This is a cycle but the
telecom market is still getting worse. It is still a matter of overextension. Too
many companies that have borrowed from banks that expected to be huge
players with large market share in too short of time. This was the book that set the ground work for how recovery can start taking place as the economy goes through this bullish period.

I have come to rely on P.J. Louis for insightful, articulate, and comprehensive analysis of telecom issues. His latest book on telecom management is important reading for all those who work at the decision-making level in telecoms - and also for anyone who works with them. This book is highly recommended.

Mr. Louis' "tell it like it is" insight into the art of selling products and services in a tumultuous environment is refreshing. He provides succinct advice based on real experiences, in the good times as well as the bad times. I consider this book an essential tool for anyone thinking about entering or surviving in the Telecom arena.

"Telecommunications Internetworking" is a well thought out description of an evolving market few people really understand. There are many individuals who posess expertise in one or more specific areas, but few posess the breath of expertise presented in this book. Mr. Louis has created a book that should be on every telecom professional's book shelf. Informative, yet easy to read, I am sure I will refer to this book often as various questions arrive on my desk.

I was pleasantly surprised to find a book that is easy to understand, yet thorough, for the non-engineer. My background is in finance and I currently work as a financial consultant for PricewaterhouseCoopers, focused on the telecom industry. I would recommend this book to anyone with a desire to learn more about what happens "behind the scenes" and how networks will continue to evolve in the future.

This is one of the best books you will buy as a medical student or intern. It is a requirement for your pocket. At Barnes-Jewish Hospital they give this to all the interns in July. If you know read it a couple times it will make internship easy...except for the 100 hours a week you will put into the job...Honestly...BUY IT- I would have bought it in medical school if I knew about it.

I wish I had had this book as an intern. It's a concise, pocket-sized guide covering the essential need-to-know information for interns. I especially liked the sections on cross cover, triage, and internet resources.

Don't be fooled by the title. While it targets WindowsCE, this is one of the best and more comprehensive books ever written on Windows. The explanations are simple, the examples relevant and the samples I have examined were written with an extroardinary balance between skill and simplicity. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is serious about learning WindowsCE and Windows in general.

This book is the best book I've seen for developing Windows CE systems. Notice I said systems not applications. While other books talk about how to develop applications for WinCE systems this talk about actually how to build the kernel and other configurations. I use this book frequently to look up information regarding CE. It also provides good coverage of topics for application development and COM & MFC framework. This book needs a new revision to keep up with the changes in the 3.0 version, however.

This book covers many topics of CE. And it describes every topics deeply. The author teaches me how to do step by step. It lets me understand CE soon. I had e-mailed the author for asking some problems. He replied me detailly. I just hope to buy his new books if he want to publish his professional experiences again.

Normally, after reading a book I have many things to say about it, some of which come easily and others which I struggle to put into words. After completing A Woman of Means by Peter Taylor, I felt a whole rush of half-formed ideas and feelings bubbling just below my consciousness, but which I was unable to articulate. I beleive this is because although the story is told in a straightforward style and is easy to follow, it's presented through the eyes of a intelligent,young narrator who's struggling to find a place for himself, whether it be at his school, in the city, or in his own family.

Much of his uncertainty comes from his inability to establish a firm relationship with a mother-figure, whether it be with the grandmother he describes while recalling his earliest memories in the rural South, or with his wealthy step-mother whose home he lives in with his father in St. Louis.

A mother to him seems to represent a home, which is something he has never really had, due to his constant moving from place to place with a father who is determined to make a name for himself. When his father begins to achieve some professional success, gets married to a wealthy young widow and they move into the woman's house, there finally seems to be a chance to develop roots in a town, at a school, and most importantly within a family.

The story focuses on the boy's gradual sense of belonging and how this belonging is eventually threatened by what he perceives as the disolution of his parents's marriage. It is a very complex examination of not just what the boy needs to be happy, but his father and step-mother as well, and includes the the themes of wealth/poverty, the city/country, moderness/ tradition, and love and reputation--all of which are relevant to our own age. It also contains the same mysterious quality of all great art, in that it encapsulates things that can only be truly assimulated, not through the mind, but through the heart.

This is my number one favorite book on the Tarot, and I have bought many copies to give as gifts to my friends. Someone gave me the Spanish translation for Christmas ("Aprenda Como Leer el Tarot") and I actually enjoy it more in Spanish than in English. I love this book no matter what language I read it in.

