Useful, practical, do-able, great for New Years' resolutions
I bought this book a few days after buying an old house in need of much work. We have decided to adopt at least one item each year from the book as a New Years resolution. They range from the very easy (Clean your roof! Check for leaks!) to the advanced-skill or hire-a-contractor level. But all are detailed, and explain why they are included. Some do not apply to every house, such as the basement hints, but everyone will find something that applies to their house. The book is written in language that you don't have to be a builder to understand; you don't even have to be an experienced do-it-yourselfer to get started. Warning: after starting this book, you will become very paranoid about what could go wrong in your house! However, this is a good thing, as paranoia is the first step toward preservation.

Nothing new, but well organized, thorough, and to the point
If there is one thing that is for certain it is that there will always be uncertainty in our lives. In "Coping With Uncertainty: 10 Simple Solutions" the authors provide the reader with a framework for dealing with uncertainty. Often with uncertainty comes feelings of vulnerability, loss of control, depression, and fear. The ten solutions offered are 1) Accept Uncertainty as Part of Life, 2) Evaluate Your Real Risks, 3) Change Obsessive Thoughts, 4) Restore Inner Harmony, 5) Release Tension, 6) Improve Your Tolerance for Frustration, 7) Develop Healthy Self-Acceptance, 8) Learn to Forgive, 9) Connect with Others and Create Meaning, and 10) Learn to Be Flexible. As you can see they are not really ten separate solutions, but ten principles for a complete solution. Each chapter covers one of the ten solutions in detail and how to apply it in life.

Although at 137 pages it is a fairly small book compared to others of this genre it is tightly written with very little fluff. Written by professionals in the field of psychology and based on years of experience it is a recommended read for anyone having difficulty dealing with uncertainty.

A"MUST HAVE" for the professional as well as the part timer!
As a seller of Antiques both in my Retail Shop as well as via Auctions this book gives the insight needed as to what to buy, when to buy, when to sell and how and how much to sell for. It gives the hidden pitfalls as well as treasured secrets of this wacky but profitable business.

This should be a Guide Book as well as a Reference Book in any Antique Collector's or Antique Dealer's Library.

It has been written to be understood by all who read and use this valuable book.

At this price, nobody should pass it up.

Good work on LBJ
This is a fine and targeted work on LBJ. For anyone who is looking to find a quick read on LBJ, this one is a winner. Also, for anyone looking for a quick read on LBJ who already has a great deal of knowledge about him, this one is still a winner.

The text itself by the author is great. Yet, what really shines are the essays and documents which come later. They provide for a truly non-partisan insight into the career and Presidency of LBJ. They show a flawed man who gave us Medicare, Medicaid, 3 civil rights laws, Head Start, labor law reform, environmental protection and other renewal programs, but also gave us the Vietnam War. What comes out is a great paradox of power and a strange view on political compassion.

Tales of the Southwest
An excellent collection of short stories about the Southwest--its history, its fauna and flora, its people, and just a little about where it may be going if suburbia continues to encroach.

At its best, Bruce's writing style verges on poetry, refining the imagery into a few well chosen lines that beg to be read and read again. The very short story about the Metaphysical Tent is one the best short pieces I have read.

Useless without a Solutions Manual
I'm studying for the CPA. I bought the book because it's required for a course in school. But to actually learn for the CPA exam, I'll toss this one aside for one that provides a solutions manual. Authors who withold the manual for the instructors benefit miss a fundamental point about economics - who the customer is. It's the student that the book is written for and it is the student who pays for the course. Breffni University of Chicago

agree with others - needs solutions manual - useless without
I agree with those that say this book would be more useful if it came with solutions. Right off in the first chapter, hypothetical situations are presented without any background information in the text. If you haven't had some experience in Accounting, you are going to be left scratching your head. The instructor in my class says that it causes you to think. Hard to think if you have never come close to experiencing anything that is being discussed. Some guidance would be helpful.

Very good for understanding the subject
The book provides very clear explanations about different aspects of financial statement analysis. The only drawbacks are that the book is a little simplistic and that problem solutions are sorely needed. However, I am sure you are not going to use oit for self-study- you would be using it as a textbook in a financial statement analysis class. The professor, would be able to provide you with solutions (as in my case- thanks Dr. Church!) and will also help you out with some of the tougher stuff. Whatever, the book does an excellent job in explaining the basic stuff- much better than the Sondhi book.

pretty bland
There were four stories in this book: Daredevil: The Movie, Ulimate Daredevil and Elektra #1, Daredevil #32, and Spider-man's Tangled Web #4. I really enjoyed the section story, and I thought the last one was pretty interesting, although a bit depressing.

The first story, the comic adaption of the movie, was basically a very abridged version of the movie. Many of the scenes in the movie were cut out, which was understandable, considering the amount of space that was devoted to this part of the book. This comic was only two, maybe three times longer than the other three comics. Considering the title of the book, I expected the entire thing to be just a comic version of the movie - I wasn't expecting the other three stories. Because of how cut-down the movie story is, some parts of the plot are pathetically developed. The relationship between Matt and Elektra, for instance, seems to come up out of nowhere. Sometimes it's hard to understand what's going on, and I'm just grateful I saw the movie before reading this.

The second story focuses mainly on Elektra. There's a lot about some of her deepest friendships during a year at college, as well as how she first got to know and start dating Matt. Her relationship with Matt was really sweet, and I liked reading about her interactions with her friends. The main point of conflict in this story is the fact that Elektra and one of her friends keeps embarassing soem guy, who gets pushed more and more to retaliate. The only thing I didn't like was that this story ended with "Continued in Ultimate Daredevil Trade Paperback". I really wanted to read more.

The second story is about some police investigations into various criminals, including the Kingpin and his son. Daredevil and his secret identity are brought into the conversation. Mostly, I found this story to be confusing and boring. Mostly boring, since I eventually got over my confusion. Since I don't regularly read Daredevil comics, I had a somewhat difficult time following some of the cops' discussions about characters I didn't know. It didn't really feel like very much happened.

The last story follows the last hours of one of the Kingpin's men, when he realizes that his botched work will lead to his execution at his boss's hands. I thought this one was very well done, and it, along with the second story are the best parts of this book.

Overall, the artwork was very nice, but I think this book could have been much better if the people who put it together had focused on one thing or another, rather than jumping from comic to comic. In fact, because of the title, I think they should have just done a book-length comic adaptation of the movie. The adaptation that they actually did not do anything justice.

Not bad
I know little about DareDevil but this was a pretty good book. It was action packed but most of the time action sometimes doesn't sound good on paper. What I didn't care for was the use of gd.

This article is ok but I was expecting a much deeper treatment of the topic. I think [the price] is pretty steep for what I consider a magazine article
