Wonderful sequel to 'Tears Like the Rain'...
This is the 2nd book in the trilogy 'Trails West'. The first being 'Tears Like the Rain' and the 3rd being 'Sierra'. This, 'Wind Rider', is the powerful love story between Windrider and Hannah McLin. Hannah is an indentured servant to an abusive man. She escapes him only to run into a Cheyenne warrior named Windrider. She saves his life from certain death in exchange for being set free, but Fate steps in and she is his prisoner. Windrider is a white Indian, brought to the Cheyenne when he was little with his sister Abby (Tears Like the Rain). They were raised like Cheyenne and given names like the Cheyenne. He soon falls in love with Hannah, but so much turbulance is happening during this time period (1864), and the Cheyenne and Sioux are rallying to fight the whites from settling the frontier. They are soon torn apart and thrust into worlds they are unfamilar with. It's a wonderful story of courage and love and brought tears to my eyes many times. Windrider is also known as Ryder Larson, a white indian living amongst the Cheyenne as a Cheyenne Warrior who had rivaled the most feirce of the warriors. Connie Mason never disapoints and brings to life a great story. It's definately worth a read.

Very Good, Emotional
Matt married Lily for money and never denied it. Lily being shunned by her Father when he wanted to marry a woman who didn't want her around. I got so mad at both of them neither would admit they loved the other until they both thought that they has lost the other. As always you feel as though you are right there living the story with the characters. Very good Story.

Connie Mason at her BEST!
I loved this story and couldn't take myself from it from the very start. It's the kind of story, Ms. Mason is known for. Passionate and real characters with the backdrop of the American Revolution behind their story of learning to trust and love one another.

Matt is the American cousin of English nobility. He is invited to the coming-out ball of young and vivacious Lily Montage, given to by her father who wants to make peace with his bride-to-be by getting his daughter married and out of the house.

Matt had made it no secret that he was only marrying Lily for her inheritance so that he can arm his ships to go back to war with England.

Through a tale of mistrust and deception (on the part of Matt's former mistress) and being shipwrecked on a deserted island, Matt and Lily learn to love with their bodies before they find the love in their hearts that has always been there from the start.

A wonderful, fast paced read, don't miss this book!

I loved it!
I have quickly become a Connie Mason fan. This was a great romance filled with lots of passion. For the first half of the book I found Lily quite annoying. She loved Matt's love making but then would accuse him of using her. The lack of trust between the two of them caused them a lot of problems. I was anxious for Matt to finally admit that he truly loved Lily. I read this book in a day. I didn't want to put it down. Great read, Ms. Mason!

THE OUTLAWS:RAFE BY CONNIE MASON.
I JUST LOVED THIS BOOK. IT TOOK AWHILE FOR RAFE TO LEARN THAT NOT ONLY HE NEEDED ANGELA,BUT LOVED HER AS WELL.I CAN NOT WAIT FOR THE NEXT INSTALLMENT ON HIS BROTHER JESSE. I KNOW IT WILL BE AS GOOD AS THIS ONE I REALLY LOVE WHAT CONNIE WRITES.THEY ARE REALLY THE BEST . I LOVED HER AUSSIE SERIES AS WELL AS THE PIRATE AND THE BLACK KNIGHT.

What a great book
I have read close to all Connie Mason's books and "The Outlaw Rafe" is by far one of the best. The books touches on emotions and feelings from the main characters and makes you feel like it happened in front of you. Rafe learns that he needs to be able to trust others. Angela learns that not everyone is as though they seem. This book was great. I read it in one weekend.

Another Keeper From Connie Mason!
An outlaw about to meet his maker and an angel on the run - Rafe Gentry and Angela Abbot soon find themselves bound by a marriage of convenience. Angela, left with a sizeable inheritance and partial ownership of a gold mine in Colorado, heads west to escape her greedy step-father turned guardian and the equally greedy man he has selected to be her husband. Rafe, charged with crimes he didn't commit, plays along with Angela's claim that he is her fiancé in an attempt to save him from hanging. Together, Angela and Rafe must turn their marriage of convenience into one of love, but first they must discover the truth and prove Rafe's innocence before the law catches up with them. But will their quest for the truth leave them both dead?

