A wonderful book that brings hope and trust in our God.....
"Walking with angels" tells wonderful stories of God's angels helping us in time of need and great danger.

The stories are very moving and restore our faith in the Lord of Lords Jesus.

We who love the Lord are truly protected from evil as the Lord wills it. It's truly amazing how angels love to help us and obey our father in heaven.

This book is a comfort and joy to read, I only wish it didn't come to an end :) Buy it you'll be happy you did!!! God Bless, Rony.....

Interesting book, but not Froud's best
Like Brian Froud's other book, Faeries, The Goblin Companion is written like a field guide. This time, however, it is limited to the goblins, and it is written more in terms of short stories and interesting tidbits then an actual "field guide." Don't expect the breathtaking paintings and art found in the faeries books--the Goblin Companion is mainly full of quick sketches and gritty ink-and-watercolor drawings. It's a fun, whimsical picture book, but it's mostly just something to buy if you are either obsessed with goblins (like myself) or with Brian Froud. Otherwise, it is mediocre and gets boring quickly.

Interesting Note: Although this book doesn't make any mention of the film anywhere, all of the art for The Goblin Companion is basically concept art for the movie Labyrinth. Look carefully and you will see many of the goblins he sketches and writes about brought to life in the movie.

If only there'd been a Cottington in "Labyrinth"....
...Then this would be an ideal addition to the "Cottington Archive" series of books Including the Pressed Fairy Book, Pressed Fairly Journal, and Strange Stains & Mysterious Smells (all with co-conspirator and Monty Python alumnus Terry Jones) and Froud's solo contribution the Fairy Album. Like Strange Stains, the Goblin Companion offers whimsical Froud art accompanied by short comedic blurbs by Terry Jones, with these particular vignettes suggesting that the Goblin world, while distinct from our own, offers a humorous reflection of "Ungoblin" society through its depictions of goblin religion, politics, sports, and cooking. If you're a fan of the earlier books in the Cottington series, Monty Python, or the Labyrinth movie, The Goblin Companion will provide ample giggling and be a welcome addition to your library.

Great book, but rather odd...
A splendid blend of hilarious text and even-more-hilarious art, The Goblin Companion is great for the accomplished goblinologist, on for the dedicated fan of the movie Labyrinth.

AWESOME..CREATIVE ...BEAUTIFUL...FUNNY
I bought a couple of the Original 1994 published books. I couldn't believe the artwork..definately Froud's best. I was in awe. Then to enjoy the humor of comedy genius Terry Jones was sheer pleasure. Just the thought of catching (SNAP!) faires in a book make me giggle. This book is a definate keeper..I'M GLAD I BOUGHT EXTRAS TO SELL & AUCTION! Everyone is tickled pink..right down to the smashed decal. ADULT HUMOR!!

Must have
I love this book. The first day I got it, I couldn't put it down. It is very light reading, and is a great book to read. The art work is beautifully done, making it looks like they were actually squished. It also is great how you can see the main character kind of 'grow up'. This book is not for children in anyway, however, but it is a great gift for someone who has a sense of humor and loves fairys (ect).

From the Birth of Moonhopper to Fairy Eve's Year News....
If you're a fan of the Cottington fairy lore (the Pressed Fairy Book, Strange Stains and Mysterious Smells, and you might as well include the Goblin Companion since it too is made by the wonderful team of Froud and Jones), you'll never run out of holidays, or, as I call them, Excuses to Play Kazoo, Blow Bubbles, And Generally Make A Fool Of Myself. Some olidays are for elves or pixies or goblins only, but, if you consider the malleable nature of the celebrants as mentioned in other Froud books, this isn't really much of a hindrance. Consider this book as having four stars on it's own, but five when coupled with anything else by Terry Jones and Brian Froud.

Empowering
Accessible, comprehensive, and inspiring. The Better World Handbook is an incredible resource for anyone who wants to make a positive impact on the world. These authors take a critical look at environmental, social, and political issues from an uncommon angle by addressing the question: what can I do? I felt empowered after reading this book because it's such a practical, hands-on guide. I'll be using it for years to come!

