great
Not as perfect as #1, but still very good. Perhaps too many plot directions happening at once - also some things a little hard to believe as compared to in the first book, such as the convenient stampeded of mammoths. Can't wait for the next 4 in this series to be published in English. NBM, Dargaud, please hurry!

Strange, weird, great
Jonquet is a French author of children's books, which I am somewhat familiar with. They are good, enjoyable books. I had never read any of his other works, although I did know he had published some mysteries and essays. This novel is one of those, and it is quite a discovery if you ask me. Jonquet depicts a relationship between a man and a woman that is so strange and twisted as to be called surreal. Are they husband and wife? Father and daughter? Lovers? Associates? Acquaintances? Brother and sister? The answer could be any or every one of those. And who is the wounded man? Where do they come together? This book would be great inspiration for a David Lynch or Stanley Kubrick film. This is a world where the crime is accepted and exalted, by its very victim. The story grips the reader tightly, and doesn't let go until the very end. Good thing this is a short book, because I couldn't stop reading.

I gave it four stars, because I began to glimpse the answer to the mystery about halfway through the book. But the story is fascinating in its weirdness, the characters are twisted but somehow likable enough, and the story presents an idea so bold and original as to be shocking by the time it is revealed. Even if you somehow saw it coming.

Necessary Text for the Neophyte
After reading the book, I better understood the fundamentals of proteomics. The book over all is well written and provides information into the new technology of proteomics that have been poorly described in other texts. Professor Rabilloud, Thanks.

Good overview
roni horn has had a strong impact on contemporary photography . Her works incorporate the ideologies of many important movements of contemporary art which have been underrepresented in the fine art photgraphy world....this may be contested but i think that in the majority of the FA Photography there are extremely conservative currents, that run back to its stepchild role among the "truely" fine arts. Thankfully horn represents a challenging view for photography.

Imagining the Middle East

Informative if you don't fall asleep
This book examines the development of discord between the western world and the middle east, beginning with ancient times. The problem with this book is that it tries to translate a french intellectual discourse, and fails miserably. Its only comprehensible if you can remain awake. Good Luck!

A great book to understand the image of Muslims in the West.
This book gives in depth understanding of the image of Arabs and Muslims in the West. It also looks into the relationship which has evolved so far between the Muslims and the West. I recommend this book to those who want to comprehend the roots of mistrust of the Western civilization and it's domination of the world culture by Muslims. Faizan Haq.

A Wicked Pack of Cards: The Origins of the Occult Tarot

The Distempered Historian(s)
Much of this book is an expansion of an essay on occult tarot published in an earlier (and better) Dummett work, 'The Game of Tarot', wherein we are told, rather as a preview to what we get here in WPC, that occult tarot is a corruption of the original intent for the cards, which was solely about playing card games, and that occultist interpretations of 'what it all means' have added nothing of value to tarot. In WPC this view (and agenda) is particularized with a tiresome and generally inaccurate portrayal of the ideas and influence of the French occultists who made modern (occult) tarot. The authors are not much interested in writing history, but are rather engaged in professional and dull-brained debunking, where no opportunity for ridicule of their subjects is missed, and little attention is spent investigating 'inconvenient' facts (the ones which DON'T support the arguments of the authors).

The re-invention of cartomancy in France
As this book confirms, contemporary interest in Tarot cards was rekindled by a brief mention of the traditional Marseilles deck by a late eighteenth century French writer named Court de Gébelin. Writing without the benefit of Champollion's rediscovery of the Egyptian language, de Gébelin created a fanciful history of the cards, a fanciful etymology of the word "tarot," and was the catalyst for a great deal of mystification and malarkey.

The authors of this book try to do for the history of this old game what Ronald Hutton did for the origins of neo-paganism in "Triumph of the Moon." What they lack, though, is a wider background in the literature and culture, including the popular culture, of the period of French history in question. A broader grasp of this material would answer the question of why a need was felt for a mystic Tarot in nineteenth century France, and enable them to relate to their subjects with somewhat more sympathy. This background is given in Hutton's book, and is perhaps the most successful thing about it. Without it, the discussion of occult cartomancy turns into a round of "liar, liar, pants on fire."

The Historians', not the Occultists' perspective
In my opinion, the best volume to date about the history of the Tarot. I look forward to the series being continued into the contributions of the Golden Dawn. Many occultists will not like this book, as it thouroughly and logically debunks many cherished myths of the Tarot's history and origins. (No, it was not invented by Gypsies. No, it has no connection with the Quabala. No, it is not the ancestor of modern playing cards. No, it was not invented by the Egyptians.)

C'est tres horrible
This book makes a feeble attempt to show the world that an airplane hit the pentagon. They clearly have removed the parts of the pictures that show the evidence that debunks theur theory. Thats all I will say.

The Great American Lie
According to the information of this book, the wise American Government that you leave an attack with airplanes in it USA, the airplane that supposedly shatters in the Pentagon it was demolished by the Air Force, and what It enter in the Pentagon was a missile....
Fearing the opinion it publishes at world level, we were hidden the great truth of that day..... and from all the information that is in the book.....

Very interesting
I dont know if the information this book contains is true or not. However this book makes some sense. As a French, i think the author could be able to be very objective on 9.11, and i believe that what he said is not lie. Maybe what we believe to be true is a big fat lie
