Giving Thanks for Imagination
The first Thanksgiving might have been held in a different time and setting, but the people there seemed to appreciate the same things we do today. You will enjoy this story as David visualizes his teacher's description of the first Thanksgiving as he falls deep into his own imagination. From arriving in Plymouth Harbor to hunting wild turkeys for the first Thanksgiving, David realizes the hardships of the Pilgrims, the value of sharing, and most importantly, he appreciates and gives thanks for his friends and family, home and teacher, and for just being together. These are values held by every culture, and are something to be thankful for every day! A great book to open and explore with your own immagination!

Amazing man with many dreams but one true goal for life!
Well the book gave many details on his life of where he was born and so on but the main information was given in such context that one could read it if he had not tried! The book also tells a point! It's point would pretain to the mear fact of survival! You never stick to one idea, you let your mind flower!

Hmmmmmm.
While this book presents some very interesting points of view, it fails to accurately represent the science on MCS and environmental illness. There are too many misstatements of fact. Many, many people suffer from this life threatening condition and yet the authors fail to properly represent the true scope of their misery. While I very much enjoyed the abstruse philosophical perspectives the authors present in matter-of-fact ways, the plights of suffers are treated in a too cavelier way! Worth reading, but don't look here for accurate information reflective of the broad nature this emerging public health catastrophy!

Thought Provoking Account
Bodies In Protest is an account of how people with environmental illness attempt to makes sense of a mysterious disease the medical profession, with few exceptions, failes to recognize. It is very well-written and insightful. I learned a lot about the day to day problems of living with the illness and how difficult it is for people who suffer from it to live dignified lives. I suspect there will be plenty of science about this disease, but little human empathy for those who have it. This book is an effort to provide a human face to environmental illness. That it does so while also being theoretically evocative is a feather in the cap of the authors.

Good Book
There are twin bats whose names are Fangs and Flapper. These twins do everything together, including reading, playing sports, and flying into the night. One day during reading class Fangs discovered he had a loose tooth. He showed it off to all his friends and classmates. Flipper wished he had a loose tooth too. Fangs just couldn't wait for his tooth to fall out. That night at dinner Fangs bit down on a piece of bread and out fell his tooth. Fangs anticipated the tooth fairy's visit. Flapper was so jealous because he didn't have a loose tooth. Have you ever been so jealous that you would do anything to make the other person miserable? Well thats how Fang felt and he did something terrible to Fangs. If you've ever felt this way I'm sure you can relate to this book. I would recommend this book because I know everyone has had an experience like this at some point or another so its easy to understand.

Newsman Ned Meets the New Family
Published in Paperback by Scholastic (1988)
Authors: Steven Kroll and Denise Brunkus
Amazon base price: $2.95
Used price: $0.80
Average review score:

goofy fun
Newsman Ned tries to figure out what the new family moving into town is like, based on a few clues. He gets it completely wrong, much to the amusement of children.

The story shows just how wrong you can be, based on insufficient data. The illustrations are fairly blase', leading to my rating of only 3 stars.

This book contains a historical mistake
For those of us living along the Lewis and Clark trail in Montana and using this book with school children who study Lewis and Clark, we found an obvious error of historical fact. Lewis and Clark never traveled into the Flathead Valley as Kroll states on page 23. Instead, the explorers crossed over Lost Trail Pass into our lovely Bitterroot Valley and traveled north to make camp at Traveler's Rest, on the edge of present day Lolo, MT. The old Lolo trail (now US highway 12) leaves the Bitterroot Valley crossing the Bitterroot Mountains to the west. Could it be Kroll became confused because the Native Americans Lewis and Clark met in the Bitterroot were the Salish Flathead tribe?
