Lots of suspense, love and laughs
This is the next to last installment of the "Code Name:Danger" series.

Doc, the quiet genius of the group, is a whiz at making lists and planning for all eventualities. His ability to do so allows him to lead a double life as a world-renowned electronics expert and a spy for OMEGA, a top-secret agency. So he sees no trouble in traveling to Cannes with his partner Maggie, taking care of some OMEGA business, and flying his docile fiancee out for their wedding a couple of days after that. After all, he left her detailed instructions...

Little does he know that his simple and sweet Paige has thrown out all his lists, and is already on her way to Cannes to meet him. She still loves David, but just can't help feeling he's never quite himself with her, always holding some things back. She has decided to give him one more chance and, if they can't resolve this, she'll return his engagement ring.

Before she can meet him, however, she runs into a friendly American who takes her on a shopping spree that turns Paige from girl-next-door to slinky seductress. And that's when the trouble starts. What ensues is a case of mistaken identity, stolen technology, a mysterious buyer, a street-smart orphan and a high-priced callgirl. Oh, and Paige and David still have to have that talk...

This book is great. I would have given it 4 1/2 stars if I could. In fact, the only reason I didn't think it rated five stars was because I read the next book in the series, PERFECT DOUBLE, before I read this one. Even in this work, there were times when I felt Maggie got dangerously close to stealing the show. So, I recommend that (unlike me) you read the books in order.

How the "SHY ONE" saves the day!
This is a very good but brief spy thriller book where the unknowing shy and quiet fiancee finds out her soon-to-be-husband is not only an engineer but an ex-Navy man and US secret agent. This is about Paige and David. There is also an underlying story about David's spy female partner and her feelings for their BOSS - Adam. This book will keep you riveted. You will also want to read the sequel of Maggie and Adam (if you can find it).

A great time travel romance...
Captain Aurora Durant was flying over Iraq when her and her co-pilot Lt. Charlie Everett flew right in the middle of a storm like nothing either of them had seen before. When lightning strikes into the cockpit and Charlie is knocked unconcious, it is up to Aurora to bring the plane down safely, which she is miraculously able to do. What she doesn't know is where she is, only that she has a magnificet warrior standing over her talking to her in a language that hadn't been used in over one thousand years. Soon, Aurora learns that she has extrodinarily crossed time to almost two thousand years before she was born. When she realizes that she may never be able to go back, Aurora tries to find her niche in 160 A.D. Aurora never expected to fall in love with the warrior that rescued her whom she soon learns is Lucius Antonius, senior ceturion of the Roman Empire, dubbed Luke by Aurora.

Lucius had never met a more proud woman that Aurora of the gods. At first believing that Aurora was sent by his enemies to bring down Rome, Lucius is cautious. As time goes on, Lucius believes the unbelievable story of crossing through time. For surely no woman of Rome would ever challenge him as much as the firey haired goddess that he desires. Together, Lucius and Aurora try to compromise his demand for constant obidience and her demand for respect, regardless of who he is.

Somewhere in Time is a sweet story between these two people who love each other enough to overcome the obstacles that they run into. The only thing that I didn't like was the ending. I believe that Luke wouldn't have surivied in the twentieth century because he is used to constant obidience from everyone he commands. He would not know how to survive in this world where he has to take orders from a woman. Other than that, it is great and I recommend that you pick it up!

great book! *drools*
This was one of those books that you see at the grocers with the magazines...and thank god i picked it up to give it a try...well worth it!...very romantic with just enough 'extra' to make things interesting without becoming a smut. ^.^ Highly recommend!

Guys in skirts!
This is a great book from Merline Lovelace, I almost wish I could go back in time myself. This book is the story about U.S. Air Force Captain Aurora Durant who gets swept back 2,000 years into the past during a Saudi sand storm and meets up with Senior Centurian Lucias Antonius. Heads butt and sparks fly, along with a few choice twenty-first century phrases and a few Latin phrases as well! Needless to say if my imagination is anything to go by after the decription that Merline Lovelace gives, I hope this guy drops into my backyard sometime soon. I enjoyed this book from beginning to end, I couldn't put it down. Keep them coming Merline!!!

