Delivers What It Says
I was hoping to find short dramatic plays for my 5th grade class and that's what I got. Although the write up suggests the plays are for 3-6th grade, I was worried the book arrived saying 3-8th grade. Our first play was terrific! It lasted 10 minutes, was easy for the students to read, and quite factual. A great way to integrate your curriculum.

The truth is sometimes scarier than fiction
Now, I'm not sure if this book is based on a true story... butI know it can happen. This book gave me goosebumps as I read it. Icould not put it down. I must have read it in an hour! I suggest this book to anyone who likes/loves to read stories that are or could be true. I personally guarentee that this book will not disapoint you!

It's about a high school couple that had to deal with a baby
I extremely enjoyed reading this novel. It is very interesting and realistic. The novel included many of the topics a teenager can relate to. Also, by seeing how the main characters handle their bad situations, it can give guidance to a confused and scared teenager that may be faced with adult problems. Teenage love use to be innocent, but not anymore, and this novel proves it. Tish and Peter are the main characters in the book faced with reality. They are seventeen-year-old sweethearts that took things too far. Tish became pregnant and Peter refused to let her have an abortion. He proposed to her. They moved in together and Tish gave birth to a baby that they named Kate. Neither of their parents were supportive, so they both had to drop out of highschool to be able to make money, and college was just a "frustrated dream". I urge all young people to read this novel and to learn, learn from Tish and Peter's mistakes.

A moving, involving story
Quiet Dan has been adopted into a family which has experienced a series of foster children over the years - and his new 'sister' Mary can't understand why. For Dan, it's an uncertain miracle which can change at any moment, and his past survival skills kick in to keep him at bay from his new family. For Mary Kate, a determination to reject the new brother almost becomes reality. A moving, involving story which gives plenty of psychological insights.

One of the best
I think this is one of the best books on this topic available. I have purchased many in an effort to merge statistical knowledge with the Excel application. While Excel is a powerful tool it can be tough to figure out how to harness all that power. It is an expertly written, no-frills book. The author clearly knows how frustrating most of the other Excel books on the market can be so he takes great care to walk you though the steps to success. A one star hit for a few noticeable things missing. One topic I really would like to have seen is creation of boxplots (very tough to do in Excel). A minor issue though because this book is loaded with great infromation and step-by-step approaches.

It is a bit pricey at [$], but I think well worth the price. If you can find it second hand then all the better because there is no data or sample disc included. I usually find the lack of a disc for such an expensive book annoying; however, there is a web site for you to download the data files referenced in the book so everything makes sense. As the title suggests the focus is business statistical applications. Bottom line: great book.

This is great book that I have ever read. It helps me to solve a lot of problems in my MBA courses.

This is a good book ...so read it
Edgar Allan is a good book. It's a touching story about a young african american boy trying to have a good family.I liked this book. It made me think twice about how african americns were treated back then. I thought that the book was something that I would have my little brother read when he gets older.
This book showed me many things about life in general. I could not imagine having people treat each other that way ,and it makes you think another way before you disrespect some one that you know and love. If I were you then I would read this good book.!!

ok book
Edgar Allan is an ok book. I do recommand it to anyone who is having problem accepting a family member. It is a story about a family who is having a problem keeping a loved one. They
adopt a black boy but the town is mad at them and one of his sisters is mad at him for being black. I learned from this book to never judge some one by what they look like before getting to know them.

Edgar Allen
Edgar Allen was a wonderful novel. It truly explained how African-Americans were treated no matter how old or young they are. Each and every moment kept me on the edge of my seat. The actions of the townspeople were unbelievable and sickening. Burning a cross on the father's front laen, staring at Edgar Allen like he was some sort of creature. This book was a real page turner!

The central characters, Michael and Edgar Allen, were very believable. Michael was like an ordinary teen just trying to get through life as it is. Edgar Allen was like a little toddler, without a care in the world. I remember seeing others make fun of someone close to me, like the townspeople and Edgar Allen. Sometimes, like Michael, I was too scared to say anything.

Edgar Allen was so realistic, I almost felt I was there at some points. I can't believe the was people treated African-Americans. If I were you, I definitely wouldn't miss this amazing book. Edgar Allen is a definite two thumbs-up page turner!

Freddy's Book - Great!!!!
I have just bought my second copy of this book - for my grandson. In 1978 when his father (my son) was 11, I was a young single parent and this book helped me explain things that, well, let's just say if we hadn't run into this book, I might not have a grandson. I wish "Freddy" had been around when I was a kid tying to figure this stuff out. Freddy's Book is required reading at this grammy's house.

