Callan Lives!
Not a bad little book. Probably not quite as good as the series, but very readable. There are about 5 books in the Callan series and this is probably the best one. Russian Roulette is also a good read.

Best of Bradley
This is a compilation of many of the best articles published in the Motor Boating & Sailing rag this loveable, yet curmudgeonly, old chap wrote. He and his lovely wife Dory lived a varied life aboard more vessels (excluding multi-hulls -- you don't want to know what he thinks of them, or their owners) (insert knowing grin HERE) and they had lots of life experiences of a nautical flair.

The articles he wrote detail wonderful experiences he shared. The thing I like about Mr. Bradley is that he is not a chap who willingly does without the necessities of life in order to be aboard a boat. He has his toys, and enjoys them too.

This book is for the more mature boater, who will recognize the many truths he writes about in this gem. His wife added much to his happiness aboard, and he tells exactly how that was achieved. (Men, especially those with reluctant wives, should Take Notes)

Anyway, I enjoyed the articles. Not a lot of storm-tossed sea-stories here -- this is life aboard a boat, written by a couple who did it for decades.

The illustrations are just wonderful too.... James Mitchell captured the Bradley we knew and loved. And the neighbors too, even those flaky ones are almost recognizable.

So, buy the book, and enjoy your moments aboard the Simba. Dory's pouring, and if you're lucky, it'll be a fresh pina colada from Dick's blender -- which, incidentally, is a NECESSITY aboard.

Thank you.

Good review of pharmacology
I used this text in my pharmacology course in phar. school. It was very helpful in understanding the broad picture. Although little is written in detail, Rosenfeld offers a good summary of such a complex topic.

Raging Skies: Book Two: The Changing Earth Trilogy
Published in Paperback by Lightstream Publications (01 March, 1999)
Authors: Nancy Mitchell, Edie Christensen, James Gallagher, Angela Hartmangruber, and Nancy Mitchel
Amazon base price: $5.95
Average review score:

All three books in the trilogy are very good
Jenny and her friends are captivating in their trilogy revolving around three years of high school. "Earth Rising", "Raging Skies" and "Global Warning" are filled with fictional natural disasters plus international intrigue some 20 years in the future and provide the teens with daring challenges. How they manage the situations in the San Francisco Bay Area setting is realistically presented and keeps interest high. Hopefully Nancy will follow up with future books as Jenny becomes a senior. Armin's new life would be of interest. Congratulations to a new author.

A red file for Callan

Entertaining Spy Adventure
Mitchell's stories fall somewhere between the thrillers of Len Deighton and Ian Fleming. Mitchell's government assassins are often flawed men--Callan is a former agent with morality concerns about his assignments. When he's called out of retirement , he meets the man he's to kill and becomes friends with him. All the while, he's under surveillance by his people who wonder why he's not completing the mission. Callan is desperately trying to find out why his victim has been targetted. This is a thrilling espionage story with unusual twists and turns. Dig this one up and savor it.

Magic? What Magic?
If you want to pass the time and remain unchanged, this series is perfect. This writing team, while promising much (they also teach...Writing!?) offer nothing special. I was left slightly annoyed and want to give my children better. Call it partly a sense of loyalty to real writers. There is so much better to be found in the Harry Potter series, Philip K. Dick, even Morgan Llewelyn. Magic? What magic? I've tried a couple of these now and all I can conclude is, shrug, maybe it disappeared.

Good book for young readers
This is the second in 'The circle of magic' series, about a boy named Randal, who is studying to be a wizard. In the first book Randel had broken one of the wizards oldest laws - never to use a sword. Now Randal is a journeyman wizard who is forbidden to use magic. The only way the ban can be lifted is if a certain wizard hermit allows it. So Randel begins his long journey to magic.

A quest, a tournament, and a wizard or two.
It's nice to see a medieval fantasy book where the characters think like medieval people. The only problem is a total lack of religion. No one says anything about faith, even though that was a big part of the medieval mind.

Something Secret about this book!!!!
Stephen Mitchell has been scammed and is not receiveing any money from Dorance Publishing. So if you have any decency in the world and for people like him you will not buy this book. If you can help me help Stephen Mitchell please contact me at Stevejmil@Yahoo.com. Other than this Evil, unwritten chapter, this is a good book. I am only giving 0 stars to the publisher and 5 to the book. Thank You and God Bless you and him.

A Great Book
I have talked to Stephen Mithchell and we really feel like it is a good book. He trying to make a movie based on the book and buying tyhis book would really help on making the movie.

A mish-mash of ideas and themes
As a longtime player of Warhammer Fantasy RolePlay (WFRP) I was very happy to see Hogshead pick up the rights to WFRP after Games Workshop abandoned this great product. This is the first new adventure material produced by Hogshead and while welcome, is not neary as good as some of the older adventures in the Enemy Within campaign (Death on the Reik, Power Behind the Throne).

In this adventure, the players are racing against time to forstall an ancient prophecy about the return of a Daemonic entity in and around the city of Marienburg. The problem is in trying to maintain a coherent storyline when each chapter is being plotted by different authors. In the end, the adventure comes across as a mish-mash of interesting ideas but the coherency is lost. It is still a good book, however, just not great. There is a good balance of investigation and action and would suit pretty much any gaming group.

Gem Trails of Colorado

Gem Trails?
The location descriptions and maps are adequate to actually find the various places in the book. The color photos of the specimens are excellent but often give the rockhound false hopes of what will really be found. I guess my expectations were too high of what could actually be found in Colorado by the casual rockhound. Virtually every site that I have visited that was described in the book has been picked over for multiple decades with good specimens almost nonexistent. Anyone thinking that he/she can just go and get anything like the book's photo specimens is in for disappointment. I've come to the conclusion that the really good sites are never described in books like this.