"The Outlaws: Rafe" is a brilliantly written and captivating page-turner filled with delightful characters. The first of a 3 part series, I'll be eagerly awaiting Jess's and Sam's stories in the coming months. I'll gladly give up a night's sleep for a Connie Mason novel. This is one for the keeper shelf!

Smooth Romance Candy! You Go Connie :)
Connie Mason transports us back to Northeast Wales, 1258. While engaged in a battle and storming Cragdom Lionheart (Lionel de Couer) first sees the "White Knight". Enraged by the arrogance and sophistication of the White Knight's demeanor in battle, Lionheart dedicates himself to tracking down this knight and making him pay for besting him and his men on the battle field.
As he takes over Cragdom he is greeted by the Vanora, lady of the Castle. She is a stunning beauty with a confident air that he is unused to when dealing with women. He finds himself captivated, in fact driven to complete blind lust in his pursuit to bed her. Finding himself suddenly married by a Priest who demands that he make his bond with Vanora official before bedding her, makes for all sorts of interesting adventures.

The introduction of his former mistress Althea is entertaining and fun. Watching Lionheart squirm as he juggles his wife and former lover makes for some awkward moments.

Throughout the story, Vanora continues her disguise as the White Knight as her loyalty to her castle men drives her to warn them of Lionheart's pursuit of them. When Lionheart finds out, he is furious. What comes next, you'll have to read the book to see!

Connie Mason's story of love touches a chord, though this book is not far from the beaten path Connie writes, it is still one I enjoy taking. Ms. Mason's writing style is always smooth, the story always entertaining, and the hero and heroine ones you seek when reading a romance.

I have yet to read a Connie Mason book I have not enjoyed. Perhaps that is the sign of a masterful writer...

fast-paced medieval romance
In the middle thirteenth century, Lionheart, as a good loyal soldier, follows orders to lead his men on an assault of the Welsh stronghold Cragdon Castle. Leading the opposition is a slim young warrior who looks too young to shave, but shows courage, skill, and audacious before realizing the impossibility of the task at defending the keep. Lionheart plans to capture the White Knight, but as he and his men rush into the castle, his elusive foe is gone.

Instead of a warrior ready to duel to the death, the beautiful Vanora greets Lionheart. It is unbelievable to this warrior who has conquered many an enemy on the battlefield that he loses his renowned calm and wants Vanora in his bed. To have her means to marry her, which both reluctantly accept. However, he may be under her spell, but using his brain he knows she hides something from him.

The theme of the beastly male who knows not of love and the intrepid female willing to take up arms for a worthy cause has starred as the theme of many a romance novel. Connie Mason uses that motif to provide her myriad of fans with a delightfully battle of wits, loyalty, and ardor through two cherished lead protagonists. The medieval era story line never slows down as LIONHEART and Vanora struggle between an attraction loyalty growing into love and conflicting patriotism.

When I first heard about this book I actually thought that it wouldn't be that good. But I read the reviews on this site and I said to myself, 'Natalie this is connie mason your talking about here. You've read most of her books so buy it and read it'. I am so glad I listened to my self and spent the money for this book.

This book is one of her best. Like always connies books intrigue you from the very beiginning. Her hero makes you wish that he is conected to you in some way and the heroin makes you want to be her.

Connie Mason is a spectacular writer and if You ever come across Lionheart in a book store, buy it because it is fantastic.

A great romantic adventure!
I thought this book was a nice, relaxing read. It is about Drake, a young boy who falls in love with a young game-playing girl whose younger sister, Raven, is secretly in love with him. He plans to elope with Raven's sister, but the girl's father finds out and stops them from eloping. Drake blames Raven, ignoring her pleas of innocence and he is banned from the town. 12 years later, he is back, as a powerful knight, ready to fight for money. And that is where he finds Raven, all grown up and beautiful, betrothed to his hateful and viscious enemy. I cannot tell you anything else. I thought this book was an adventurous read, once in awhile causing you to hold your breath. The chracters are radiant, even the loyal friends of Drake light up the pages. This was my first Connie Mason book, and I was not disappointed.

