HOLIDAY HONEYMOONS - THANKSGIVING!
Another not to be passed up.
Lucy Falco the owner of Gullivers Travels is back again -- with Thanksgiving bookings. They have put together a honeymoon package for Abigail Davis's sister at The Pines Resort.

Abby Davis, a young estate appraiser and antique dealer had recently redecorated Lucy's office. "Poor Abby" had her sisters' wedding sprung on her less than a week ago and all of the arrangements dumped in her lap.

"This is one honeymoon the bride and groom will never forget".

When Abby's flighty sister decided she couldn't go through with the wedding Abby reluctantly agreed to give the groom-to-be the bad news.

Yikes! but who should show up but the groom-to be's best man, Pete O'Brian. Pete, assuming Abby to be the jilted bride, greeted her with a kiss. Talk about your holiday surprises!

The next two holidays, Christmas and New Years, belong to Carole Buck -- look for them and then M. Lovelace is back for Valentine's Day -- great way to spend the holidays -- on someone else's honeymoon. [grin] [look at the cover - my guy is back again]see if you can count his covers.

Simply nothing
Definitely is not the best book, this book goes out of the story so many times that you almost forget the story.
In the middle of the book, if not before, you know that Alex is the bad guy, why can't see this Jo if she is one of the bests pilots of the USAF?
I can give other examples but I will tell you the story of this book (that I don't recommend at all.)
The worst part of the book is that you will not take anything if you read it, no lessons, no messages, no nothing.

Dissapointing
I was very excited about reading this book. I have been looking for books with suspense and romance combined and I hoped that this one would be better than it was. First, I didn't like how most of the story was told from Jo's point of view. I like books where there are the main characters and sometimes the pov from the secondary characters as well. I felt that the story would have been better if the reader would have understood where Alex was coming from. At the beginning of the book he seemed like a sweet and caring guy, if a little intense. That's what most readers like in a hero though, and at first you got intense with Alex. Then he got creepy. Not creepy enough in my opinion. At the end of the book I still wished that someone could have helped Alex.

I really wouldn't recommend this book. It was a fast read, but again, it was very dissapointing.

Another excellent adventure from Merline Lovelace
This tale continues the story of Jo West, the helicopter pilot who saved Carly Samuels and Ryan McMann in a previous book (I can't remember the title). Unlike some of the other reviews, I thought this was an fascinating story because the "knight in shining armor" is NOT. Jo stays in character as a "I can take care of myself in a male-dominated occupation." She even acknowledges that you have to play by the unspoken rules (as she observes in the pilot ready room) to get ahead. I only wish that the book had another chapter. Was Deke able to recover and return to active duty? What else motivated Alex to be the way he was?

not pleased
it would be helpful to right a short summery of the story so pepole could know what the book is about.

Heart warming!
Rugged rancher and widower Jake Henderson could have told you the exact day his life ended--it coincided with the day his wife was killed. Because for the longest time Jake felt that he wasn't really alive, either. And then came that invitation to dance--from a woman with the best pair of legs he'd ever seen. And looking up, he saw that she had a face to match...

Suddenly Jake was falling fact, though he doubted that lovely investigator Rachel Quinn saw him as her ideal man--prime suspect was more like it! But if he could clear himself of the latter charge, could he still be convicted of the former?

I could not put this book down. I was wonderful. Kept me guessing the whole time. Loved it!

Lovelace Delivers!
As usual, Merline Lovelace delivers an emotionally charged story with wonderful characters who I hate to leave! She never disappoints and crowds my keeper shelves.

not the author's best
Unlike some of Merline Lovelace's longer books, this story lacks interest. The premise--pilot frozen in the 1950s is thawed out now--seems to promise readers an interesting look at the hero's adjustment to modern values, but in fact he makes the adjustment fairly easily. His sexism, etc., is all on the surface. The heroine isn't terribly interesting either--she could pass for the heroine of several other romances without trouble. If you're going to start with a sci-fi premise, you should DO something with it--not hang the same old romance plot on it and expect it to be enough.

One of the Best Category Romances I've Read in a Long Time!
I've read many of Merline Lovelace's books and this is a new favorite for me. She writes great heroines and this one is no exception. I love a woman who can take care of herself! Charlie is such a sexy hero. The chemistry between them. It's been so long since I've read something really different and fascinating from Silhouette like this. Hot as Ice was such a treat! The plot was original. The hero-adjusting-to-modern-life plot has been done to death in the time travel romances Silhouette and Harlequin published in the mid 90s. It was nice to see Lovelace concentrate on the action and adventure that makes this line special. This story requires some suspension of disbelief but the author made it ring true for me. I haven't been reading as many SIMs in the last few years. I got so sick of babies and cops and cowboys and amnesia. This one didn't have any of that, just an original romantic story. More like this and I'll have to start up again!

LESS FOR YOUR MONEY
Am I the only hard core romance reader who resents paying extra for an "out-of-print" story by a favorite author because it is paired with a story by a new or less popular author?

I find myself visiting the used book stores and websites to get the book in which I am interested. This is, as one reviewer wrote, a pre-PC novel. I may be strange, but I enjoy tracking a favorite author's progress as it makes me believe that we all can grow, improve and produce better and better results.

The marketing strategy is obvious, but I think it costs (and irritates) loyal readers.

Overload-Story of Hot Love
I loved this story and in this world full of everything including the kitchen sink being PC, I actually miss the old romances of the 80s with the dominent alpha males that took care of the heroines. The heroine was no push over, she had her own business, her own identity, her own life. She was just gun shy due to an extremely bad past relationship and was scared to give love a try again. Fortunately for the hero, they were both at the right place and the right time and the heroine with the hero's help faced her own demons. Every woman should have her own sense of self-worth and her own identity, but sometimes life's road is alot easier to travel with someone you can lean on when the going gets tough and alot more fun when they are hot in bed as well, LOL!

Only for Linda Howard
I searched forever to find a reprint of LH's Overload. The story of Tom and Elizabeth is great. I read their story a long time ago in a Summer Sizzler. I lost the book when my baggage was lost on a plane. I nearly cried. Elizabeth is strong but fragile, an interesting mix for the heroine. The trauma of her past has made her gun shy with men, especially Tom. If you like LH then this is must read. It is one of her earlier works so if your looking for something new then look elsewhere. Beware! You may already have this books floating around in your collection.

I haven't read the Lovelace story yet. It sounds interesting, but I only bought the book for LH.
