How to find out the truth about a Business's health
Are you the kind of investor that relies solely on an Annual Report to make your decisions? You better watch out. An Annual Report usually only provides a rosy picture which in the end is meant to highlight a CEO and his team's performance. The authors' underlying thesis is that neither the Profit & Loss Statement nor the Balance Sheet provide enough information to find out if a Business is healthy. In order to find out the truth, a Cash Flow analysis is a must, after all, Cash Flow is a Business's blood. The book provides examples on how to do it. The first chapters are easy to read, but the last ones require advanced Accounting knowledge.

A Book for Anyone Who Wants to Know Anything About Seattle
This book is filled with great pictures and tons of truly interesting facts about Seattle's past, present, and future! I don't live in Seattle, but after receiving this book as a gift, I think I'd like to go visit sometime. This was a very enjoyable book to browse through. An excellent coffee table book.

Very Helpful
I read this book the week before I arrived for my first visit to the FHL. It was very useful to me. I did what they suggested and purchased the FHL Library catalog on CD (did not know that was available before) and searched in my hotel room for potentially useful items when the library was closed. I was then able to go straight to those items the next day. A good descripton of the surrounding area too. I know they can't cover it all, but I would like to see them add a little something on what there is to do with young children in the area. My husband had to entertain the children while I was doing my research.

THE PAST BROUGHT TO LIFE
In _Nine Years in the Saddle_, James V. Lee has told an important story. More than just the life of his father, it is the tale of an American hero. "Dud" Lee was a hero, not because he was some glossy rendition of a Hollywood ideal, but because he was an average, real person who survived and thrived in rough times. Thankfully, James Lee has written about those times. As editor of Doing It Write!, an e-newsletter for writers, I've seen my share of historical books. With _Nine Years in the Saddle_, you'll feel as though you're sitting by the fireplace, listening to Dud himself talk.

Dud's life, although only one or two generations ago, is foreign to modern teenagers. Bootlegging, lion hunting, working from ranch to ranch ... it all feels like something from an adventure book or a history tome. Knowing that this was a real person, the author's father no less, brings the story into reality. Few books have been written about the real people who lived and worked, and survived, this era of American history. By writing it down, and backing it up with pictures, Lee has preserved this slice of a time past. Helen Ginger

A truly enjoyable read ...
NINE YEARS IN THE SADDLE is a story about the life and times of Dud Lee, how he survived during the depression, bootlegging and hunting mountain lions in Chiricahua Mountains in Southeast New Mexico, and his time punching cows. It's the authors way of telling a story of a man he'd longed to know, and did so after their airport meeting when his father was eighty-one years old. A truly enjoyable read -- a story that will make you laugh and at the same time tug at your heart strings.

Nine Years In The Saddle
Mr. Lee,

Your book, which I purchased last Friday from Hastings in Bryan, is as we speak, history...you were right, it was as great a read as you warned, I wasn't able to put it down for long...

I feel sad that I will never have the oppurtunity to meet such a rounder as your father...

I visualize many of the scenes described in our book and I personally think that a good screen play is waiting to be discovered in your writtings!

I have the "signed" copy of your book in my library in it's place right in there with my printings of "Lonesome Dove" and "Texas"...

I look forward to reading your next book when it "arrives".

See ya in the movies............:)

Respectfully,

Ken "earl" Havel

A very useful reference
I found very useful the way thermal conductivity was approached. I was used to solve simple problems by means of "Temperature response charts". Now it is possible to use formulas instead of graphs.

Excellent source of information on heat transfer
A must read for all Chemical and Mechanical engineers. Exhaustice source of information and knowledge

Another Warren Worshipper trying to get rich off the man.
This book is simply a summary of all the other books about Warren Buffett. It is interesting & tries to distil the concepts, but doesn't really add to our investment knowledge, unless you haven't read anything about Warren before. The continual references to Jack Welsh also seem redundant. You would be much better off reading "Making of an American Capitalist" by Roger Lowenstein which is the definitive Warren text. However, it is easy to read & gives a good overall view of the Buffett approach, but a lot of it is assumption or extrapolation based on other writers, shareholder letters & a bit of psychology thrown in for good measure. No important players were actually interviewed & given that the writer is based in the UK it appears he just pulled out his collection of Warren books, a psych. text & Jack Welsh's biography then started writing. The Warren worship is getting a bit tired.

Great Insight!
Mr. O'Loughlin provides a high quality analysis of Mr. Buffett's leadership style, rational behaviour and critical self-appraisal. The book is well-researched. Even more important, it is well thought out. There is truth here. The challenge for the reader is to look in the mirror and acknowledge how little he knows, then go forth and allocate capital on that limited basis.

