grim
I am sorry to write a bad review but the book is very depressing, dark and grim. The poetry in it is gruesume. I feel very sorry for the author, who had a tragic loss of her brother and hope she is coping better now. Perhaps someone in a like state of mind will appreciate the book better than I. My losses this year were a father to cancer and a sister to cancer.Maybe sudden death is responsible for her reactions to brother's death. I found "Healing After Loss" by Martha Hickman,"Grieving the Loss of Someone You Love"by Mitsch and Brookside, and especially "How To Go On Living When Someone You Love Dies" by Therese Rando much more suited to my frame of mind.
A Great Book
I ordered this book prior to my sister's passing. After she passed away and we returned home, the book was waiting for me. It touched my soul. The author feels the way I do at such a time of grief. She walks you through each stage and truely understands what I am going through. Her insight is from the heart. Her story is my story except that my sibling died of cancer. I would recommend this book to any one who has lost an adult sibling. There aren't to many books relating to the death of an adult sibling.
Excellent book for coping with loss of adult sibling.
Love and compassion flows within the chapters of Dancing in the Dark : A Sister Grieves. Anyone who has lost an adult sibling will be able to relate to this book.
The journey through grief is walked with Elsie. The reader will experience her pain, memories, and struggle.
The emotions evoked will help heal the soul. Her loss is our healing and her resolution our inspiration.

A brief look at a complex young girl
My copy of this is a mere 127 pages long. The original title of this book was Touching, which is perhaps a better indication of the subject matter.
Harry goes to visit his father and step-mother. There is no animosity there, no typical kid-of-divorce angst. He goes on this visit specifically to meet his step-sister, Twinkle, for the first time. Although he has heard much about her, he has never seen her, and Harry tries to brace himself for this first meeting. Twink has cerebal palsy and struggles with even the most basic of functions. Harry feels sick the first time he meets her. Yet, through a lot of questions directed at his step-mother and his other step-sister Whizzer, Harry begins to piece together a charming and touching history of Twink.
This is a story that provides a glimpse into the bravery and spunkiness of Twink without being saccharine. It's short, and there really isn't any climax or telling moment at the end--it's merely a vehicle to help Harry (and the reader) learn more about Twink as well as her family's and her own struggles with CP. It's a very quick read. The writing is solid and uncomplicated. All in all, this is a decent, interesting little book.

The novel "TWINK"
This novel is another touching piece of work by John Newfeld it is written in the same style as his earlier novels, "EDGAR ALLAN ," LISA BRIGHT AND DARK." It is about a sixteen year old kid whose mother dies and goes to live with his father and step mom and his half sister, and all the struggles they go through with his half sister Twink who is diagnosed with cerabral palsey, I recomend that you read this book I thought it was a great piece of work.