Good characters, bad situations...
I found that I liked the characters in these books (and the companion, dangerous to know). There's a lot of humor and sexual tension, and character interaction is at romance best. I found, however, that the 'spy' situations were unbelievable to the point where they detracted from the story. The heroes were too infallible. The situations they found themselves in were too complex, and then too easily solved.

That being said, I love stories that tie together (series), and this is a pretty good series. Good light summer reading.

"Code Name: Danger" Series
This series was originally published by Silhouette Intimate Moments. It concerns a top-secret American spy agency called OMEGA. Each installment takes the team on a different high-intensity mission somewhere on the globe, and in each one an operative finds true love.

Merline Lovelace does a fantastic job balancing spy action and romance. I'll pick up anything with her name on it. Dangerous to Hold and Dangerous to Know are re-released compilations of her previous books (although they still work, unlike so many dated MIRA books).

Since some descriptions of this novel have already been written, I'll just add that the next compilation will include UNDERCOVER MAN (Doc's story) and PERFECT DOUBLE (Maggie and Adam's story). Trust me, you DO NOT want to miss that!!!! You can check out those books' reviews if you just can't wait till June for some hints.

What a great read - Can't wait for the next book!
This is one romance novel you just have to read. I do not normally read romance novels because they do not usually have depth or depth of characters, but Merline Lovelace really changed my mind with a romance novel filled with suspense and great characters. Jake and Nate are characters that you cannot help but like, and I am on the edge of my seat waiting to find out what happens between Maggie and Adam. Great read!

Can't understand how it got such great reviews
I love military book so I thought that I would at least like "River Rising" by Merline Lovelace. Boy, I was wrong. Can't say one thing positive about this book. I found the two main characters to be unbelievible. I don't know why of reviewers like Ryan (the main male character) to me, he seem completely unlikeable. And Carley (the main female character) didn't act like someone who was in the military officer. I have to say that the other reviewers of this lead me to a bad book.

Good romantic suspense
When Major Carly Samuels is called on to investigate the murder of a high-profile female officer, it is assumed that the husband was the killer. Going by the eyewitnesses accounts, Carly fully assumed that ex-hockey player, and fallen hero, Ryan McMann will comply. When he doesn't, she figures she is hiding something. She is right.

Convicted felon Ryan McMann is out on probation. All he wants his to finish his two months and get out of Alabama. The thought of a murder investigation doesn't sit well with him, but the thought of pretty Major Samuels is a different story.

Together Carly and Ryan must find the murderer and fight their growing attraction to eachother.

This is the second book I've read by Merline Lovelace and I thought it was very good.

Guilty of creating another passionate military romance!
Although a raging flood threatens Major Carly Samuels, the greatest danger--to her heart and to her body--is Ryan McMann, a convicted felon and former athlete with a dark and mysterious past.

Carly's dedication to her career as an Air Force attorney forces her into close contact with Ryan, a beautiful, blue-eyed former hockey player who was a witness to a murder Carly is required to investigate. Despite Ryan's refusal to reveal details about himself or the murder he witnessed, Carly discovers enough information about Ryan and the murder to find herself immersed in a rising river of flood waters and a rising tide of love and lust which threaten to overcome her.

As an Air Force attorney, I can vouch for the accuracy of Ms. Lovelace's legal detail. As a University of Vermont graduate, I can appreciate her acknowledgement of my alma mater's athletic prowess. But most importantly, as a woman, I can vouch for the fun and exciting read Ms. Lovelace presents. The mystery is interesting, the characters passionate and the plot fast-moving. As Debbie Macomber says, "Each new book is an enjoyable adventure."

it started off really well...
But the tenderness and fireworks that marked the pair in the beginning of the book, the sparks that made the couple so special seemed to fade as the necessity to wrap up the mystery moved to the forefront. Our hero and heroine were simply on a collision course of love, and I never believed that anything would keep them from it. Once the mystery was inevitably resolved, all that was left was for them to fall into each others arms.

"If A Man Answers" was obviously well researched, and I give Ms. Lovelace full points for setting the scene. There were some good moments, no doubt about it - but ultimately this book isn't going to be a keeper.

