A Story of Love and War
Celtic Love is an enchanting 10-story book which revolves around what humans know best -- LOVE. The stories contained in this book are each about the love that a woman and man share, how they come about this love affair, how they are broken apart, and finally how they are brought back together. Lovers are broken apart by war, kidnapping, marriage to another, pride, religion, and/or death. They are brought back together by love and love alone. Sometimes, however, if death does occur, the lovers cannot rekindle their relationship that they once had.

I love this book because it takes you to the world in which the writer, Caitlin Matthews, is in when she writes the book, and to where the lovers are when the plot is taking its place.

One to go back to
A journey through the female psyche by a woman who knows. One can feel the empathy pour from the words in this book; reading it is a revelation, like having a wise old woman take you by the hand and say "This is why... this is the way." Matthews works her way through the many paths of a woman's life, sorting through the hurtful thoughts and inner criticisms that make up the monsters we all carry around in our minds. Effortlessly she unmasks them, making you wonder how you could ever have been fooled, how you could ever have believed a word they said. She shows us how to reach past the lies to find that which loves us - our daimon as she calls it, though others would perhaps refer to it as the Jungian animus. Once found, this daimon, this creative, passionate part of the female soul, sustains us and gives new meaning to our life. A wonderful, inspiring, moving book that you will read again and again.

THE BRIDE OF GOD
The book is loaded with good information regarding the proper role of Sophia in relationship to God and to the earth. Filled to perfection of truths, that one would not have to study further. It is written very well, and very easily understood. It is remarkable how much truth she gathered with the world trying to suppress the female deity of the Godhead. All efforts to abolish the authority of Sophia were defeated upon the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls at Qumran. The writings of Jesus in the "Pistis Sophia", G.R.S.Mead, would never be accepted by churchs because they told the whole world "Jesus never wrote a book". Please read "She Who Is", Elizabeth Johnson, and "Prayers to She Who Is", William Cleary. Also, The Goddess Re-awakening" Shirley Nicholson. Of course, the writings at Qumran are in the book "The Nag Hammadi Library", James Robinson, don't skip the writing "Sophia of Jesus Christ" in this book. The woman Sophia is the Bride of God, only Bride.

A excellent merging of Tarot and storytelling.
A collection of stories inspired by that staple of New Age life, the Tarot Deck. An interesting method of generating story ideas, and the quality of the stories as a whole is fairly high. Of course, as in any collection, some stories outshine others... If you like the Tarot, or are just looking for a collection of Fantasy tales, this book is for you

A Lovely Book
A lovely book- full of wonderful Celtic wisdom. A daily journey all must travel. I also HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book to those people that have been searching for the out-of-print " Celtic Devotional", also by Caitlin Matthews.

Well-Sculpted Daily Meditations
Celtic spirituality is a vast domain, one that cannot truly be pinned down to one expression. Aspects of the Celtic spirit are, no doubt, Pagan in form and essence--involving elements of Druidism, folk "shamanism" and faery lore, while other expressions draw upon the rich tradition of Celtic-Christian mysticism. Woven in and throughout, almost as a kind of binding glue to the traditions, are the bardic traditions of verse, word, and story. Caitlin has done a marvelous job in The Celtic Spirit of expressing a footing in all forms of Celtic spirituality. This little book is an invitation, through the mode of a bardic-contemplative tool, to slow down each day, to meditate on some feature of the vast Celtic spiritual traditions, giving the reader the unmistakable sense that the Celtic spirit is not quarantined to some ancient, inaccessible past, but rather a living stream of inspiration that survives today.

Author comment
This book is written for all who would like a daily touchstone for their own spiritual musings. I originally entitled it 'Meditations on the Druid Path' but that was rejected as not being sufficiently marketable!!! However, most of it stems from my own walking of the Druid path. Drawing upon all aspects of the druidic tradition - from ancient to modern - each day has its own meditation and reader's interaction point where you make the material your own. One of the most important aspects of spiritual life is its habitual, daily patterns which create pathways for the soul's progress. This progress is not 'progressive' in the modern sense, but more eliptical, like Celtic tracery and knotwork which itself is a reflection of the soul's spiralling trajectory. The seasons which accompany our spiritual practice are our allies and companions. Even the most ordinary occurences are material for our meditations. The full sum of our personal experiences open up our soul's path and lead us to form our own philosophy of life. Where Celtic names and titles are mentioned, I have provided pronounciation guides.

There is a real world of fairies. What a great book!
I bought this book (original version)in a New Age store over 10 years ago. I was searching for something I had lost many years ago. As a child, I played daily with garden fairies and tree sprites (I called them). I believe that Dora had a different name for them. I have always known that there are other worlds or dimensions that exist with ours. I believe that people are really capable of multi-dimensional sight over 3-D, but only a very few have crossed over to experience it. I no longer see fairies. I wish I still did. I know they are there.

Reading Dora's book gave me a wonderful feeling of knowing that there were others that feel the same way. She has explained this unexplainable world in such a talented manor. Her clarivoyance is a rare and beautiful gift. I would love to have known her and spent time with her.

Delightful book
Dora Von Gelder Kunz here presents her experience of the world of fairy. In almost anthropological detail she describes different kinds of fairies and the angels that guide them. All the descriptions contain personal anecdotes of the author's own contact with the realm that lies just in the corner of our eyes. Now, of course Von Gelder could be making all this up. If she is, then this work is a startling work of detailed imagination. If she's not, then we would do well to heed her words. Either way, this book is a delightful way to awaken one's wonder of the natural world. Forget "science" for a moment, and open your heart.

Believing is Seeing....
For a long time, I've recommended this book, especially for those who believe fairies can be seen. The forward of my 1977 edition begins by saying "...the borderline between the 'transcendental world' and the concrete world is less definite and stable than you think. The term real world has no validity." It's an opener that gets your attention, and the rest of this excellent book does the same.

In her book, Van Gelder discusses the importance and fallibility of senses writing "...the desire to know sooner or later creates the necessary organs and instruments of knowledge." Through her animistic view, she sees fairies and writes of the clairvoyance that is needed to view them and the world in which they live. She acknowledges that part of the reason fairies are rarely seen is that few people try once they are grown up.

Van Gelder describes devas, elementals and angels, writing that while we live in a world of form, "...they live in a world of life." Her descriptions are clear and vivid as she describes a world in which everything is alive and expressed in rhythm.

She also gives insight into the world of plants and trees, water spirits, and the inter-relatedness of earth, sea and sky, which she maintains is watched over by a higher form, angels. As a person with clairvoyance, her descriptions of communication with angels are fascinating, saying that they give her "...a great number of mental pictures combined with feeling. There is only one difficulty in communicating with an angel. What he considers to be one idea to us is about twenty, and thus it takes a long time to digest what he expresses."

The most fascinating part of her book is her description of storm devas and the energetic work that takes place in an area as a storm grows. She describes a feeling that many of us perceive as the weather changes and clouds begin to build.

While at first glance, her ideas may seem strange and fantastical, it is easy to intuit the truth within her words.

I don't profess to see fairies, but I learned a lot from Van Gelder's brilliant depictions and much of it mirrors my intuitive beliefs. I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in clairvoyance, communication with nature spirits, or angelic/devic hierarchies. Seeing is believing, but to paraphrase the author, believing is can be seeing as well.
