This book is a great teaching tool for kids.
The analogies used in this book is a great way for children to understand that they should always be the best in whatever they do. As a third grade teacher, I used this book to help teach analogies. The students really enjoyed adding on to the book. We created our own version. What great reading it makes!

An Out of this World Experience.....
Do you know how old the universe is, why our galaxy is called the Milky Way, or why Venus is the smartest planet in the night sky? Do you know how far away outer space really is, if you could stand on Jupiter, or catch a shooting star? The answer to these and many other similar questions, can be found in Kenneth Davis' marvelous, fact filled, Don't Know Much About the Solar System. This is a book chock full of interesting information, fun facts and trivia and history about the universe, galaxy, solar system, planets, moons, asteroids, meteoroids, comets, stars, space exploration and astronomy. Mr Davis' text is written in an easy to read, question and answer, conversational style and complemented by Pedro Martin's humorous and engaging illustrations, that just add to the fun. Perfect for youngsters 8-12, Don't Know Much About the Solar System whets the appetite and leaves kids running to the library for more. So find out if there are aliens living on Mars, and enjoy!
Don't Touch That Baby! and Other Stories for Christian Youth

Emotional stories for young readers
This collection of short stories has appeal to a wide range of ages. Some of the stories (such as "Don't Touch That Baby") are easily understood by very young children, while others can be fully appreciated only by those who are older. I am a second grade teacher at a Christian School, and my students beg me to read them stories from this book. "Don't Touch That Baby," the tale of a crippled orphan who has discovered Jesus through reading the Bible on her own, remains their favorite, and they cry when they hear it read aloud. This book is not only entertaining, it can be used as a tool to teach wonderful principles to young Christians. It contains stories of self-sacrifice and characters with a deep devotion to God which helps them to overcome divers temptations in numerous ways. Children so easily relate to many of the characters, and I would recommend it to any parent who wishes to teach his/her child the basic principles of the Bible.

A well written text for professionals and parents.
Learning Disabilities Explained is just what the doctor ordered. This volume brings a new level of understanding to a very complex problem.A clear presentation of the major problems, with sources of help and answers to some of the more common questions are provided. While the material is presented in sufficient depth to satisfy the needs of professionals in the field, it is written in a manner which addresses the needs of parents for "plain english" explanations.

Don Martin at his maddest!
"Don Martin Bounces Back", first published in 1963, continues the misadventures of Fester Bestertester and his hulking, pea-brained pal Karbunkle (created by Martin a year earlier in "Don Martin Steps Out"). All of their stories are funny, but "National Gorilla Suit Day" tops them all (and everything else the artist did for MAD from 1956 to 1987); it became the favorite of MAD publisher William M. Gaines.

Don Martin's comedy deserves eternal reverance.
I love don Martin. Unfortunatually my copy of this book is so worn that it is dangerious to read. It is saddening that his books are not more readily avialable.

It's like a virtual motorcyle trip.
This books gives some pretty cool descriptions on different areas in the Southwest including Southwestern Colorado. My husband and I are familiar with the Colorado chapter and it was as though we were going through it again. Except it was in words and in our minds. My husband is going to take the recommendations and ride from the Chicago Area to the Taos New Mexico area. I will follow 2 days behind him with kids in tow. The author also provides valuable information on watering holes as well as places to eat. In desert areas you want to be prepared as to where the last gas station is. The author also gives explicit details on road conditions which makes the trip a lot easier to palette knowing where the "bad" spots are. Either you choose to ride gingerly through it or go around. I highly recommend this book. It's a good read and it contains lots of valuable information.

A realistic look at Tent Show Circus life behind the scenes
As a former Circus Clown who traveled with a "Mud Show" in the late 1970's, I have read many books on the subject. None of them capture the true sense, and feeling of what is was like in the "back yard" of a tent show as this one does. It brought back many memories, some good and some bad. So if you are looking for a true and complete picture of what it is like to run away and join the Circus from behind the scenes, then this is the book for you.

Extremely Helpful and Informative!
I used this as my main reference book on a trip to Oregon last summer (1998). The info was current, easily understandable, directions were very accurate. I loved the list of radio stations at the end of each chapter - it eliminates searching around the dial while you drive. And I contacted cities from the list of Chambers of Commerce and received a lot of additional helpful info. The best recommendation that I can give is that I'm headed for California this summer and the Martin's book is at the top of my short list of books to buy! PS - There is a 1999 update available now.

Good racing book.
I found "Think to Win" to be a great help in identifying and understanding areas of my racing that I didn't even know existed! I am positive that I am a better driver than I was before I read it. In fact, I read it every year before the season starts!