WOW! Suspense, Romance ~ Couldn't Put This One Down!
Molly Duncan has left behind a bossy, meddlesome fiancé - even her apartment and furniture in Boston - to move to Las Vegas and start over on her own. She loves her new job as a linguist and representative for the Las Vegas Visitors and Convention Bureau, her new home (though somewhat bare of furniture), and her new life. The only thing to upset this happy picture is Molly's new neighbor, Major Sam Henderson, USAF. He drives her to pin scolding notes on his door about trash cans left in the middle of her driveway, to make angry phone calls to complain about the loud country western music blaring from his house, and to threaten legal action if he uproots the hot pink oleander bushes that she lovingly planted along their disputed property line, just so that he can install a swimming pool in his backyard.

One night following a particularly long and loud bout of ear splitting music, Molly called her neighbor to complain - yet again. However, Molly mistakenly dialed the wrong number and instead of talking to her neighbor, she listened in horror while the man who answered the phone was interrupted by a "visitor" who then shot him to death. Still not realizing that she had reached the wrong number, Molly called 911 to report that her neighbor, Sam Henderson, had been shot. The police arrive, wake up her perfectly fine (though royally miffed) neighbor, and the story takes off from there.

Unknown to Molly, Sam is recovering from an accident that occurred when he ejected from an F15 and his head hit the faulty canopy. As a result of his injury, Sam experiences severe headaches that prevent him from flying and threaten to end his career. Refusing to take any of the variety of pain medications that he has been given, Sam deals with the pain by working out until he is exhausted while listening to his favorite country western music. Following Molly's ill-fated wrong number telephone call, she and Sam seem to be thrown together, literally, and their attraction to each other and growing admiration for each other overcome their previous, instantaneous dislike. They seem ill suited to one another, but as you read through the story it's really difficult to imagine them apart or with anyone else. Other characters in the book like Molly's boss, Davinia, and Antonio, her boyfriend and husband in training number 4, provide the perfect contrast to the two main characters as they attempt to solve a murder and prevent Molly from becoming the next victim.

I just couldn't put this book down. I laughed, and cringed, and worried, and sighed ... well, it was just a great read, and I HIGHLY recommend it!!!

Not quite believeable
The audio version of this story was not quite up to par. The accent was distracting. As for the story, it presented radical elements of weather, predicament and man that a determined woman faced in her mission to save her father's life. Not your ordinary love story, even for the old west frontier, with a little too much problem solving for her to overcome. Not much gentle, tender lovemaking, so if that's what you like, avoid this story.

Lovely, tender story
From the back cover:

Josiah Jones was a bear of a man - certainly nothing like the mere boys who'd paid court to Tatiana as Countess Karanova. This man personified the wild, untamed lands that called to her own unhappy soul.

Tatiana brought something new to the California wilderness - a cool aristocratic beauty and courage enough to match any man's. But Josiah was a mountain man with a broken heart. He knew such a jewel could never share his wanderlust or his life - especially if she discovered his secret...

vainless beauty
I really liked this book because the character, Allie, a very beautiful model, isn't concerned with war-scarred Rafe's looks. She shows that love can conquer anything, even a reluctant lover. :)

This is the last book in the five book series Follow that Baby. Thank goodness. The series was not all that great. In this book the presumed dead Jack is back. Most of the book focuses on the events that happened before he died. The readers get to know how Jack and Sabrina met and fell in love. At the very end of the book the mystery surrounding Jack's "death" is told and we discover the person behind it. As much as the family was involved in the search for Sabrina and her baby, not to mention their grief over Jack's death, they had only two paragraphs where they are reunited with Jack. This was a bit diappointing. But, there again, the whole series was a bit of a disappointment.

A beautiful tale of love & courage.
Sea captain Alexander of Athens kidnapped Phaedra, the niece of the King of Sparta, to keep his presence & mission a secret. Being a Spartan woman, Phaedra can't help but be confused yet scornful of Alexander's gentleness & concern. On the other hand, her fiercely independent spirit & physical prowess ensnares him like a 'siren's call'.

This is the last book in the Destiny's Women Trilogy, which tells the historical tale of a strong women of their time who faced the odds...and triumphed in love. Don't miss "Alena" & "Sweet Song of Love" which are set in Roman Britian & the Middle Ages respectively.
