amazing breadth of job paths covered
I originally thought that the main focus of this book would be about veterinarians, in fact, it covers the whole range of animal related careers, from working in a pet store to becoming a vet, and all the places you could go after you've become a vet. It has a very helpful chapter on the process of getting in to vet school. The financial aid and acceptance policies are different from those of other schools, and all fall under a single overseeing board for all the schools. All the schools are listed here along with contact info for each. All very detailed.

Cardiac Surgery for the Cardiologist
Very often the way to best care for the patient with heart disease leads through the department of cardiac surgery. It is obvious that a good understanding of the surgical possibilities, the surgical indications and contraindications is mandatory to the cardiologist. This "Overview" paves the way for such an understanding. Important general issues are addressed like anaestesia for cardiac surgery, cardiopulmonary bypass, and myocardial protection. Special areas such as CABG, HOCM, the valves (native and prostetic), pericardium, congenital heart disease, transplantation, complications of acute myocardial infarction, endocarditis, and reoperation. The book however does not go into other important aspects of the relation between cardiologists and cardiac surgeons such as "what does the cardiac surgeon need to know in details from the TEE" and "what insight in surgical technic is necessary for the cardiologist to have when attending the patient with postoperative complications". The goal of the book however "is to help nonsurgeons answer their own questions about common cardiac procedures, and to help prepare these physicians to address the questions raised by their patients". It is very well-written and very easily read. It is a little dated though and a new edition should be very appropriate.

Taking account of the importance of the situation
This book is a wonderful introduction to the importance of situational influences on our inferences and decisions. The coverage of examples is thorough and it is easy to see how each is relevent to the topic at hand. Written in a an imminently understandable and conversational style, this book is a pleasure to read. I particularly enjoyed the ways in which the authors demonstrated the types of faulty logic we all use when trying to use dispositional information to make predictions about the behaviour of ourselves and others. This book points out quite clearly that just because an approach appears to work in the real world, doesn't mean that the rational for using it is reasonable. An enjoyable and informative read!

Primary Cardiology
The best thing I liked this book is the clear, actual and concise presentation of the subject. It is an excellent book for primary care physicians and internists. Primary Cardiology is divided into three parts. Part 1 covers fundamental principles thar underlie evidence-based medicine and translation of advances in science to the practice of medicine. Part 2 rational approaches to common clinical practice. Part 3 focouses on the evaluation of cardiovascular disorder. I higlhy recommend this book.

Excellent!
This book is very interesting and draws the reader into the world of The Scarred Lands. Not only is the book full of great storyline and plot that keeps you running the gambit to find out just what is going to happen on the next page. Is That Which Abides going to be resurected? This book draws you in to asking that same question over and over again. It's a tomenting exstacy that is in all great books. Basically, There is a forsaken elf priest who wishes to revive his slain god. Those who know about D&D and Sword & sorcery will enjoy reading how game terms play out in a beautiful dance, and fantasy readers will find a great plot with numerous twists and turns. But i warn you now. don't attempt to get this book unless you are willing to read the rest of the trilogy. It's addictive!

An excellent focus on land, people, and politics
Exploration Of Africa: Sudan adds to the Chelsea House 'Emerging Nations' series, providing focus on African explorations and history. Harmon's focus on the Sudan reveals the history of the country, from life before the arrival of white settlers to changes which occurred after. An excellent focus on the land, people and politics of the area.

THE TALE OF THE TERRIBLE TOYS by Richard Lee Byers
Literature for kids should follow the same rules that literature for adults has to follow and this book does. Although I am an adult (a grandmother) I read some kids' books to see if they will be appropriate for children I encounter at a fencing salle of which I am a member and for other children of friends, as well as for my grandchild when she is old enough to read.
THE TALE OF THE TERRIBLE TOYS focuses on a child who faces being the new kid in school, with all the childhood horrors that brings, as well as escalating demands from the TERRIBLE TOYS, which have befriended him but then become more and more malevolent.
The story is scary but not written in an overly gruesome style. It keeps you wondering how the boy will overcome the difficulties he faces. It's got good vocabulary and is fast paced. I'd recommend it to any young reader (age 9-12) who likes a shiver or three.

Excellent narration about real events
Interesting depiction of Darwin, Cap. Fitzroy and the indian Jemmy Button.
Also you will find the most primitive tribes and the most courageous and resolute missionaries.
It is possible to find a lot of things in this history: abnegation and faith, adventure and hope, but also emotions and sadness... over all: reality!