The Black Knight
This is the first book I've purchased and read by Connie Mason. I must say I was immediately drawn into the story. As my first love is historical romance, and what a tale Ms. Mason wove.

The plot was exiciting and kept me on edge, trying to figure out what was going to happen next. The character's made you feel as if you were living each moment with them. What I wouldn't give to have a "Black Knight", rescue me.

Oh, and the villian, did I love to hate him? I found myself talking to victim's trying to warn them. Once I picked this book up, I couldn' put it down. Ms. Mason is right up there with my all time favorite writer's: Bertice Small, Virginia Henley, & Julie Garwood.

When you have writer's that can bring the past to life and make you feel as if your right there, then you've given the reader a gift. Also not to mention all the history you learn. "God bless each and everyone of these writer's".

Connie Mason NEVER Disappoints!
Betrayed by the sister of the woman he loved, Drake has spent years hardening his heart against women like Raven of Chirk. But now, known far and wide as The Black Knight, Drake has returned to Castle Chirk to compete in a tournament. Little did he know the tournament was in honor of the impending wedding of Raven and Drake's half-brother, Waldo.

Still burning from Raven's childhood betrayal, Drake refuses to help Raven escape her unwanted marriage to Waldo. But Drake's revenge upon Waldo puts him and Raven on the run together. As the danger grows, so too does their passion. Can Drake risk his heart to the woman who betrayed him all those years ago? How could Drake possibly have a future with Raven when she is legally wed to another man? And will Drake and Raven live long enough to see the face of their unborn child?

Connie Mason's "The Black Knight" is one terrific read! Her characters are richly drawn with real motivations and weaknesses and her writing is captivating. "The Black Knight" is worth staying up all night to read! One for the keeper shelf.

Yummy!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. There was excitement, danger, lust and love. It kept me on the edge of my seat for most of the book. I enjoyed how Zara was a powerful woman and not a bubble-headed heroin. She was strong in her convictions and did not sway in her loyalties to her people. Sheik Jamal was a brave fighter with a sensitive side that just made me want to be able to reach out and console him during the more stressful moments in the book. Oh, who am I kidding! I wanted to reach out and touch him throughout the entire book. I found the sex scenes to be very erotic but not overdone. I have never read a Connie Mason book before but I will be looking for her other books. I enjoyed the follow-through and cohesiveness of her story telling. I also enjoyed the historical information provided in the book not to mention the nice glossary of terms in the back. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good love story.

4 1/2 Stars for an interesting journey through the desert...
A classic love story between two people who were born of very different worlds and are thrown together and then torn apart.
A Princess and a Sheik.

Morocco 1673,
Raised a Berber warrior to fight at her father's side, Princess Zara was taught to fight the blood thirsty Arabs who stole her people's land.
In a simple, but effective raid one night in the desert, Zara was taken prisoner to be used as a bargaining chip against her father, the cadi of the tribe. Her captor? Sheik Jamal abd Thabit; the sultan's favorite warrior.
Sent to destroy the 'blue men' as they were called, the wandering desert nomads who struck fear into the hearts of many Arabs eluded the powerful sultan for too long. Jamal was determined to catch them, but failed he did, until he caught the princess and vowed to deliver her instead to the sultan. He didn't wager he'd fall in love with the headstrong woman or that he risk everything including his life for her either.
A richly told tale of love, power and desperation that only Ms Mason can tell. Through the burning sands of Morocco to the marketplaces of a distant time and place, love finds a way.

It definitely took my breath away....
Right from the time I saw the front cover. Ok, someone was reading the story sitting by the pool and I fell for the picture.

One thing I enjoyed about this book is that Ms. Mason is not an average romance writer. I have read several of her books, like Bold Land, Bold Love and was pleasantly surprised with Sheik and the other because the females in these books were headstrong.

I actually expected Zara to inflict more harm on her master than just injure his pride emotionally. Hey, the woman had plans, you can't fault her for that!In order to gain what she desired, she had to "bargain" with the man who held her fate in his hands. As a Berber and a female, she was underestimated by Jamaal. I enjoyed it when they sparred with each other. Of course, the almond milk scene was funny too.

