After reading this, you'll NEVER wonder "Who's That Girl?"
Who's That Girl? If you don't have a clue, buy this book and you'll never wonder again! Michael D. Craig knows his stuff, and the facts in this book are top-notch. Whether you're a casual Madonna fan or a rabid completist (like myself), you will gain boat loads of knowledge about the Queen of Pop, and you will NOT be dissapointed. You have my personal guaruntee! And I have to plug Michael's other book of 80's trivia: The Totally Awesome 80s TV Trivia Book. Another GREAT book full of GREAT info!
MadonnaRama!
Being an ardent fan of Madonna, I had to purchase this book. I'm not disappointed. It's a fun book full of facts that any and all die hard Madonna fans SHOULD know. I would recommend this book to anyone that loves and respects Madonna. Buy this book along with Matthew Rettenmund's ENCYCLOPEDIA MADONNICA and you will know truly everything there is to know about Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone.

Read Now, Say Later: I Read Him When He Used To Be Unknown
Canada's Michael V. Smith, Ireland's Colm Toibin, Russia's Chekhov. It's hard to imagine the three of them conversing over toast at breakfast. But the books of these writers would cozy up quite comfortable on your shelf.
Ideally, "Cumberland" would have a cover of flannel. It wraps its characters in care as it gently opens their hearts to our view. And like any open heart surgery, there is the hope of a better life after, and the constant forboding of terrible consequences.
A darn good read.

great reader, great novel
I bought the novel after hearing Michael Smith read at a Toronto event. What an incredible reader - he was honest, spontaneous, and moving. It was interesting how all segments of the audience (all kinds of people) were engaged. Smith breaks down a lot of social divisions - warmly and effortlessly. Cumberland is much the same. An honest portrayal of lives you often don't hear about, in a smallish town. Eye-opening, and very *caring*. You can't help but enjoy reading this, and up feeling very close to some people you might not normally meet in your daily life.

An authentic work, the author really knows the subject well
This book will serve the sincere student of Qabala and Tarot for many years. The Tarot illustrations are very poor, but the student should have their own deck anyway. The book summarises many years of training in a single volume. Packed with no non-sense technical content but the real reason to buy this book are for the excellent meditations and exercises. A MUST HAVE.

Chuck Yeager
This is a great book for kids. Chuck Yeager is the type of role model more young people should aspire to be like. He's a true American Hero. The author does a good job of presenting him as a real American success story, too. Rising from humble roots to become a legend, Yeager is an inspiration!

Mother God
In our society, God is typically portrayed as male. What we tend to ignore is that God is indefinable, a mystery, and not a specific gender. "Heart Talks..." gives us another viewpoint of God- the feminine, nurturing side of God that loves us no matter what-like a mother or grandmother. Beautifully illustrated, the book has 10 Bible-Based prayer stories: "God Birthing the World" (Genesis1:1); "Mother God Watches Over You" (not even one sparrow will fall without God knowing it. Matthew 6:26); "Grandmother God" (Psalm 128:5-6). The adults' preparation guide gives suggestions for making these stories more meaningful for childen- related play activities, questions for reflection and sharing of feelings. Children are invited to jump up in Mother God's lap as she tells them a story from her wonderful book the Bible. As the story and reflection come to a close, they are invited to give Mother God a hug and whisper "I'll be back" as they slide off Her lap. This is a nurturing and comforting book for adults as well. "I'll be back, too".

Wonderful introduction to the Texas Hill Country
This book is truly a collection of treasures. Some of the most interesting people, including musicians, artists, craftspeople, magicians and just plain caring folks can be found in the Texas Hill Country and this book is a great introduction to these people. The Texas Hill Country also has wonderful parks and natural areas, zoos, museums, churches with breathtaking views, chili cooksoffs market days and even a real castle. Mr. Kimball and all the contributing writers show a great interest and love for these places and reading about them makes you wish you were there. I especially like the updates at the end of the features, it gives you a feel of where this person was and where they are now and eliminates the questions often asked, "I wonder what they're doing now?". I highly recommend this book if you are even thinking about heading for the Texas Hill Country.

An enlightening look at 'harmless' fairy tales.
I read this book in 1981, after reading a rave review in Mademoiselle magazine. I was 18 years old and altogether uncertain what being a woman meant, and would come to mean to me. This book was incredibly enlightening with regard to the 'warnings' that society sends young women about the punishment one is certain to suffer for behaving in an unladylike fashion. Little Red Riding Hood teaches us not to go out alone, and that if a Big Bad Wolf eats us, or those we love, it is probably our own fault because WE misbehaved. Sleeping Beauty is virginal perfection, her life only begins after her prince awakens her with a kiss. After all, what kind of life could a lady hope to have WITHOUT her prince??? I leant it to a friend and haven't seen it since, I placed an order with amazon and am hoping for the best!
