Learn How to Sell Anything
This is a great book for anyone who wants to learn how to sell. If you're a veteran salesman, this is a great review of everything you're supposed to know, and more. Whiting's ideas in this book are the basis for The Dale Carnegie Sales Course (also highly recommended). The discussion ranges from how to get favorable attention of your prospect, through the close of the sale. Includes information on overcoming objections, pre-approach, goal setting, showmanship, and time management. Great book!

The age of Keats and Shelley

The Age of Keats and Shelley: A review
Coombs provides an informative and inspiring insight into not only the works of Keats and Shelley but also the Romantic movement as a whole. She strikes a good balance between history, the lives of the authors and a study their works, both major and minor, which serves as a starter for the relatively novice student and as desert for the better nourished reader. This is a must have for any student of the Romantic genre, and it is a great pity that this book is no longer in print.

In the tradition of Byron and Stoker
I love vampire literature and movies, and there is quite a lot in that subgenre, but much of it is bad. And I love poetry. And i love literature and literary theory. But to be honest, I didn't expect much out of Paul Lake's novel. It calls itself a _literary_ vampire mystery, which is a bit pretentious (and Lake is known as a critic an poet, not a fiction writer). I thought anything that bills itself as a literary vampire story...well, let's just say I didn't expect much out of it. And pleasantly, I was surprised (though I shouldn't have been, Lake writes well-done and interesting essays, and he has a knack for the narrative poem, so I know he can tell a good story). It's a well written story with believable characters (half the fun is guessing who the characters are in real life--and believe me, you can recognize many of the poets within) and a well thought out plot. It even has a nice twisted surprise ending. The only gripe I have is that Lake spends too much time complaining about the state of contemporary poetry and how our poets are 'treated' (sometimes I got the impression that he only wrote the novel so he could complain about what all poets already know..and already comlain about). Other than that you get an interesting story that blends poetry, criticism, literary history, and vampires into a great novel (had one of the big publishing companies released this book instead of Story Line Press, more people might be familiar with the book, but unfortunately Story Line, great press that it is, has never had the money to set forth much of an advertising or publicity campaign).

Autobiographical Sketches & Recollections
Published in Library Binding by Reprint Services Corp (1991)
Authors: Theodore Clapp and Walter Percy Chrysler

A lesser-known automaker writes his autobiography
Everyone knows about Henry Ford and his Model T. Many know of William Crapo Durant and his creation, the colossial General Motors Corporation. Romanced today are the stories of the Stanley brothers and their steamer and the Studebakers and their cars. But few know of the man who established the Chrysler Corporation from the ruins of the Maxwell-Chambers Auto Works, then bought out the much larger Dodge Brothers Motor Co. This book is a must-read for automotive enthusiasts. Walter Chrysler writes an anecdotal and easy-reading autobiography. He doesn't waste time defending himself against any rumors that may have persisted about him at the time of its writing. He doesn't needlessly spill ink on accusations of others. He merely tells his story about growing up, working on the railroads, turning around financially strapped American Locomotive, hired by Durant to turn Buick's fortunes around, then hired by the bancruptcy trustees to save Maxwell-Chambers. Soon, the cars this company put out bore Chrysler's own name and the rest is history. Chrysler writes about his belief that Research and Development are the vital elements to the success of any company (a section every corporate officer should read today). He also talks about the plans to build the Chrysler Building and, even, making his children work their way up in the company starting at the bottom--no doubt teaching his children that every job has a function and every individual has dignity and value. The best anecdote that Walter Chrysler tells is how he drove his first car--but I'll let you read that for yourself!

A choice of Shelley's verse

Shelley cannot be summarized
When I discovered Shelley at the age of 15, a whole world opened up for me. I had no idea that poetry could be so passionate, so beautiful and so intensely felt. Shelley puts himself totally into his poetry, and when you read it you enter the mind of one the most original and intellectual poets of the nineteenth century. the way to read Shelley is to let yourself luxuriate in his imagery and above all not to treat him with detachment. Shelley's power and joy in life and his struggle against the oppression of the poor are truly inspirational. But read it, don't take my word for it.

Excellent for this upcoming Summer Olympics
Elympics is a wonderful book that any child would enjoy. I am a first grade teacher and this book has been very useful in explaining to my students about the 2000 Olympics. The Elephant goes through all the different events that will take place this year by using poetry to express himself. This book is fun as well as educational.