Very well written and very readable book
I have read this book during 4 days (mostly evenings) and when I started to read, I could not stop. Frankly, it is one of the most readable books about investment business which I have ever read. And more - although I am also fan of Warren Buffett, I have discovered lot of things which I simply do not know before. I have also discovered lot of new things about insurance business in which I am working for many years and I thought I know it very well. Lot of good ideas for me, five stars for author.

Good, but need answers to questions
Pretty good text. Includes interesting real-world applications and easy-to-understand chapter layouts. The one gripe I have is that answers hould be provided to the questions at the end of each chapter (or should be available for purchase in a separate textbook). I have taken two accounting classes in which this book was used and in both classes the teacher had to xerox the answers out of his answer book for the entire class. I learned so much more this way. Rather than trying to figure them out on my own, I could see what the answer was and then figure out WHY.

Basic and to the point
This textbook makes accounting look easy compared to other accounting textbooks I have examined. It covers the basics of accounting and goes right to the point. It has many problems at the end of each chapter that's great for practice and review. It also provides a website you could go to for a quick review and practice quiz.

EXCITED FIRST TIME BUYER
RECEIVED SHIPMENT IN TIME FOR CLASS. EXPIDIENT DELIVERY. DEFINITELY WILL BUY AGAIN. BOOK IN GREAT CONDITION. HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO OTHERS. FAST AND EFFICIENT SERVICE

Barbara Park does it again !!
This a great book.Kids will love it.
I've read all the Junie B books.
This book is about a boy named Warren that Junie B loves!
Junie B just doesn't get how Warren could like a nother girl.
Junie B is having a hissy fit,she just has to tell everyone about it. Barbara Park does it again!

A top-ten childrens book!
Junie B. Jones Loves Handsome Warren is one of the best of the hilarious Junie B. Jones books. She is at her finest when she meets a boy that she just "has" to have for a boyfriend, but unfortunately, he thinks she is a "nutball". This seriously concerns Junie B. Jones. She obviously hadn't thought of herself in that way. That just adds to the hilarity of the book, since she very obviously IS a "nutball". This book is a definate "must read". It is a good first/second grade "chapter book".

Juine B. Jones loves handsome Warren
The book that you will love to read is Junie B. Jones loves handsome Warren By Barbara Park. This book is about this new boy in kindergarten, and Junie B. Jones thinks he is the most handsome boy ever. One more thing Junie B, Lucille, and Grace all want a boy friend, but he thinks Junie B. is a nutball because she will not leave him alone. Lucille, and Grace are getting mad at Junie B. because she will not talk to them that much because she is talking to Warren to much. Junie B. thinks the only way to get him to love her is to talk, and play with him. Now you can see why this is my favorite book. I hope it will be yours too after you read it.

I did not know this Democritus
I understand that the students did NOT read this book! The author explains a Democritus that did not exist. May be he was not the Democritus of Abdera, the atomist we knew. To say that the moral of Epicurus is COPIED from that of Democritus is completely CRAZY! The author ignores the CLINAMEN and the FREE WILL of Epicurus' morals. It is better to forget this book and to leave it to the students that do NOT read it.

Simply stunning.
An excellent account of the subject matter. Superb presentation and very rigorous indeed.

A Response to Mr. Chappels
In my opinion Warren's book - contrary to the above - is an intriguing and expansive treatment of Epicurus' moral theory. To dismiss Warren's conclusion so out of hand suggests to my mind misunderstanding more than anything else. Democritus seen as a model for Epicurus is in fact a hypothesis which is well substantiated, lucid and an exciting new angle on this topic.
I recommend this book unreservedly.

management accouting for steve albrecht, et al
this text hasn't included solutions manual that's big trouble for student

Missing major material
This book was required for my accounting class. It seems the have the holes of Swiss cheese though. While it probably covers the basics of Financial Accounting as well as any other book, it lacks some things that I thought would be entirely useful. For example only the odd exercises have the solutions in the back. Maybe it's just me, but I expect all since I'm in college. Furthermore, despite the copyright date of 2002, this edition contains a lot of old material. It lists Market Capitalization information about Microsoft from the spring and summer of 2000, the peak in stock prices. Also in the first chapter it speaks of accounting ethics and references a speech made in 1998 by the chairman of the SEC. It makes no mention to the scandals of Enron, WorldCom etc. (Enron declared bankruptcy on Dec. 2, 2001.) This edition appears to be just a desire by the authors to put out a new edition to limit the used book trade of the 7th edition and make more money for the authors.
If you can avoid it, do not buy this edition new.

Super Service
