Great, if a bit uneven in spots.
It's obvious the Destroyer series is back on track. This book isn't the best Destroyer novel I've read, but it is by no means a bad book. There's something for almost everyone here--some great scenes with Remo doing what he does best, some great scenes with Remo and Chiun doing what they do best (whether you feel that's bantering and annoying the hell out of each other or killing, they're both served up in spades here), a treasure hunt, clones, hints of things to come, twists, turns, cave-ins...whew!...) I look forward to reading more from Jim Mullaney. Way to go, Jim, ya dun good.

Remo and Chiun tie up the Neo-Nazis of IV--in classic style.
A fitting conclusion to a trilogy that gave us more of the classic Remo and Chiun. An insightful peek into the House of Sinanju, a treasure hunt, clones, Nazis, killings--all are present and served up in the style that true Destroyer fans crave including the Yin/Yang of Remo and Chiun's father/son love/hate relationship. The magic is back in the series--and the ending gives us enough clues to see that more is on the way!

Looks like the destroyer is in good hands
It was iffy for awhile but the new author has got a good grasp of the essence of the series.

Nice book, but the selection of works is limited
This book is a catalogue for an exhibition that was held at the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute in Williamstown, Massachusetts. The reproductions do not represent the full work of Millet but rather the selection of works that was presented in that exhibition. There are many reproductions of drawings, pastels and watercolors, and only a few paintings. Many of the drawings are preparations for larger scale paintings. I bought the book after a visit to the Musee d'Orsay in Paris and was disappointed not to find many paintings that I remember from that visit - not even "The Angelus", which is probably Millet's most famous work. Still there is a large number of beautiful drawings and paintings, and the introductory text is interesting. I wish the reproductions would be larger - there are only about ten full page reproductions throughout the book.

Very pleased with the quality of the book
This is the first quality pyblication I have found on Millet. While I was looking for more of a coffe table type book of his paintings, I was slighlty disappointed that many of his works were not included but the history of his life more than makes up for it.

A classic, fun Destroyer!
When a rich, spoiled, rock star groupie gets mad and decides to testify against Daddy's illegal activities for revenge, someone puts out an "open" contract on her life. Remo and Chiun are sent to make sure she makes it to the witness stand, but surprisingly, their worst enemy is the girl herself! Usually half-stoned out of her mind, the red-headed bimbo is so busy trying to "do" her latest favorite rock star that even two Sinanju trained assassins can't seem to keep tabs on her!

This book is fast-paced and funny, taking outrageous jabs at hired hit men, radio personalities, rock music stars and their fans.

A good balance of character and plot.
Remo quits CURE...Yes, he really does, and wait till you see what he wants to do instead! This obok is a fast, easy read with lots of humor, action and excitement. For fans, Remo has some interesting character development, and Ruby Jackson Gonzales makes a comeback from #33 ("Voodoo Die"). Whether that's a welcomed comeback or not depends on your opinion of this character; I, for one, think she's fun, but the way she's written could be construed as racist by some; it's a bit dated.

High fun
I admit to being an eclectic reader. When I was driving 7.5 hours one way on a Friday and then back again on Sunday, I needed something that went beyond music. I stopped in a truck stop and perused the audio books. The Destroyer series looked fun.

It has been sheer pleasure to listen to! I even (now that I am no longer driving so much) listen to them in the car for the shorter commute.

Cheesy? Campy? Silly? Sure! That is exactly what makes them so much fun. I was a huge fan of the old Green Hornet series and these books remind me of that. They are graphic in description for sure, but listening to Richard Sapir read them is marvelous. He is very talented.

I will be buying more of the audio books.

Decent furry tale
Ever since spending the winter in an airplane hangar, Rory the kangaroo rat has longed to fly. His seemed an impossible dream - until he finds the old model plane. But before he could hide it and then begin to work on it, Charlie Gribble came along - a boy as interested in the plane as Rory was. Together, Rory, Charlie, and Crispin the lemming made a good team. And the model plane soon became a real plane. But one problem remained - a huge flock of starlings. With all the starlings, the plane couldn't take off. But what could one lemming, one boy and one rat do about it? Although the characters are a bit shallow, the story was very well written, like all of Murphy's novels. If you love planes and human-animal communicaton furry tales, give this a try.

CURE director Harold Smith is center stage; to his horror!
Remo Williams thought he would never be rid of his lemony boss Harold Smith, director of the supersecret organization CURE. After all, Smith was the one responsible for framing Remo for murder, faking his execution, and shanghai-ing him into service at CURE; a man who doesn't exist for an organization that doesn't exist. When golden boy Blake Corbish takes the helm at CURE, Remo is surprised to find that he likes Corbish even less than Smith and refuses to carry out Corbish's first order: Find Smith and kill him. Good thing, because Corbish is behind a plot to usurp CURE's awesome powers for his own evil ends, and only Dr. Harold Smith stands in his way. Can Remo Williams save the man who framed him for murder and virtually enslaved him? Of course, Remo is the Destroyer...the question is, will he

Entertaining
A good read for mindless entertainment. It has all the usual elements: action, romance, intrigue. If I remember the setup accurately, the Destroyer is an orphaned American who is taken in by a martial arts expert and taught in secret ancient martial arts, which allows him to move so fast that he cannot be seen.

A pretty good Destroyer novel.
I enjoyed this book. It isn't the best book in the series, but it's definitely a fun one. If you can find a copy, check it out.

I guess if you like Remo...
I can see the appeal of Remo -- the dialogue and action are funny and fast-paced, and some of the names and situations are pretty hilarious. This book also had some intriguing mystical undercurrents. However, if rampant bloody killing (by our heroes, not the villains) and a singular lack of sympathy for abruptly-ended lives doesn't float your boat (I mean, I guess few people care about killing Stormtrooper-equivalents), or if some mild misogyny and other insensitivities get on your nerves, don't bother. The concepts of mercy and change of heart make brief cameo appearances, but don't look for them to play leading roles. A fun, silly, bloody, shallow, violent, sometimes unpleasant read.

Best Destroyer In Recent Memory
A Pound of Prevention is one of the best Destroyer books to come out in recent memory. As a long time fan of the series I appreciated the authors references to earlier books to familiarize the reader with the history of our two hero's. Chiun is back to his most lovable self of old and Remo discovers something within himself during this adventure. The story grips you from beginning to end and does not dissapoint at the end.

Remo gets mad!
There seems to be a new plan to organize all the crime families in the world into one. The leaders of all of the groups are assembled in East Africa to work it all out. One of the groups seems to have a different idea, though. Remo wants to let all of them get nuked. All this is happening while Chiun is working on an old contracted promise from Sinanju. This is another good one. It starts off like a redo of an early Destroyer adventure but takes a very different turn. There is a lot of Sinanju history and tradition in this book, too. And, for all of you who wonder about Remo's family and his duty to train the next master, well that is mentioned in this book with a possible hint to a future storyline.