Want a better world?
This is the best book of its kind I have seen. In a straightforward fashion, the authors review the ways in which you can get involved with the many, many organizations available working on social issues. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants a better world.

Be the change you're hoping for.
Mahatma Gandhi said that we must be the change we wish to see in the world (p. 1). This is also the premise of THE BETTER WORLD HANDBOOK, which demonstrates that you don't have to be a Ghandhi, Mother Teresa, Cesar Chavez, or Martin Luther King, Jr. to make a positive difference in the world. By turning our good intentions into everyday actions, even ordinary people can make a profound impact on our local and global communities.

The authors of this definitive, 291-page handbook are college instructors and Ph.D candidates at the University of Colorado, Boulder. (Okay, so some Boulder residents believe that the rest of the planet rotates around our city. But when it comes to serious issues of land development, diversity, endangered species, public smoking, chain stores and restaurants, shopping malls, alternatives to SUVs, and recycling, there is indeed much for the rest of our country to learn from this very special community.) THE BETTER WORLD HANDBOOK first identifies the problems facing our planet. For instance, while "we have become a nation of sleepwalkers" (p. 1), the wealthiest 20 percent of the world's population earns 30 times as much income as the poorest 20 percent (p. 13). The average American CEO makes 475 times as much as the average worker (p. 13). The richest 1 percent of Americans own almost as much wealth as the bottom 95 percent of the U. S. population (p. 14). The average American consumes as much energy as two Germans, six Mexicans, twelve Chinese, twenty-nine Indians, or 117 Bangladeshi (p. 25). Air pollution kills nearly 70,000 Americans every year (p. 25). Development results in the extinction of 137 species each day, while the world's population grows by 212,000 people a day (p. 26). Our children watch 20,000 to 40,000 commercials on television every year (p. 42).

After confronting these alarming statistics, in an easy-to-read format, the HANDBOOK then reveals how we can make the world a better place through our actions involving money, shopping, food, friends and family, community, work, transportation, and travel. For example, the authors encourage us to vote, invest in socially responsible companies, take a daily walk, get to know our neighbors, ride a bike to work or take the bus, work less, shop locally and buy less stuff, eat organic foods and less meat, watch less tv, volunteer, recycle, and appreciate others. They even go so far as to offer suggestions for our personal transformation, cultivating emotional and spiritual well-being, maintaining physical health, and taking time for reflection in our lives. Offering us words to live by, THE BETTER WORLD HANDBOOK is sure to become a trusted resource for anyone hoping to change the world through the power of one.

Wonderful armchair adventure of historic flight.
Aviators Bertrand Piccard and Brian Jones toggle linear narratives of their around the world journey. There's lots of emphasis on what would appear like almost every altitude, groundspeed and directional change. Still, this is perhaps the most important element to success (the weather and catching the right winds aloft) and these frequent alternations between voice of Jones and Piccard keeps the reader consumed. Yes, it can be argued (as Piccard and Jones have to agree) that the two weather wizards at Breitling base in Geneva are just as much the heroes. Some pilot introspection, humor and color images make for the ideal armchair adventure. We are made to understand that great grandson of Jules Verne supported this endeavor (greatest integrity tie to simple love of flight) more than the other attempts (financiers and simply record seekers). As such, and from this pool, it's probably with the most pure love of flight from Jones and Piccard that we are priviledged to share in this fantastic journey.

I had no idea.........
... as to what a great accomplishment it was to do this balloon trip. A good read that lets you share the experience .... no macho image, a honest written book about a extraordinary accomplishment.

I loved the book...
This book was THE BEST I have ever read! I finished it in just two days and it was GREAT

If you like his fairies, you'll love this.
I love all of Brian Froud's drawings. I think I have every single one of his books. If you can't find "The Goblins of Labyrinth," try looking for "The Goblin Companion." Enjoy!

Funny, well illustrated companion to the movie
This book is full of funny illustrations, brief bios, and weird little gags that make the movie all the more entertaining. Even on it's own, the book is funny and... educational to an extremely limited sense of the word. Froud is an excellent artist, and illustrates everything cleverly and sharply.

