Inspiring, captivating, and a precious find.
After 40 some years of living Alaska, I am well aware of the difficulty and seeming impossibility of capturing the great land on film and with words. The true essense and spitituality of this vast offering often eludes our cameras and pens. John has nailed it. His enduring patience and impecable eye for the finest of nature glows from image to image, mushroom ice stands, an otter enjoying a meal, volcanic clouds balloning over stands of towering spruce, an eaglets first moment broken from the shell, in your face bears, all these images and much more inspire me to look harder, go further, and wait longer for more of Alaska than I have ever experienced. The photos are sparkled by John's unique style of writing. After recieving the book as a gift I spent long nights, reading and re-reading his tales of adventure with delight. My work takes me far from home and John's book gives me opportunity to share the true flavors of Alaska with those I meet on the trail. Thank you John for sharing your God given talents, I so look forward to the next book.

Magnificent work of art.
I received a copy of John Pezzenti's book,A Photographic Journey Through The Last Wilderness,as a gift through my work. John Pezzenti's photographes portray such beauty and his words flow with spirituality. John Pezzenti's gift for writing matches his talent for capturing nature at it's finest. From the incredible photo's of the birth of an eagle,to the heart felt story of the Birthday Cake Bear. As I look through this magnificent book I feel his photo's and words drawing me in. It gives me the sense that I too am able to share what John Pezzenti must have felt being there. When I was young I went on a cruise to Alaska. I knew that one day I would move to this great land. John Pezzenti's book reinforce's why I kept this dream so close to my heart for all these years. I will always cherish this gift I received and feel blessed that John Pezzenti chose to share his God given talent with the rest of us. One could keep writing but there are no words that can truely describe this work of art. I highly recommend this book to anyone that has ever dreamt about Alaska. John Pezzenti truely opens his heart to the reader with his photographes and lets us share in the beauty he has captured over the past 25 years. I look forward to being able to share his work with my family and friends,as I also look forward to his next publishing.

Picture Perfect!
In my opinion, John Pezzenti's new book ALASKA is an award winner! It is like nothing ever before published. The layout is totally origional and keeps the reader excited about reading and enjoying the professional photographs taken by this world famous photographer. John Pezzenti has been my long time friend since birth and he has been so dedicated to creating a new coffee table book of Alaskan wildlife! John's faith in the Lord Jesus Christ has brought him through many unconquerable feats. His trust in God's power and love has resulted in all of his needs met while working on this book. John's heart has been touched by those unfortunate people in Calcutta and out of the kindness of his heart has donated a great proportion of his earnings to the helping of these people. In my opinion of this book I would have to say that there could be no better conversation piece for your coffee table so don't wait! Order your personal copy of Alaska now!!

Internal Medicine on Call

Internal Medicine on Call
this book is very good for some one who needs fast practical note to handle the newly admitted patient. I read many books in Internal Medicine area ( washington manuel, Current medical diagnosis and treatment, manual of adult ambulatory medicine, mini cecil ) but non of those books gave me what I wanted to know about how to handle the patient that just arrived and I should admitte. this book gives you general but very important informations STEPWISE and you wont be confused as reading big textbooks. the chapter on lab parameter is excellent and very useful. The surgery edition of this series is 85% same as the Internal Medicine one and if you read one it will cover the other too.

THE best on-call handbook!
This is by far the best on-call handbook written. It covers not only common crosscover problems, but has an excellent laboratory and medication reference as well. As a resident supervising procedures, the procedure section has some of the best illustrations and descriptions I've seen. In our Internal Medicine program, we often admit patients "solo" on overnight call, and this book has been a lifesaver (literally!) I forced my ICU intern to purchase this book, as I felt it was vital to getting through those late night nursing calls.

Overall very good, how about a new edition?
I am an intern in IM at the University of Florida, Shands Hospital. I have been using this book since day 1. It has saved me many times and my patients as well. The book is excellent for making a differential diagnoses and I like the fact that it lists common problems encountered while on call. It's great to follow all the recommended steps and really learn as you go along. The best example is hyperkalemia. I have used this 3 times in the last week. It's a great step by step guide to your differentials, what labs to order and what meds to push. I am using the 1st edition from 1991 and I still find it very useful as we still use most of the same drugs. I found it to be very helpful and a life saver. I would like to see a new edition with updated meds. I find myself using this book more than Wash manual or any other book I have. If I get called on abd pain, or fever, or anything, I look it up while in the elevator on the way to the floor and by the time I get there, I have a good idea on how to manage my patient effectively and safely. I would recommend this book for all residents and med students.

A top-flight book of a complex subject
A truly comprehensive book, enjoyable to both read and look through. It covers the history and scope of air travel, including airport and aircraft design, corporate identities and marketing in a thorough, extensive and compelling manner. It is distinctive in how it successfully melds a global scope and a focused perspective.

Excellent
This book is an excellent overview of the history of civil aviation, terminals, and airfields. The attention to detail, both photographic and linguistic, is marvelous and provides a wonderful account of airport design. The faithfulness to the original traveling photo exhibit allows readers the opportunity to experience the cultural presentation alongside the historical reconstruction. All in all, a wonderful book for any aviation fan.

Building for Air Travel: A must have!
BfAT is one of the most intriguing books you'll find about airports. It covers a lot of airport design aspects- but it is not an engineering book. In other words, you won't have to face boring charts and graphs. All you get is interseting texts, divided into differnt issues, and many rare and beautiful pictures. If you really like airports- you should have this book.

