Could not be a better guidebook.
This is one of the most well done guidebooks I have ever seen. Some of my friends refer to the first volume of this book as "The Bible of Northwest Climbing." This one is destined for the same accolades.

The book itself is made of heavy stock paper - something that you can throw around in your car and not worry about too much. The black and white pictures are awesome and the route descriptions are well written. Hardware suggestions appear to be appropriate and the permit information looks good too.

This book describes 96 new routes and includes crag climbs (something which was not covered in the first edition). Perhaps the best thing about this book is that most of the climbs are somewhat off of the beaten track and not the most well known. Every self-respecting climber in the northwest should own both of these books - they're guaranteed to get you excited and help you pick your next trip.

guide to our worlds
I like this book. That was probably the first book of analytical philosophy I've read in my life. And I think it really can be your first book to. It gives a real (though this word may seem suspicious in the context of Goodman's ideas) sense of a convergency of epistemology and ontology in today's philosophy. In spite of typical 'dry' image of philosophy this book brings you back to human reality lost a couple of centuries ago by generous efforts of Descartes et al. It's the best clear and concise introduction into views of Nelson Goodman, after which your reading of his major book, "Ways of Worldmaking", will be even more pleasant.

Treehouses 2002 Wall Calendar

a beautiful, whimsical calendar
This companion calendar to Peter and Judy Nelson's 'The Treehouse Book' features photos of fourteen North American treehouses. Treehouses are located in New England, California, Oregon, Washington and British Columbia, and Paul Rocheleau's photographs are wonderful -- nice lighting and perspective. While most of the featured treehouses are private homes or recreational sites, one is an office and two are commercial inns. I will probably never be lucky enough to have a treehouse office, but I will certainly make an effort to visit the B&B!

January through December 2002 are covered, each accompanied by a large facing photograph that is approximately 11 inches by 11 inches; another very small picture is on the opposite page -- this is sometimes another treehouse but more often a detail or alternative perspective of the one featured for that month. The opposite page also contains a short paragraph of text telling where the treehouse is located and any other interesting information about it, like the treehouse built in memory of a son killed at sea.

The date grid includes holidays, daylight savings time, and seasonal (incl. full moon) information. The grid is rather small, about one-and-a-half inches square for each day, but it is adequate to write in appointments if you are not John Hancock.

This is a beautiful calendar that may well have the power to bring a smile to your face -- a bit of whimsy and romance right on your refrigerator or office wall!

Great introduction for beginnners, reminder for experienced
This book is a must for all beginners moving into the world of management, and I highly recommend it as a refresher course for those of us who have been doing it for a while. I do not have an MBA, but I do have a number of years' real-world experience in management, and I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is very light and easy to read, and although much of it seems like it should be common sense, there are a number of things that are easy to forget, and it's worth the refresher. I skipped some chapters because they were too basic, but I probably read 2/3 of the book (in the matter of a business trip) and actually did learn some new information.

Simple and concrete guide on being a manager.
I found the reading of this book pretty rewarding. I recommned this book to all those who are looking for a quick guide on being a manager. On the other hand, those looking for new approaches on management may find this book too simple.

Skip the MBA and read this book! Save $40,000
First, this book is a "fun" read which is unusual for most business books. If you want to know how mananagement thinks and how it works in most corporate environments today - get this book.

The first half is execellent and by the time it's completed you'll know exactly the way your poor boss has been tramautized over the past 10 years with all the new passing management fads. No wonder management is basically skeptical and seems to have a schizophrenic identity crisis.

The second half of the book hangs a bit, maybe the authors ran out of ideas. But the final Index of the 10 essential management books is invaluable. I've already read 3 of the suggestion.

Read this book. Take your boss to lunch, realize how trapped he really is, get a raise, and save $40,000 on your MBA. Just keep reading and reading books like this.

