First-class treatment of the subject
After finishing this book, it is hard to imagine there can be anything left to say about Charles James Fox. The familiar picture emerges of a politician who didn't have the skills or temperament of Pitt the Younger and hence was in opposition for most of his career. Yet Mitchell also makes two very interesting observations. First, Fox often preferred his private social life to politics. Did he, in fact, spend more time at the race track and at his London club than at the House of Commons? Secondly, Fox was less of a radical than most of his contemporaries thought. He was not, for instance, especially keen on far-reaching parliamentary reform. A big thumbs-up for this biography, not least for quoting verbatim from the strong language of certain original sources!

Best Book for Cat Owners and Cat Owners-To-Be
This book is filled with terrific information for all types of cat owners and cat owners-to-be. The information is detailed but still very simple to understand. The author presents various options of what to do with your cat if your cat takes ill and guides you as to when a visit to the vet is necessary. The best thing about this book is that if you are a new cat owner and you really have no idea what is "normal" for a cat's behavior, this book will calm your nerves. I recommend it to everyone who either owns a cat or is about to. It is filled with valuable information!

Third book in the Callan series
The third book in the Callan series and probably the best. Callan is hired by the department to go to Greece and do a simple job. As you might expect it turns out to be anything but simple but luckily Lonely is there as insurance.

A great read.

Book shows why Neel Reid was one of greatest of the South.
The book gives history and insight on his life and follows his working history from Macon to Florida to Atlanta. His attention to detail is pointed out in many chapters and the photography along with the orginal drawings are a good touch. If your looking for some ideas or maybe a facade to copy this would be a excellent book. Most of his houses are timeless designs and the interior views and elevation views are stunning.

excellent!
i loved this book. my brother stole it from his fifth grade teacher, and i borrowed it to read it. i didn't read any of the ones before it, but that's not important. the story was great! and the characters were wonderful. it is a small book, but the plot can get confusing at parts, but i figured it all out. i would recommend it to anyone to read again and again.

The Random House Encyclopedia
Published in Hardcover by Outlet (September, 1993)
Authors: James Mitchell and Jesschief Stein
Amazon base price: $25.00
Average review score:

The best one volume reference book ever published.
It has been said that an encyclopedia contains a little bit about everything and not much about anything. Never has anything been more true about a single volume work. Containing the world's basic knowledge, the Random House Encyclopedia is a breathtaking collection of over 11,000 color pictures, paintings, photographs, diagrams, illustrations, drawings, maps and charts. Divided into two sections, The "Alphapedia" provides a standard text and black and white photo mini encyclopedia. It also provides a quick factual alphabetic index to the book's better half, the "Colorpedia." It is within the "Colorpedia" section that the Random House editors have created an extraordinary collection of text and images of the world's basic knowledge. Its unique organization by grand themes such as "The Universe," "Man," "History And Culture," "Man and Science", "Man and Machines" makes the spectrum of human knowledge unfold in an entertaining, colorful, and cohesive manner. Each subject, presented in a double page spread, can be read by itself, yet a "connection" section on the page relates to topics that precede and follow. The result is a book that allows you to turn to any page and have your mind receive information in a natural, visual, thematic way. This is simply the best one volume reference book I have ever encountered

Spartacus

Immensely rich
Lewis Grassic Gibbon (or James Leslie Mitchell) has written a novel of Spartacus that is as refreshing as it is clearly one of the forerunners of historical fiction. Opening through the eyes of the eunuch Kleon and his mission to find the heroic leader of the Slaves the novel centers more around Spartacus 'inner circle' and his relationship with Elpinice. Book I is told through Kleon and deals with the period up to the defeat after the Battle of the Lake. Books II and III with Spatracus' victories until we move towards the well-known and inexorable end on the Appian way at the hands of Marcus Licinius Crassus at the end of Book VI. The novel ends as it begins, with Kleon, and his crucifixion
The novel is well written, well-paced and pauses sufficiently to voice greater philospohical views than historical novels of the current generation. It is easy to see why this has been heralded as one of the great novels of its genre.
