have their own personality. I found I was able to use them on fabric, wood, and even on my wall! I transfered some to my wall to make a mural and it worked great! You can use each picture more then once, but I found that the image started to fade, and it's best if only used once or twice. They would make very cute t-shirts if you wanted to transfer them, and then paint it. I can't think of anything you couldn't use them for, as it says in the book, transfers to anything that can absorb ink!

You should get this book if you need help
You should get this book if you need help. Also, anyone who wants to be helpful in this life would do well to look into this book. Terry Lynn Taylor writes so clearly and effectively. Whatever your perspective, whatever your frame of mind, she will bring you something fresh, another and new way of seeing, thinking and feeling this Great Reality. She does not preach to you, instead, she writes straightforwardly and at a level that anyone, of any "spiritual" level can relate to. I have "been there and done that, wrote the book, drew the pictures and ate the crayons while watching the video." You may also be the same. But things change, our lives change and sometimes things get so difficult for so long that, after awhile, maybe a few years, maybe a decade, you might really be stuck and then what do you do? This book is very simple, very clear and goes right to the basics. Get a clear mind. She tells you how. And she goes far beyond that. You may have heard it before, but did you forget? Did the negativities of the "outer world" throw you a few curves and smack you with the bat? It can be confusing sometimes and sometimes you can get so lost that you don't know what to do and you have forgotten that anything can be any good any more! Guardians of Hope will help you remember, or help you connect again for the first time in this life. That is what angels are for, it is what they are, it is what they do: they Help! This book can help you out, or help a friend who needs the help you want to give but somehow can't. The main thing is to Love and Trust and ask for help. It will come. You won't get grinded through a guilt trip and you won't be inflicted by arrogance, instead you will feel Peace again and you will learn how to regain and develop Peace in your mind and in your heart. And before long, sooner or later, you really will know and feel the angels in your life. Then you can go "Duh" and have a good healthy laugh! But what if you or someone you love is so far gone that Love and Trust seem to be lost and hopelessness seems to be in control? Try this book out; read it yourself and/or give it to the person for whom you are so concerned. Guardians of Hope is good for anyone of any religious belief, Christians and all others. This book is good for even those who have no religion. This book is good for anyone who needs help or who wants to be helpful. You will understand about angels and begin to learn and change and grow and feel really glad to be alive. Your angels are waiting and they are so patient and so eager! Even if you have never been "spiritual" before all you have to do is give this book a try and give the exercises a try. Angels are for real (this Universe is Vast!)and they exist to help everyone, everywhere, all the time and all you have to do is ask: Trust and Love will come once you experience angels. This book will help you to work with them instead of negating their work and negating yourself. Good Life to you and may you find what you are looking for and when you get it, share the joy within your smile!

Beautiful plates! Fun for adults young and old!
Don't let the suggested age for this book throw you - a person of any age would enjoy coloring these Japanese drawings. This delightful little coloring book has 16 beautiful transparent plates of geishas (reading, dancing, playing instruments, etc.) that can be colored with any medium and then placed over a lamp or window to give the illusion of stained glass. My only wish is that there were more pictures.

lauren the victorian girl
I thought the clothe were very pretty. The artist did a great job drawing the clothe and the features on the girls face. It is very colorful and fun to play with the clothe and specially since I can stick over and over the clothe on the doll. I love this book especially because I love the Victorian Era.

Coloring fun for Little Mermaid fans
My 4-year old daughter throughly enjoyed coloring the pages of this book. It's a refreshing change from the Disney version of Little Mermaid. We cut out the pages and taped them on windows. My child was very satisfied with the results of her efforts. She has colored several other books in the series, including Marty Noble's Cinderella Stained Glass Coloring Book. These books make a great small gift, party favor or stocking stuffer. My 4-year old seems to particularly like the page size in the smaller 8-page books in the series, because she can complete her picture in a relatively short period of time.

A Mother's Unconditional Love
Anderson, Hans C. The Ugly Duckling. Morrow Junior Books: New York, 1999. In The Ugly Duckling, a duck is having trouble fitting in. The other animals pick on him for being distinctively different from the other ducklings. Due to an overwhelming amount of embarrassment, he runs away. He stumbles across the house of a little old woman. He stays with her for a brief amount of time before he leaves her house also. A man finds him and takes him home. The man's children want to play with the duck. The duckling thinks that they are teasing him. He becomes frightened and runs out of their house. To his surprise, when he returns to the wild and sees his reflection in the water, he realizes that he has become a beautiful swan. Through kind words, comforting suggestions, and an attitude of faith, this story plays an active part in portraying the role of motherhood. The duck's mother is willing to accept the fact that one of her little ducklings are different from the others and deal with it appropriately. "She just took care that the big egg was as warm as the rest." She even puts forth an extra effort to hatch the oddly shaped egg. This Mother is willing to love her child no matter what the circumstances. She brings out the best in her child by making him feel good about himself. The duck's mother finds the hidden qualities that make her child special. She gives her child a feeling of hope for whatever life may put in his path. On one of the pages in the book, the illustrator creates something that really stands out. The mother duck's foot is carefully drawn between her baby and the other animals that are picking on him. In this picture, the mother is portraying how most mothers are a great source of protection for their kids. Mothers provide us with that feeling of protection from the minute that we are born until the day that we pass away. They make us feel safe. When everyone laughs at him, she is there to take his side. "He will make his way in the world as well as anybody." In the midst of such negative taunting, the mother duck finds the positive qualities that he beholds. Mothers stand up for you when you are too young to stand up for yourself. The author and the illustrator work together to reflect the protective bond that most mothers instinctively have. The little old woman in the book also shows an aspect of motherhood. She wants to give the duck a chance when the cat and chicken do not believe in him. "Oh, you are all talking nonsense. We will let it stay for a bit, for I am sure we will see some eggs from the creature soon enough." The mothering instinct that the old lady beholds allows the duck to stay and have a fair chance to prove that he can lay an egg. Mothers tell you that you can be whatever you want to be. You just have to believe in yourself. They are the ones who never give up on their children. A mother listens to your dreams and inspires you to fulfill them. The Ugly Duckling is a very meaningful story. This story shows that making the best of any situation is the best way to get good things out of it. If nothing else, we learn from our mistakes. Mothers play an extremely important role in the lives of their children. Through positive input, a protective attitude, and never giving up, this mother shows her unconditional love.