Left for dead the USS. Indianapolis story.
Left for dead the USS. Indianapolis story. The book I read was called ?Left for Dead?. Pete Nelson wrote it with a preface by hunter Scott. This book is a true story about one of the biggest mistakes made in the NAVY. Lets start from the beginning; this story is about the boat the USS. Indianapolis called the indi for short. The indi was a proud flagship for the U.S. pacific fleet it had been through many important battles and won many medals for her crew. The indis next mission was so secret that even the captain of the vessel did not know what it was only what he was supposed to do the captains name was captain Macvay. What the indi was caring was the A-bomb it was to take it to the U.S. airstrip were it would be flown to drop on Japan. On the way pack to pearl harbor the India was hit by an I-58 sub torpedo well the indi sank after that and out of her 800 crew only 350 made it off the ship. The surviving crew survived in the shark-infested waters for 7 days with out food and water. When they were finally rescued there were only 50 people left. The captain was wrongly curt marceled because the NAVY wanted to hide the mistake it made even though the crow tried to clear his name they couldn?t Intel a boy named Hunter Scout did the India story for a history project did he find something to clear the captains name. You will have to read to find out what. I didn?t like the book because it was to slow for me.

Left For Dead
This book is a very exciting journey. It kept me wanting to read on. I really felt as if I were a part of the adventure of the combat. It was a great thriller and at the same time a great lesson in history. It is a war time classic. Any one who enjoys an action war thriller or a good non-fiction book would absolutely love to read this. I have a hard time reading but found this kept my interest. I do have to say that the book starts out a bit slow, but towards the middle it speeds up into a fast pace adventure of the Japenese sending a torpedo into the front of a ship. Amercian soldiers were stranded in the middle of nowhere. I would say that my favorite part of this book is how they get themselves into more danger as they try to work their way back home. The days they are stranded are full of death, mysteries, murders and cannibalism. ...
This book was just over 200 pages with large font. Easy reading and a great book for adults and teens. I would not recommend this book to a younger child for it's graphic contents. I think that because of the war that is going on in Iraq right now that it made this book more interesting and more real to me. It also made me think about how horrible war is.
I think of how aweful it probably is out there for all those people fighting. So do yourself a favor and order this book online today. You won't be sorry.

An excellent read!
I enjoyed this book and intend to recommend for purchase in my local high school library where I work. We need more high interest, lower reading level books to interest our young men. This will do it! Also, here's a true hero; someone who saw a "wrong" and worked to "right" it.

no fear
This book i would recommed to anyone thinking of getting into racing or a rookie in racing. Ernie Irvan shows how hard it is to do well in racing and always have a smile on your face , its not easy. The family life is not easy as well, familys take the brunt of all racers anger and frustrations. Not only does Ernie talk about racing he talks about the good old days as well , when he was a child growing up and how hard it was for his family to survive. He seems to really care for his family but all in all he seems to keep racing a #1 in his life , his family seem to come second. Ernie had a huge scare when he crashed his car but in the end of the book he states that he knows what it takes to win, but does he or did he really learn what you can loose by racing and having such a terrible near death accident, im not convinced he did. This is why i would recommend this to the new racers so they realize just what they are getting into and how dangerous it can be , not only to them but to all others on that track with them. Its my wish to all whom have thought about getting into racing that they read this book and take every aspect into concideration before you get hurt or someone you love gets hurt.

A forthright view of racing from the inside
As an avid race fan, I was immediately hooked from the first page and in fact, read the entire book in one evening. I was particularly pleased that it was written in easy to understand, everyday language, thereby making it a book, many people of all education levels would enjoy. The recovery of the driver was a miracle and his recovery remarkable. I enjoyed reading of the business conflicts because too many of us envision the drivers as living a life of Utopia. I was glad to hear that even Nascar drivers worry about house payments. I was too busy reading to care about misspelled words.

Motivational, touching, and straight forward look at Ernie
Once I started reading this book it was painful to put it down. It reads as if Ernie was right there talking to you.

Ernie's writing comes straight from the heart. His insights into the racing world are wonderful. But what will really capture your heart are his inspiring views of family, friends, and just life in general!

If you are looking for a book with great insight into one driver's experiences with sponsors, teams, and fellow racers, without all the sugar coating and pre-written victory speeches, then READ THIS BOOK! I plan on reading it again soon!

