Great anthology!
Romancing Rose by Cathy Yardley leads off with the story of a young woman whose grandmother is determined that she not forget her Oriental heritage. In a bargain to get the old lady off her back for a year, Rose takes a course in her culture, and is in for a huge surprise. She never wanted to fall for an Oriental man, but love does not always do what we want.

Katherine Greyle's contribution DRAGON FOR DINNER, brings her Regency comedic flair to the modern world. Su Ling does her best to be a rebel, even bringing home what she thinks is a motorcycle riding bad boy for dinner just to shock her family. Mitch is not what he seems, and both are about to learn how to prioritize family and love.

THE SPICE BAZAAR moves to Indian culture and gives Sarbeeha Johnson a great start to her career. Arranged marriages and deceptions prove to be quite a tangle for a young couple.

Finally, Karen Harbaugh concludes in LOVE.COM, and two young people with match making parents learn what love means.

***** Normally, multi cultural romance means that the hero and heroine will be African American, and once in a while, Hispanic. There are, however, other cultures, and this collection of stories sheds new light on the Oriental one, with emphasis on those of mixed race. *****

Newspaper book review-Playing With Matches--The Spice Bazaar
..."While Ms. Johnson's story (THE SPICE BAZAAR) blends
in with the others in the anthology by way of the
generally formulaic plot and the theme of love
overcoming all, the author's authentic rendering
of colorful details, in an easy, readable style
plunge the reader into the complicated web of
expatriate Indian society, still (and perhaps
forever), clinging to everything Indian that
even Indians back home are eager to shed.

Ms. Johnson brings to vivid life the whole
Indian community as plans for Nalini's wedding
speed up and relatives arrive from
around the world. Nalini, now in Chicago
and Lokesh at the Spice Bazaar pine for the
love that must die for duty. The story
has all the ingredients of a suspense-filled
romance and the reader is kept guessing the
fate of the lovers upto the last page."

"The book will entertain on a rainy afternoon
and is a good buy for some light hearted
reading. And perhaps with stories like
'The Spice Bazaar', Indian culture,
like others, will have found its place
in popular and not just esoteric fiction."

Practical, readable, profound
Karen Johnson was my psychiatrist for a number of years, beginning just as this book was coming out. She walks the walk as well as she talks the talk in this book. She treats patients like responsible adults, not helpless children; and she believes that people who have "emotional problems" can discover from within the ways to solve the problems. This book is extraordinary in that is is very simply written, with a minimum of medical jargon and no intellectual superiority at all; and the material is presented very directly. It's almost an istruction book on how to create yourself emotionally healthy again. I think a revised version is due; lots of research has come out since 1991.

Wow!! A Book by a Woman, about Women
This wonderful text really describes the unhappiness so many women feel. The good news is, that most of our feelings have more to do with the way we learned to cope within a society or environment that is not geared to serving our needs, rather than due to some personal flaw of ours. This book may also help us to wean off the awful habit of collecting too many self-help books, because it encourages trust in our inner wisdom. As a woman who has made it a personal project to enlighten women who are suffering in 12-step based substance abuse programs, because such programs often reinforce our self-doubt, this text is a fantastic part of the solution!!! Imagine trusting ourselves once and for all, instead of the systems, programs, doctors, mates, etc. that we had more faith in than in ourselves! Thank you Karen Johnson, for this very liberating work!

A Wonderful Resource for Women and Those Who Care for Them
The approach to psychological care for women, is where Johnson and Ferguson diverge from much of the past literature. Like me, they know a woman's experience is different from a man's by virtue of their differing genders. Women's concerns are not dismissed, discounted, trivialized, marginalized, or described/interpreted from an exclusively male perspective. The authors acknowledge and affirm that many women understand why they are not happy with their lives. They recommend this as a valid starting point for the work a client and therapist do together.

Lots of good advice!
These cards are filled with good ideas and reminders of what it takes to find the right person. It's easy to get into a rut but these cards have ideas on how to get out of the house more and hopefully put yourself in a situation where you'll meet someone. These cards are well worth the money to give yourself a boost especially if you've been out of the dating scene for awhile.

Cute cards!
This little box set of cards are more aimed to singles and actually included very surprising and helpful tips. The suggestions on the cards range from specific action steps (like going to a new place) to more internal suggestions (like smiling!). I thought they were adorable, illustrated well, and a very clever alternative to having an actual book. I would recommend this set to anyone who is looking for that special someone. Also makes a good gift.

nice easy read for kids
I read this one to my 7 year old son and it held his interest from start to finish.
I wish there were more books like this around.

Great book for young hunters
There aren't many books around for young people who like to hunt, so this book is a welcome surprise. In it Butch and Brian learn the ways of deer, and eventually Butch succeeds in getting his first doe. The book is easy to read, engaging, and holds the readers attention throughout. Certainly a great book for all young outdoorsmen and women.

A mini book, sort of -- great gifts!
We love this series -- a perfect gift for friends, family and co-workers. The cards look like a deck of playing cards, with bright illustrations. Each card offers useful information.

We especially like this one, since it is about Simple Living, a favorite topic of ours. We're buying a bunch, so if you're on our Christmas list, act surprised!

Extraordinary stocking stuffer with real ideas!

Fun at the beach or in the car
I gave a copy of this to my sister who said it saved the day on a long car-ride with a five-year-old. The variety of games you can play with the cards makes it work for different ages and different attention spans -- and the cards are fun to look at and read even if no one feels like playing a game.
