It is a bit pricey at [$], but I think well worth the price. If you can find it second hand then all the better because there is no data or sample disc included. I usually find the lack of a disc for such an expensive book annoying; however, there is a web site for you to download the data files referenced in the book so everything makes sense. As the title suggests the focus is business statistical applications. Bottom line: great book.

This book showed me many things about life in general. I could not imagine having people treat each other that way ,and it makes you think another way before you disrespect some one that you know and love. If I were you then I would read this good book.!!
adopt a black boy but the town is mad at them and one of his sisters is mad at him for being black. I learned from this book to never judge some one by what they look like before getting to know them.
The central characters, Michael and Edgar Allen, were very believable. Michael was like an ordinary teen just trying to get through life as it is. Edgar Allen was like a little toddler, without a care in the world. I remember seeing others make fun of someone close to me, like the townspeople and Edgar Allen. Sometimes, like Michael, I was too scared to say anything.
Edgar Allen was so realistic, I almost felt I was there at some points. I can't believe the was people treated African-Americans. If I were you, I definitely wouldn't miss this amazing book. Edgar Allen is a definite two thumbs-up page turner!

I liked the book because it made me not want to put it down. It was a really interesting book because I liked that I could learn about the war.
I liked this book more then the other books that I have read because I'm really not the person that would like to read books.

Lisa begins to act increasingly bizarrely. An episode of self-mutilation at school earns her a six-week vacation in Florida, but no actual help. By then her teachers have realized that something is seriously wrong, but their hands are tied. The only people who really try to help Lisa are her friends: Mary Nell, Betsy, and Elizabeth. Together they form a therapy group where Lisa sits and talks to them about what's going on. But it doesn't help. Lisa walks through a plate-glass window; her parents still don't pay attention. Only when she attempts suicide do they really wake up.
I found this book to be rather dated. It was written back in the sixties. The parents' reaction was unbelievable and the ending came too quickly and too fairy-taleishly. I'm not saying it was a terrible book, but I've read many that were much better.
This book was appealing and exciting in the sense that there was always something going on. I was always waiting to see what was going to happen next, and how they were going to help Lisa with her disease. You never knew how Lisa was going to act, because she was always having different mood swings. Her friends tried so hard to help her get better, and at first it seemed like she didn't appreciate what they were doing for her. But in the end, you realize that what they did for Lisa was a great thing.
In this book there are two essential messages. The first is that you should take your friends seriously and always try and keep them. In this case Lisa's friends saved her life. The other very important message is that parents should take kids more seriously. Often parents and other adults don't really listen to kids because they think that since they are younger, and maybe not as mature as they are, children don't know what they are talking about. But in this case Lisa really did know what she was talking about. She was going crazy and she needed help. If her parents had just trusted and listened to what Lisa was trying to tell them then she might not have walked through the window, and might have gotten better faster.
Although this book was exciting, it did have some bad qualities too. The biggest problem was that it was not completely relevant to kids in this day and age. Lisa's problem would be handled a lot differently now than it was back then. Schools now would have definitely helped handle the situation, if the child could not get help from their parents. Different laws have been passed now that would have helped out with this situation. Now, many people are more aware of mental illness then they were back then.
Overall Lisa bright and Dark, l was an enjoyable book. This book always had something going on and it really grabbed my attention. What made this book enjoyable was that it had a satisfying ending without being too unrealistic. Even though this book was a little dated, the messages that it contained are still important today. If I were to rate this book between 1 through 10 I would probably give it an 8.