Wow, that's good stuff.
This book includes Incredible Hulk: Return Of The Monster, Incredible Hulk: Boiling Point, and Banner.

The first two parts of this book are a change from what we've expected from the Hulk in the past and let me tell you that change is sometimes a good thing. In this case, it's a great thing. Bruce Banner/the Hulk gets caught in a web of a secret organization's conspiracy and he is on the run from their notorious agents. While this sounds like a cliche, it's really not -- a big part of why it's not is, well...how many cliched conspiracies include the Hulk in them? Yes, the Hulk and Bruce Banner are strong enough characters to make even an ordinary-seeming plot really, really good.

It's a new twist on an old concept that just works out well.

As for those looking for the classic "HULK SMASH!" version of our brute, this book's got PLENTY of that in here thanks to Banner (by Brian Azzarello and Richard Corben). There are also a few scenes where the Hulk destroys many things in the other portions of the book, too.

It's well balanced between the Hulk's classic destructiveness and fugitive ways. The only difference is that it's seen through a new, fresh perspective. It's different. It's cool. But, most importantly, it's good. And that's reason enough for you to buy it.

An Incredible Collection!!
This hardcover collects the recent "Incredible Hulk" storylines "Return of the Monster","Transfer of Power", and "Startling Stories: Banner" mini-series. What a great compilation! You have the suspenseful, masterfully-paced writing of Bruce Jones, and the powerful artwork of John Romita, Jr. The Hulk has not looked so, well...incredible, since Dale Keown's run in the early 1990s. This storyline is a perfect place to re-acquaint yourself with the Hulk since it begins a new run, and presents a much more believable Hulk than has been presented in the comic book in recent years. Fans of the Lou Ferrigno TV series will enjoy these stories. Nuff said! Buy it!!!

NASTY HUMOR
I PICKED UP THIS BOOK SIMPLY BECAUSE IT IS ONE OF A SCANT FEW OF BRIAN FROUDS BOOKS STILL IN PRINT. I CAN'T HELP REGRETTING THAT A LITTLE. BRIAN FROUD IS A WONDERFUL ARTIST, AND TERRY JONES CAN BE FUNNY SOMETIMES, BUT I GET THE FEELING THIS BOOK WAS RUSHED ONTO SHELVES SIMPLY TO CAPITALIZE ON THE POPULARITY OF THE PRESSED FAIRY BOOK. IT IS LITERALLY SATURATED WITH BATHROOM HUMOR: AMONG THE CREATURES THEY INTERVIEW ARE FARTS, VOMIT, AND URINE STAINS. EVEN FROUD'S ART, WHICH IS SURE TO INTICE PEOPLE WHO WON'T EVEN READ THE TEXT, SEEMS RUSHED AND CHEAP. MANY CHARACTERS ARE SHAPELESS GLOBS, AND MANY INTERPRETATIONS OF THE SAME CHARACTERS KEEP POPPING UP. IT IS SALVAGABLE BUY SOME FUNNY IDEAS (ONE STAIN THINKS IT IS GROUCHO MARX) AND LINES ("FROUD TOOK SEVERAL BLOWS TO THE BRAIN WHICH FORTUNATELY HAD NO AFFECT" SOMETHING LIKE THAT. STILL, IT PROBABLY WON'T ENDERE ITSELF TO ANYONE BUT FROUD FANS, AND EVEN THEN IT WILL PROBABLY BE AT THE BOTTOM OF THERE LISTS.

very amusing
I just got this book but I haven't quite finished it yet, but as of right now I am very pleased with it's humorous content. The text is unusual in some instances but all around it is pretty well put together. This is certainly a book I will treausre, and I've yet to check out the glow in the dark stains but I can't wait to. Granted, some of the pictures leave a little to be desired, but has anyone ever been perfect all the time? no, so it is unfair to expect this from anyone. But anyhow, this book has unmistakably been enjoyable and as with all of Frouds books, I'll be rereading this one sometime in the near future, and if a book is good enough to be reread then it's a keeper!

