this book is really funny!
This is one of the funniest books I've ever read and in my opinion, the Disney movie does not do justice to it. The Mad Hatter and March Hare are a great duo, as always. But I think the best character in the book is the Mock Turtle, who sings the song "Beautiful Soup." Lewis Carroll just has a great and unique imagaination.

Break-out from the Crystal Palace; the anarcho-psychological critique; Stirner, Nietzsche, Dostoevsky
Published in Unknown Binding by Routledge & K. Paul ()
Author: John Carroll
Amazon base price: $102.00
Used price: $34.50
Average review score:

Interesting
This book provides an interesting survey of the ideas of Stirner, Nietzsche, and Dostoevsky, asserting that they advocate individualist anarchism on psychological grounds. This is certainly true of Stirner, and probably true of Nietzsche (though he can be interpreted in other ways), but rather odd for Dostoevsky. In any case it makes good reading for anyone interested in psychology and anarchism. Also present are some brief comparisons with later psychologists of freedom.

An interesting historical read
I had been looking for this book over the past year since I am a graduate of John Carroll University. Dr. Gavin's historical information about not just the University itself but the Cleveland area and the politics within the Catholic diocese is fascinating. I recommend this to anyone who graduated from John Carroll or who has an interest in Jesuit educational institutaions in the US.

Worth a look
This isn't a comprehensive manual of minimalism, so don't fall into that trap, as a coworker did. It does provide an overview of the principles of minimalism, but I didn't feel qualified as an expert (or even close) after studying it.

That said, I appreciated it because it's a collection of papers rather than the thoughts of one expert, and allowed me to explore differing opinions on some of the points of minimalism. Rather than laying out a formula for writers to follow, I thought it encouraged writers to think about the principles of minimalism and why or why not to adopt certain tenets.

The Nurnberg Funnel and Real People
I first read this text in relation to problem-based learning. It was referenced as an eclectic way of building documentation. I found the book very interesting and had some follow-on discussion with the author. The point is that documentation should be oriented toward how the users work, not how the system works. Carroll presents sound research to back up his point of view and the text illustrates his points. Anyone who is charged with writing documentation should read this book --- it will change your view point and your readers will love you for it.

The story of a field trial champion dog.
This book is for anyone who loves dogs or who wishes to know a little more about the time-honored tradition of field trials for dogs. Carroll Seabrook has written a chronicle of the training of "Miss Dot," a U.S. and Canadian field trial champion. This wonderful animal endures other trials on her way to becoming a champion including theft, an airplane crash, and loss of her sense of smell for several years. This story will thrill children, dog lovers of all ages and sportsmen