Jamaal was playing with fire. He knew that he should turn the troublesome Berber leader and his beautiful daughter, Zara, over to the Sultan to stay in his good graces. Irrational behavior and thought seized him when he saw her curves, and felt the softness of her skin under the blue robes.

This book has many interesting twists and turns, which also made Sheik a wonderful read. Be prepared to get swept away by the words on the books pages!

First book in the 'Trails West Trilogy'...
This was the first book in the Trails West trilogy including, WIND RIDER, & SIERRA. Its the romantic tale of a woman named Tears Like Rain by the Cheyenne who is white and was found along with her white brother Wind Rider, wandering aimlessly around the wreckage of their dead parents wagons after a brutal Crow Indian attack.

Tears Like Rain never thinks of returning to the white world of her birth until a calvary officer with blonde hair and stunning blue eyes is captured and tortured in her camp. She is somehow captivated by his beauty and kindness shining in his eyes. She must help him. She takes him as her slave and wonders what she will do with him now!

Zach Mercer never dreamed he would be taken prisoner by a wild group of Indians within his first few months of being out west! On his first ride out to the praires investigating attacks on settlers no less! Was this to be his fate? To die in the savage hands of blood thristy Cheyenne warriors? Then he would gladly die with pride and not be a coward. Just as he resigns himself to die, a beautiful maiden with long dark hair and strange gray eyes watches him from a distance with intrest. Was she white? What in the world was she doing in this camp of savages?

Zach is furthermore in awe when it seems as if the beautiful maiden has made for his release, but finds himself her slave instead! A slave of a woman!? Soon Zach shows Tears Like Rain that he is slave to no one, not even a gorgeous woman who pretends she is Cheyenne. His curiosity also discovers she IS white and so is her powerful brother Wind Rider! When more questions arise about how she ended up in the camp, Zach finds himself falling in love with the strange woman and vows to take her away.

In a time when the settlers are demanding more and more land from the government, the once proud Cheyenne and Sioux are having to face starvation and death if they don't comply. Tears Like Rain realizes she is a woman named Abby Larson from times gone by, but she refuses to leave her people to save herself from certain death by fighting alongside the Cheyenne and Sioux against the American government, but she has no choice.

Abby soon finds herself in a strange world of faces she doesn't recognize and people who are the same skin color but sneer at her as if she were some animal. She longs for her own People once again, but her love for Zach blossoms out of control and she must choose. What of her brother? What of her missing little sister Sierra? Sierra was never found when the wagons were attacked, was she dead? Abby is determined to solve all her problems, but she doesn't have time. Time is running out for the Cheyenne.

This story is jampacked with action and history of the Sand Creek Massacre and the downfall of the Cheyenne. As always Connie Mason delivers a solid story of courage and love that surpases all colors and boundries. The love between Abby and Zach is touching and sometimes heartbreaking. This is a sure keeper and a great start to the trilogy, followed by her brother's story WIND RIDER and their missing sister's story SIERRA.

X- rated
Of all the books that I have read about Indian's this one was hot and heavy in the love scenes such details took you right their you could actually feel the warmth and the love that they felt for each other, Now I will have to search for Book two and 3 of the sage of Tears of Rain (Abbey) I really felt she was from the Indiana world that is where her happiness was felt at. this is the first one of I read dealing with the Cheyenne I really enjoyed it all.

Enchanting, Tear Jerker, Great Book
The first of 3, Abbey being Raised by Indians along with her Brother Ryder, Save Zach from being killed by the tribe. thinking that she wants him for her slave. Zach has other ideas and wins the respect of the tribe when he helps fight off the Crow. Knowing that Tears Like Rain and WindRider are both white he talks the Chief into letting her go back with him. They have their hard times, but love wins out.

great, but.....
I love connie mason for her sizzling but tasteful stories that never leave me wanting. Her fiesty characters, passionate stories and involved plots always bring me back for her next book. "Ice and Rapture" was a good read though I got more than one curious look at the bodice ripper cover. Standing alone the book was a very nice read but compared to the rest of the her work it seemed to fall below her usually standards.