Simply put, I love this book. I like the fact that it summarizes the lives of so many African Americans including the famous and the still unknown. I highly recommend this book to any reader seeking information about the lives and consequent impact of some of our heroes.

This is the best, most comprehensive yet accessible soup cookbook I have ever seen. The photographs are beautiful, the recipes are well-organized, and the directions are detailed, clear and concise. The recipes range from the exotic to the everyday, and every soup you can think of is included. Anyone who loves soup (and who doesn't?) will love this book. A fantastic gift for anyone who enjoys cooking.

I've wanted to learn how to cook great soups for several years, but most recipes have inadequate explanations or are too "basic." Not so this one. Since I got it four weeks ago, I've tried eight of the recipes; each was incredible. Moreover, the explanations at the beginings of each chapter helped me to understand why things are done in certain ways, enabling me to deviate from the recipes with confidence (and success). I've loved the hearty soups so far, and can't wait for summer to try some of the cold soups. Enjoy!! (One caveat, these recipes tend to take at least two hours the first time they are tried, so are not for a meal on the run.)

One of my favorite cookbooks -- and I have many! The book is laid out in a logical manner by "type of soup". All the favorites are in here (gazpacho, clam chowder, minestrone, etc.) as well as so very many not-so-common recipes! I received this book as a gift a week ago, for Christmas, and I have already used it three times! So hard to find a whole book on soups! Heartily recommend it to everyone!

This excellent book is hard to put down but I am afraid that in going from a hardcover edition to a smaller paperback that the maps have become very hard to read. The letters are so small on some of the maps that they are nearly impossible to read. Hope the editors do something about it but I doubt it will happen. Minor flaw in a great read.

Here is one of the most precise book ever written on the whole campaign, starting with the drift to war in Burma and ends with the Japanese surrender. The book is loaded with tons of information on relatively small skirmishes to battles of epic proportions such as the Sieges of Imphal and Kohima, and there are many qoutes to go with the narrative. The book also covers Orde Wingate and his Chindits, Operation Thursday, and the lesser known participation of Chiang Kai Shek's Chinese forces.
This is a must have for history buffs and wargamers alike! I absolutely suggest you to read the whole thing, which may seem impossible at first, but once you have opened it you just can't put it down!

This is an outstanding book that must be considered the definitive single-volume account of the campaign in Burma in WWII. The author is a veteran of the campaign in the British Army where he was an intelligence officer. What is especially enjoyable about this book is that it includes many firsthand Japanese accounts in addition to Allied. The author speaks Japanese and drew upon official Japanese histories and personal interviews with participants. I have read several other books about this often forgotten Theater in WWII ( including Viscount Slim's "Defeat Into Victory" ), but this is the first book that includes Japanese sources. The author starts with the Japanese invasion of Burma and discusses the political situation in Burma prior to the invasion and how the Japanese used this to their favor. It includes the retreat of the British into India, their recovery, the British offensive in the Arakan, and Wingate and the birth of the Chindits. The author goes into great detail about Kohima-Imphal and this is where the Japanese perspective is so interesting. It follows with battles of North Burma and Stillwell, Mandalay/Meiktila and the race to Rangoon and the Japanese breakout of the 28th Army and then the surrender of Japanes forces. The book has good maps and it is not to difficult to follow forces on the battlefield. The most daunting task is trying to remember the Burmese and Indian names for places and trying to remember all the names of the Japanese sources and officers. But all this helps to add to the authenticity of the book. This book is a must read for anyone interested in WWII. It is well written, easy to read and very enjoyable. I highly recommend it.

I had the priveledge of hearing Louis Posner speak last year. Not only was he incredibly inspirational, but he was full of life. It was an honor to meet him. Listening to his story changed my life. If anybody is thinking about buying this book, don't hesitate. It's worth every penny, plus more. I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

Last year I had the wonderful opportunity to hear Mr. Poser speak. For over an hour I was held spellbound by his enthusiasm, knowledge and ability to encapsulate a period of time in our history that was so devastating to so many people. He has accomplished the same with his book. Writing about his own personal experiences and weaving in historical facts adds a dimension and flavor to that period of time that you can genuinely feel. History and non-history buffs alike will find this book enlightening and thought provoking.

I have listened to the author give lectures so I was interested in the book version where he adds details and am very pleased with the result. The content is neither depressive nor heroic. It has a balance as seen from the perspective of an adolescent, alone and hunted by the Gestapo, who has courage and will to survive Auschwitz for two years. I highly recommend it for high school libraries.