'Cabaret' fans only...
As you might guess - for the title above - I'm a huge, I mean, HUGE, 'Cabaret' fan and collector. So, of course, I found this book delightful, but - taking the risk of making a fool out of myself - I must warn to anyone who doesn't know it that these are the scores of the songs. I bought it thinking that it was something else - I don't know exactly what -, and I don't regret it, but it's not what I expected it to be... Thanks God I have a pianist friend so he can play it for me :-)Anyway, it's a must-have for every 'Cabaret-collector' out there.

The best Cabaret songbook available, a must have for any fan
This is the finest of all song and sheet music books from the Broadway show and film version of "Cabaret". It contains not only every musical number from most productions and the film, it gives background information and contains great photos as well. For anyone looking for the music from "Cabaret" or anyone wanting a look inside what the experience of "Cabaret" is, this is the book to buy. A necessity for any actor or "Cabaret" lover.

Farabeuf (Garland Library of World Literature in Translation, Vol 27)
Published in Hardcover by Garland Pub (1992)
Authors: Salvador Elizondo, John Incledon, and Leonard Woolf
Amazon base price: $15.00
Average review score:

The novel of an instant
This most innovative of novels is about an instant. While, in the Rue de l'Odeon, Dr. Farabeuf executes an erotic-chirurgical rite, the couple (one couple) remember the moment of execution by torture of a Chinese man in 1901, immortalized in a photograph. Farabeuf's lover assumes herself as the tortured Chinese (who is also Christ), making torture the equivalent of ardent love: the fusion of extreme pain and extreme pleasure.

"What??!!" you'll ask yourself. Don't worry, in this experimental novel the plot is only a vehicle for "pure" literature: a game with words, in an extremely sophisticated fashion. This book is a constant mirror-game of identities, places and times, but in the end it's not more than the "chronicle of an instant": the moment identities merge and ends meet.

This novel is extremely intelligently written, told in a time at the same time isolated from its course but recurring. Everything develops around the moment in which "she" runs to the window and as she passes her foot hits the leg of the iron table over which Dr. Farabeuf has the tools to execute his erotic-chirurgical rite. Filled with multiple solutions, this consummate literary trick is a clinical, almost scientific elaboration with words. Only for real lovers of serious (not necessarily boring) literature. PS: and it shows that Mexican literature is not only "magical realism" or bananas with pineapples.

The novel of an Ecrivant maudite
Salvador Elizondo belongs to the alternative Mexican literature that has nothing to do with magical realism. Farabeuf is his masterpiece. The novel centers on a series of theories exposed by Georges Bataille to create a misterious story closely related to the French movement of "Nouveau Roman". The book has an outstanding control of atmosphere that keeps the reader hooked to its mystery. Also, readers my be interested in the slow revealing of an absolutely misterious and complex plot. The book is the result of one of the obscure readers of Borges. The novel is not a weekend entertainment and it is only for those who look in literature an experience beyond fun. Philosophically, the novel is absolutely fascinating and if it can be accompanied by the reading of Bataille's "History of the eye", the intellectual challenge and experience is nearly impossible to match. It is also highly recommendable to use this book as an introduction to the Mexican generation of Casa del Lago and to other obscure authors (in the best sense of the term) such as Juan Garcia Ponce or Ines Arredondo).

Mini : The Design Icon of a Generation.
OUTSTANDING book, probably the BEST that I have in my collection, this is a MUST own for your MINI library...GET IT NOW, you will NOT be sorry.

Most complete coverage of the Mini I've ever seen
I have been a Mini Fan since the mid-sixties when they were racing at many "club" venues in Southern California. I actually became a "Fanatic" in 1986 when I actually purchased a Mini and have read many, many books on the Mini since. This book contains lots of pictures (along with many facts) that I have not seen before in any other publication. The book is very well laid out and the pictures are really well done. I enjoyed it immensely and wholeheartedly recommend it. A "must read" for any Mini Nut.

EVERY ROMAN CATHOLIC SHOULD READ THIS BOOK!
As a Catholic scholar and college teacher of systematic theology I cannot stress adamantly enough the importance of "Postures of the Assembly during the Eucharistic Prayer." Without question it is the single most important book I have on my shelf. Every American Roman Catholic (including every priest and bishop) who desires to be "Traditional" in the TRUE sense of the word and who is interested in experiencing a deeper level of presence and communion should understand the history of the postures of the assembly as well as its implications on comtemporary practice, which to a large extent in the American Catholic Church does NOT currently conform either with the revised Roman Rite or with the eariest traditions of the Church. Although the authors claim that the reader is left to draw his or her own conclusion at the end of the book as to which posture -- standing or kneeling -- is more appropriate for the laity, following upon their research firmly ground in Tradition (see council of Nicea, for example), doctrine and historical practice up to and beyond the first millenium, it is clear that a drastic change in the American Catholic laity's posture and theological understanding of the Eucharist is LONG overdue!

Provocative, informative and enjoyable
Let me admit that even a slim volume on this topic doesn't excite everyone. But this volume has a fascinating discussion on the social dimensions of posture in a ritual meal. There is exploration of the history behind posture - begining with adoration as action ... and kneeling arising out of kissing ....

Throughout the book wears its scholarship easily - creating an easy read that forces you to reevaluate the use of posture in your own faith community.

Quite good in reviewing the basic pathophysiology of endocrine disorders.
This book is becoming the standard for fellows in endocrinology.

Concise Endocrinology Textbook
This textbook is very user friendly. I prefer this text over the William's textbook of Endocrinology. Very well organized with many good illustrations and tables. Has appendix of endocrine testing as well as common drugs used in endocrinology. Highly reccomended.