A book for kids of all ages.
This book is a wonderful pictoral account of (primarily) adult tree houses. It is enchaning to read. It brings back memories and fuels dreams for the future. A must for any kid at heart who has ever dreamed of the Swiss Family treehouse. The sky is the limit.

Tree Huggers Beware.
Great Book, with lots of great pictures. Some technical stuff also. Another book that has a little bit on building tree houses is called "Shelters Shacks and Shanties by D.C. Beard. I love tree's myself but for you tree huggers complaining about a few nails, sheesh, your houses are full of lumber. Look in the walls at the studs, under the floors at the joists, kitchen cabinets, dining room table and chairs, bedroom furniture, etc. etc. so don't worry about a few nails in a tree eh, they love the iron in them anyhow!

This book brought back a lot of childhood memories!!
I loved this book! When I was a kid, my best friend Kathy and I shared a tree/club with her brother and his friends, called the Monkey Club. Of course, it was quickly determined that the boys and girls could not co-exist in the Monkey Club, so Kathy and I formed a rival club(the Foxy Lady Club-hey, these were the 70's!) in a huge oak not far from the boys. Kathy and I would leave secret messages for each other, stuffed inside one leg of pantyhose and tied to a limb, so it swayed in the breeze. I can't remember how many times we had to defend our treehouse from marauding bandits(a.k.a. her brother and his no-good friends). This rivalry, sometimes friendly and sometimes not, lasted until it was determined by our parents that the original Monkey Club was off limits, due to the fact that the tree had grown into some power lines. Since, we had grown a bit older, and also because there were no more viable trees in the area, our collective interest in treehouses waned. Reading! ! this book helped me realize that those were some of the most magical times of my life. I haven't been to my old neighborhood in years, but I think I might take a little drive and see if our treehouses are still there... Thanks for the memories!

High and Dry
I love L'Engle's writing. Particularly "The Time Quartet." Each book, while exploring time and space and spiritual battles between good and evil, has also been creative throughout. Yes, "Many Waters" starts off with a fresh idea and setting. I loved getting to know Meg's brothers, the twins. I enjoyed the descriptions of the seraphim and nephilim, and the clear connections to angels and fallen angels. I also thought L'Engle handled the adolescent struggles of the boys in a mature way.

The problem for me was that the story became tedious. The conflict was minimal, compared to previous books, and the main thing I looked forward to was the coming of the many waters, the description of the great flood as told of in biblical accounts.

But it never came. L'Engle wimped out on her one trump card. She refused to play the card and truly open a past world to us. In this, I was sorely disappointed. She has the ability and the imagination to do amazing things. Yet, here she left me high and dry. I recommend the book as a part of the series, but alone it is far from my favorite.

A Miraculous Finish to the Time Quartet: Many Waters
Again, Madeleine L'Engle puts forth yet another triumph. Many Waters is a unique heart warming story that almost all can relate to and enjoy. However, this tale is no children's story. L'engle fills the adventure of Sandy and Dennys Murry with romance, rich vocabulary, Biblical stories and theories, and more adult criteria. Indeed, it would not be wise to read this book and not be accustomed to the story of Noah's Arc. For the correct audience this book is perfection! Many Waters takes its readers on aventures almost unthinkable by the average human mind. L'Engle, again, displays her brilliance and absolutely perfect imagination.

An Amazing Fantasy Book
This is an amazing book. I loved it. I would recommend it to anyone who loves fantasy. It is a sequel to A Wrinkle in Time. This book is about Sandy and Dennys Murry. They "think" they are the ordinary people in the Murry family and compared to the rest of the family, they are. One day when they came home from school they went into their mother and father's lab to get the hot cocoa. Their father had a new experiment in the lab and they started to press buttons and make wishes. After they left the lab they saw the "Do Not Enter, Experiment in Progress" sign on the door, but they were too late. They are transported to a time and place that they do not know. If you read it you can find out where and when they were transported to. They meet some terrible and some lovely people. They have many new friends that they don't want to leave, but unfortunately have to. This book has everything a book should have. Fantasy, mystery, horror, suspense, romance, and history. This is a book for everyone.