Not just funny...
...but also a bit disarming! Some of the stains and "odor" illustrations in the book look... well, "fresh". I'm not altogether sure that I want to know how the book publisher achieved this effect, but it definately adds bonus points in my mind.

So, the authors of the book claim to have found a gadget that allows them to communicate with smells and stains. Odd, to think that such things are sentient, but nonetheless, their commentary is, of course, hilarious.

Not that I mean to give anything away, but my personal favorite is "The Great Stain of the Apocalypse" and the theory surrounding it. You'll have to get the book (which I recommend) to find out more!

Good Night, Sweet Prince
If you're looking for a tabloid expose on Brian Jones, there are other books on the subject. Good Night, Sweet Prince is a wonderful story of a young girl who dared to enter the magical woods she called home and the mysterious new neighbor she encountered there. Deborah Parrish was a teenager of the 60's who, like so many girls, was trapped between the imagination and spirit of a child and the desires of a woman. Her daydreams took her to America and an adventurous place called California. We watch her grow up amidst unrequited love, a rival's taunting, betrayal by a loved one and the loss of a friendship not yet found. This book was thoroughly enjoyed by my 15-year-old daughter, who is clueless about Brian Jones, and myself, who remembers him well. This story is for you Brian, no headlines, just a simple good night, sweet prince.

Very interesting, touching story
As a life-long fan of Brian Jones and the Rolling Stones, I approached this book with caution. It turned out to be an excellent novel, with a strong story line and sympathetic main character. Brian Jones is not the main character, as the story is told from the perspective of a young English girl. The book, however, evokes the sense of loss and tragedy that many of us felt when Brian Jones died. There is a sense of innocence about the book that is quite touching. Incidentally, I am an adult male, and this book is not just for the female fans. I quite enjoyed it and highly recommend it. I look forward to the author's next work.

Sweet, lyrical book
I just finished this book and thought it was a very sweet, poetic coming of age type book. Although Brian Jones is the focus of the book, the true main character is a young English girl who befriends Brian in the last month of his life. Very well written.

Important History of Rock that Shatters Illusions
If this book does not become a classic, I will be shocked and appalled. The murder of political rock musicians has long been a subject of speculation. Wish I had a nickel for every time the death of Morrison or Lennon was brought up, followed by the refrain "I'll bet the government did it." Constantine not only lays out the killing program and operations in detail, he provides the intelligence community documents in which the deaths of outspoken musicians were mandated. Who can doubt it when the CIA's own files contain orders to kill? Some programmed zombies out there subject to media manipulation will have a hard time with the many epiphonies that Covert War offers, but reality is often hard to take, even many years after the fact. This is a dispiriting, and as Constantine keeps reminding us, fascist culture, but much needed reforms will never come about until people who have become complacent and satisfied with the status quo gather as much courage as writers like Constantine possesses in his little finger. The debunkers can eat cake - I'll take this feast of buried truths any day over the pablum the media turns out to quell the national conscience and turn us all into mindless ultraconformists. This is the dark side of the air-conditioned nightmare that is Amerika. A fine book, recommended to everyone who loves rock music.

A thorough, brilliant study of rock assassinations
I have never picked up a book on rock n' roll deaths quite like this one. Each chapter is a gold mine of information, teeming with fresh insights on the deaths of John Lennon, Tupac Shakur, etc. There are many who would like to silence Constantine, and so some reviews will no doubt appear here criticizing the book erroneously. David Goldberg's review, for instance (above) makes false claims. This IS Alex Constantine's best work to date, and that is saying a great deal, because he is the most articulate anti-fascist researcher around. This book is long overdue, and yet it is far ahead of its time. Bravo, Alex, on an excellent read.

Author is Way Ahead of his Times, its almost Revolutionary
The revolution will not be televised, Alex Constantine is a writer who is exposing the right wing fasict (terrorist) intelligence agencies of the USA. Read this and you will be enlightened. And to those who call it Conspiracy theories??? These people are brainwashed by the corporate-owned media. ...