The story of Maggie Afton, a self proclaimed spinster at the ripe old age of 25 and a reporter, and Chase McGarret, a cowboy seeking gold in the klondike rush of the late 19th century was an intriguing one. It would have been easy for Mason to spin off on tangent after tangent on the numerous other characters that were just as colorful as the hero and herione but instead she always manages to brings the story back. When Maggie and Chase end up partnered together to make it to the Klondike goldfields sparks fly and a great story emerges. This tale travels across two years and from Alaska to Oregon to Montana but without the reader feeling overwhelmed.

That said... I had a few complaints about this book. There were so many misunderstandings between maggie and chase, that were really same scene being played out over and over again with a bit of variance. I literally threw down the book a few times screaming "again?! They are doing this again?" What I mean is chase keeps assuming Maggie is having an affair with one person or another, usually a secondary character named Scott Gordon. This jealous mistake scene is expected, once or even twice in a story, and can enhance a story but by the fourth time I was over the jealous lover bit and waiting for something new to happen.

Also there are a number of annoying secondary characters that are there solely to "tempt" the main characters but end up just making the story drag. This is most apparent in the mountie Scott Gordon and Chase's housemate, Virgie. Both go after the hero(or herione) purposely or not ending up wrecking chase's and maggie's relationship several times.

I personally wanted to punch virgie several times. This is all well and good, who doesn't like a nasty villian you can hate? But mason's conclusion with virgie miraclous and sudden about face and repentence was so unbelievable I felt cheated. A self serving, spoiled, brat who purposely tried to tear our hero and herione apart constantly suddenly becomes good? yeah right.

aside from that i actually liked this book. no really. the love scenes are fantastic. Aside from the first one that seemed odd because it just happened. There was little build up, but I can forgive that in the face of the rest of the book. Chase and Maggie are both head strong and if their story does seem a little unbelievable most of that is just the fantasy of romance novels.

so check this book out for a light read on some rainy afternoon but for something with a little more meat check out some of mason's other works.

EXCELLENT READING
I own a lot of Connie Mason books and this is one of my favorites. Its full of Adventure and Romance. Like most of Ms. Masons' books her love scenes sizzle. If your looking for a book that you will enjoy read this story of Maggie and Chase and you will love it just like I did.

Sizzling Romance
This story is about Maggie , a 25 year old independent woman who is a newspaper reporter in 1897, in the days where women reporters were rare. She wants to do big in life and decides to go to Alasca, to report on the Klodnike gold rush. On the ship to Alaska she meets Chase,a brash cowboy who also wants to build his furtune. Fiery sparks fly as soon as the two meet. The two are complete studies of opposites. Maggie is cool, and reserved while Chase is hot and brash, and sure of himself.

Even though Maggie detests Chase at first because of his outrageous behaviour towards, (he does not hide his fierce attraction to her), she has to resort for his help when she decides she wnts to cross the Yukon to report on the Klondike gold rush -he is the only one who can take her there. The journey there is full of peril and the adventures these two pass throughout the whole book are numerous and awesome. The thrills keep on going until the very end of the book

If you like sizzly hot romance and lots of adventure than this is the perfect buy for you. I think this is one of the best Connie Mason books - actually quite detailed and sparkling dialogue with some humour scenes too.

Okay
This book was entirely to long. I like the sex scenes but I think there were to many. I usually like Connie Mason books especially "The Black Knight". This one not so good.

First and Best
I am a really big fan of Connie Mason. This was the first Connie Mason book that I read and I loved it so much, I decided to purchase everyone that she had ever written. I haven't been disappointed yet!

My favorite Connie Mason book!
This was the first Connie Mason book I ever read, and I always find myself coming back to it. This book throroughly entertains the reader from start to finish. The sex scenes are hot, and the plot keeps right on moving.

I even lent this book to a doubtful male friend of mine, who scoffed at me for reading romance novels. I challenged him to read this book. If he thought it was stupid, he could feel free to mock me for the rest of my life, BUT if he liked it, he could never tease me again for reading "fluff". He confessed that even HE got aroused reading the sex scenes, and he enjoyed the book so much, he asked me for another. Any author who can entice a man to read these romance novels (which are usually written by women, for women) is extremely talented! It's hard to go wrong with Connie Mason.
