Good effort - but not quite there
Another droll Sam book
Adventures with lovable SamIn all their simplicity, these are brilliant little books, with just the right dose of adventure and fun in familiar settings for the youngest readers.
On a side note, the Sam books created a stir when they were first published in Sweden close to 20 years ago. They were written in "kids' speak", just the way our little ones speak, which some people protested against and claimed proper sentences were needed. Barbro Lindgren's answer was to publish the next one still written in kids' speak - with "translations" into proper adult language at the bottom of the page! The English versions are however written in proper sentences.
All in all, these books are great for starting a life-time love of reading.

Lost with AndreiAndrei remembers the house he lived in when he was in his mother's stomach. When she disappears, he is taken to a children's home. Here he meets a friend, Vova, who has never met his mother because she was a dog and only wanted puppies. Andrei and his little friend leave to find Andrei's mother. He remembers she wears a blue dress and has a barrette in her hair. I'm not sure how it ended, it was unclear to me.
Sweet watercolors illustrate the boys' journey through the bustling city.

ROSA WILL CLEAN UP!Her owner loves her dearly and will move mountains for her. When Rosa swallows one of her rubber squeaky toys, her owner has her admitted to a pet hospital where the dog undergoes surgery to remove the rubber toy.
Hospitals are frightening places for anybody of any age. To her credit, the author helps keep some of that fear at bay by having a dog patient as opposed to a human patient. Using this distancing technique makes it easier to laugh at the notion of a pet hospital (such places do exist) and cheer for the recovery of the avaricious little dog.