Good but the conclusion was too neat.
This book was good but the conclusion was too neat. Also it didn't make sense that Merry was able to throw the big, heavy stone. But the part were Merrie ran away and had to hide in the woods was good. This story was about 12 year old Merrie, a deaf girl on Martha's Vineyard in 1880, who must prove herself inoccent when she is one of four people without alibis on the night of a murder.

A Small Civil War
A Small Civil War was about a boy that was given a book by his teacher. This book contained a lot of bad language, and the mayor found out that there was a law that you can not read it in school. So their teacher said that he was going to go court to fight it and see if they could read it in school.
I liked the book because it made me not want to put it down. It was a really interesting book because I liked that I could learn about the war.
I liked this book more then the other books that I have read because I'm really not the person that would like to read books.

Lisa Bright and Dark
Published in Mass Market Paperback by Signet Book (1982)

Dated.
Lisa is smart, pretty, popular and going insane. On "bright days" she's normal. On "dark days" she just sits there at her schooldesk and listens to the voices inside her head. Realizing that she is ill, she asks her parents to take her to a psychiatrist. They ignore the problem and say she's just going through a stage.

Lisa begins to act increasingly bizarrely. An episode of self-mutilation at school earns her a six-week vacation in Florida, but no actual help. By then her teachers have realized that something is seriously wrong, but their hands are tied. The only people who really try to help Lisa are her friends: Mary Nell, Betsy, and Elizabeth. Together they form a therapy group where Lisa sits and talks to them about what's going on. But it doesn't help. Lisa walks through a plate-glass window; her parents still don't pay attention. Only when she attempts suicide do they really wake up.

I found this book to be rather dated. It was written back in the sixties. The parents' reaction was unbelievable and the ending came too quickly and too fairy-taleishly. I'm not saying it was a terrible book, but I've read many that were much better.

you must read
Lisa Bright and Dark By John Neufeld. Lisa, Bright and Dark is about a 16 year old girl who is going crazy. Some days are good and she acts normal and then other days are her dark days. On these days, she acts like no one else is around and she is the only one existing on this earth. When she is having a dark day she feels very lost, confused, scared and helpless. Her family and teachers ignore Lisa when she tells them that she is going crazy. They just don't want to believe it. The only people that believe in her and want to help her are her friends. Lisa's friends try many things to help Lisa with her disease.

This book was appealing and exciting in the sense that there was always something going on. I was always waiting to see what was going to happen next, and how they were going to help Lisa with her disease. You never knew how Lisa was going to act, because she was always having different mood swings. Her friends tried so hard to help her get better, and at first it seemed like she didn't appreciate what they were doing for her. But in the end, you realize that what they did for Lisa was a great thing.

In this book there are two essential messages. The first is that you should take your friends seriously and always try and keep them. In this case Lisa's friends saved her life. The other very important message is that parents should take kids more seriously. Often parents and other adults don't really listen to kids because they think that since they are younger, and maybe not as mature as they are, children don't know what they are talking about. But in this case Lisa really did know what she was talking about. She was going crazy and she needed help. If her parents had just trusted and listened to what Lisa was trying to tell them then she might not have walked through the window, and might have gotten better faster.

Although this book was exciting, it did have some bad qualities too. The biggest problem was that it was not completely relevant to kids in this day and age. Lisa's problem would be handled a lot differently now than it was back then. Schools now would have definitely helped handle the situation, if the child could not get help from their parents. Different laws have been passed now that would have helped out with this situation. Now, many people are more aware of mental illness then they were back then.

Overall Lisa bright and Dark, l was an enjoyable book. This book always had something going on and it really grabbed my attention. What made this book enjoyable was that it had a satisfying ending without being too unrealistic. Even though this book was a little dated, the messages that it contained are still important today. If I were to rate this book between 1 through 10 I would probably give it an 8.

This is a great book, so read it Buddy~!!*
I would reccommend John Neufeld's book Lisa Bright and Dark to anyone. It's a "keep you on the edge of your seat book". I really enjoyed this book, mainly because it's about people my own age. I also enjoyed it because it also showed how adults ususally don't listen to everything that you would say just because your not as old as them. This book is about a girl who is about 17 years old and she is going crazy. She tried to tell her parents but, they wouldn't listen to her. All the teachers in school were also trying to ignore the fact, in fear that they would make Lisa's parents feel like they didn't raise her right. The only people who would dare to try to help her was her friends. It really realtes to alot of situations that go on today. Most of the time parents and adults just don't listen to you and take you seriously. That pretty much summerizes what i read so far so thats all the opinion i can give you. All i can say is that strongly reccomend you read this book, and if you don't read it then its your loss.
